    I think all of the work you put into the encloseres is great. Perfection doesn't matter. As long as it works is all that matters. We all learn as we go along. ❤🐢🦎🐍

    Very clever ideas for hides/shelters. Thanks for the ideas. It's always best to do diy because then you can make it just like you like

    Okay time for me to admit something. When I was eleven I got a baby red eared slider as a Christmas present. I am 23 now and amazingly she's still alive. I say it's amazing she is still alive because I did basically everything wrong for YEARS. I am now studying to be a vet tech and I've since learned about the importance of researching about pets. I'm hoping these videos ( among other credible resources) will help me to fix my many mistakes with my turtle. I'm lucky red eared sliders are tough.

    Kenan that foam shelter is legit! I've made some myself, really easy and cheap

    I have built a underground shelter for my iguana's and Monitors by digging a 5 foot hole 5 feet wide 8 feet long and lining it with concrete and a epoxy resin lining to make it waterproof and also works as a insulation with a wood and corrugated metal hatch with a sloping roof running to lower ground for rain run off. This protects them from projectiles during a hurricane. Been through 2 hurricanes with it and it worked really well with no flooding.
    Love Kamp Kenan and the thought he put into everything,

    A possible idea for the house that floods is to dig down inside where the water pools and put a sump pump with a float valve in the hole then put a grate over it you can then run the hose outside and away from the house.

    I enjoy your videos tremendously. I have no reptiles but I've always enjoyed them when I had the chance. I stumbled upon something yesterday that may be of use to you or anyone making enclosures. Straw houses that people actually live in. May want to look into that and adapt it to making enclosures. Most people don't use AC in summer and very minimal heat in winter. They star from what I've read has a insulation factor close to or above r-60, and the plaster used keeps weather out and temp inside stable. Not trying to say your shelters aren't good just trying to give ideas.

    Do you ever consider redesigning the concrete shelter so that it won't be so much of a drag cleaning it? Like elevating the inside floor so that water will not accumulate and thus no need for vacuuming; and perhaps making a lid so that you don't have to crawl in? It looks awesome but with some change, it may make your life a little easier. The log-looking hideaway for the snake is absolutely stunning!! What a smart idea!!

    • @gregbeck1957
      @gregbeck1957 7 лет назад

      Green Kitty ---> Kinda hard too change a sement lid into a wooden one lol.
      BUT it's good idea for the next time he makes a SIMALAR shelter!!

    I really wanted to hear more about the actual enclosure. Is it made of square aluminum tubing or is it a welded steel frame? What kind of wire are you using? What material is that around the bottom? What do you prefer for roofing? How much of the tip do you usually cover?

  • @joeo7257
    @joeo7257 7 лет назад

    You display several creative ideas of how to build an enclosure. I can heat it, but was wondering if you or any of your viewers can steer me to a method of using a thermostat, and a monitoring system that will alert me if a heater fails or electricity is lost. I live in Oklahoma.
    Also dirt floor or insulated for Sulcattas (2 sixty pounds each)

    Hey Kenan, would you do a video hibernating box turtles? I have watched every video on you tube on the subject and I would like to hear from a pro. I'm nervous as hell because winter is coming and I have never hibernated my turtles before.

  • @matthewtourtellot8846

    My question of course is how you got those things wired? Do you just have leads going to them or is there something else going on there?

    Do you ever have baby cuban rock iguanas from Lola. I lost my Cuban male when I left him with a family member while on vacation ( still don't know exactly what happened). He was the best iguana or lizard I have ever owned. I miss him terribly and I really want to get a new one now but they are hard to find.

    Hi Kenan, I love the vids. I think your enclosures and shelters are amazing, I am curious to know how come the shelters for the lizards are bare bottom ? ...I assume that they are just a wooden bottom. Why wouldn't want to use a substrate of some sort ? .. ( as in astro turf or hay or a rock ) .

      The temp are used for mainly keeping heat for emergencies.. wood is a better insulator than dirt and also since like he said the ants will use any type of substrate in the hide to make a home due to its attraction to the insulation material.
