Not really; he crops up a lot in arts documentaries and discussion format programmes. I think he's an architecture and arts reviewer/commentator primarily. He used to be a restaurant reviewer but I'don't remember him doing that. He is a humanist so there's some similarities there.
It was not compulsory, there is no record stating it was. Compared to the way people were living before in NS Germany (and the rest of Europe), affordable holidays with your family and friends was welcomed and voluntary, not forced.
2 mile long, holy crap. This building is a dream of a Soviet architect, that what I've seen on TV in cartoons as an example of an ideal building in an ideal society....
@14freebooter Just for the record, Freebooter here has a little collection of Naziphile videos favourited and Naziphile channels subscribed to (along with one homoerotic video about developing your pecs). Not that he needs it in the slightest, but you're only helping to make Mr. Meades' point.
"Simply meaning it could all happen again due to our very nature" i'd be interested in knowing what you mean by "our nature" since it's such a simultaneously malleable and hard to define thing. to pretend that human's have one set nature is reductionist and contradicted by empirical evidence suggesting we adopt the nature of the institutions and people around us.
The only problem with it is that his obvious contempt for Nazis and Nazism often spills over into contempt for Germans as a people. That's dangerous and unwarranted.
This is probably the funniest documentary I have ever seen. It is his total contempt for the people he is talking about. This contempt leads to some very funny exaggerations.
Thank you for uploading… I knew Jonathan many years ago having sold his penthouse flat in Bermondsey St SE1. We had great conversations!
Is this the English Penn Jillette?
Well... Fancy seeing you here. Small internet!
GENIUS , PURE AND SIMPLE ... What a mind ! thankyou for downloading ...
Great work, Jonathan. Please keep it up. A delight on the tube/Tube.
"like all reactionary hot-air (back to basics, traditional values, that sort of tosh) it should be fit only to be mocked." Love it
