    Love is the foundation of true will... everything else has external influences "love under will" so to follow your TRUE will one flows into a path of love compassion and understanding. To practice magick with negative and selfish ambitious will drive one insane! There is no law beyond do what thou wilt.93,s.

    Thelema is so diverse and also invites people and organization to be diverse, that when you interview a Thelemite you interview no one, because being no actual dogmatic obligations in beliefs and no universal authorities, makes no individual Thelemite representative of the religion, at most they could represent a certain group of people.

    How do you know what was channeled thru Crowley was divine? Who qualifies that?

    • @IdleMonk-wu3fc
      @IdleMonk-wu3fc 3 месяца назад

      "divine" is just a very subjective adjective, for ancient people an idol made of mud was divine. See the Japanese concept of "kami" to make yourself an idea of how broad is the taxonomy of "divine" stuff, every culture and I would say every human being has their own idea of divine stuff.

    Having experience of spiritual encounters for over many years the nearest I ever got to Alister Crowley's doctrines where via his books. There are dangers which come from unrealistic exspectations. Like The rock stars of old not all of their recording where hits but some live on to this day . Alister Crowley's lifestyle lead him has near to what we would call today into, a drug rehabilitation service. He lost his fortune because of his life style. With the use of any form a drug induced experience it's hard to believe spiritual encounters are not formed by the chemical reaction has opposed to spiritual ones. I practice traditional ways. Finding what works for me . Encounters with let's say More Demonic than spiritual have in my past have caused distinctly different out comes . Curiosity is intertwined with human nature. My own encounters started by becoming aware of spirituality by noticeable little changes. None of which where drug induced. The law of cause and effect does not include the karma effect.What is sent out does not always return to haunt the sender it myth not a rule. I offer only this advice that if you you see yourself looking to receivie firsty a spirit and then spiritual growth. Your are thinking in terms of the cause and effect for the out come you require spiritual birth . Nearer to the truth is effect to cause. The spirit within you finds an out let for your pyhicacil body to grow and form a bond to your already present spirituality . The cause and effect is alined the effect of being spiritual connection to you is because, you are already spiritual. The religious idea is that you receive something you did not already have a spirit that's cause you need receive and effect. The pagan idea is your spirit within finds soul mates and grows is effect to cause. Alister Crowley's lifestyle lead him to write some interesting personal insights. I have understood some of the basics and they make for some interesting insights weather he was help by his choice of medaction in his writings is debatable .I practice using the ways that work for me. No medication required. Alister Crowley's lifestyle and doctrines are not easily understood.but worth some investment of time . Part of his reasoning lacks the commentary clarity of a clear mind and requires anyone's belief system to follow and the ideas put forward ,if it did not work you personally did something wrong ..... Magic or spiritual powers all leave me up lifted not with a sense of failure , by the way failour is kin to correction. Hope this helps you . Please let me know if it did . ✓

      It's a pity that you have repeatedly spelt Aleister's name incorrectly... All ingested substances, whether they be vegetables or drugs, have an effect upon consciousness. By taking certain substances, at certain times in one's journey through life, does one come to realise this. Jesus is quoted in the bible as having said "unless you drink wine and eat bread, you shall not arrive at this wisdom". But at some point abstinence also needs to be achieved and maintained. Drugs need not be a problem so long as there potencies are observed and respected. This is a line of thought frequently put forward by Aleister Crowley throughout his writings...

    Wait, so this went from "Crowley is problematic, we don't worship him. We separate the message given from the divine, from the man who was just the vessel," to "we regard him as a central religious figure, have given him the title 'the beast,' and celebrate the day of his marriage as one of our high holy days."
    I don't think this woman is a serious person.

    • @Coco-im1gq
      @Coco-im1gq 4 месяца назад +2

      Well he is still a central part of the religion. I’m not a thelemite but from what she’s saying, it seems clear that she doesn’t see him as a god to revere but sees him as the simple foundation of the religion, meaning that some “holy” things he went through such as his marriage and other parts are still important to the celebration. But they’re not celebrating him, they’re celebrating what he went through and his holy initiations: such as his thelemic marriage if that makes any sense

    Anyway, is anyone else confused? I still don't understand this

    • @IvyTheOccultist
      @IvyTheOccultist  2 года назад +1

      Thelema reminds me a lot of Chaos Magick in some ways... both are VERY confusing at first! 😂 Basically (from my limited understanding) Thelema seems to be a religion and philosophy that involves discovering and aligning yourself to your True Will. (Whatever that looks like for the ceremonial magician.) It seems they have their own set of ethics/rituals that go much deeper than what we were able to cover in this interview. More research is definitely needed for me on this subject!

    • @MaeviusLynn
      @MaeviusLynn 2 года назад +6

      The "Crawlee" pronunciation was used on the popular TV show Supernatural for a character, so that penetrated the popular consciousness. Aleister Crowley himself, however, leaves us with several quotes including the one I mentioned in the video. He was fond of telling people:
      “It is pronounced Crowly. To remind you that I'm holy. But my enemies say Crouly, in wish to treat me foully.”
