It’s beautiful. I thought it would be to difficult for me to make, in the beginning I struggled but after taking it down the circle I finally did it! Yaay!! How can o make it bigger? Add more chains ?
Hi Anja.it is 3.30 am in South Africa and i am wide awake,.i decided to go on RUclips and i saw this lovely bag pattern and started this bag. How crazeee to chrochet at this hour🙈Thank you for your beautiful tutorials, you just so calm🙂
Love this Japanese knot bag. A friend sewed one for me years ago and I continue to use it today. I so appreciate you and your channel. Very inspiring and peaceful. ~Sage
Yay! I'm catching up on my "want to make" projects. I used Retwisst Chainy Cotton RCC05, and I had fun making this bag. Now on to another of your tutorials. Thank you, Anja!
All of my project bags were looking pretty ragged, and I found your tutorial. I am working on it now. I made mine larger so I hope it turns out. Thank you for sharing this amazing bag with us.
Wow O have tried to do this oval base for 4 years and have never been able to follow the instructions. Then here you are explaining so clearly. Taking the time. Thank you so much. I do have a question. If O want to make the bag bigger would I continue to increase at the ends. One half double crochet into the first two stitches then two half double crochet into the next stitch? Then next row 3, plus 2 etc. I’m fairly new to crocheting. Would just like this bag large enough for my wallet. Thank you.❤️🇨🇦
Glad you are finding this tutorial helpful, for the increases at the ends of the oval you do them just like you would for the flat circle. I have a tutorial that explains this increasing method that will help. Here’s the link ruclips.net/video/_l8TBUBnUIg/видео.htmlsi=jLypC-aisZ2X8wNl let me know how you get on. Anja x
Just adorable! Just perfect when I don’t want to carry much. If I use an acrylic yarn, what would you suggest for the handles to not stretch? Thank you for this wonderful pattern and excellent tutorial!
Anja, what has me flummoxed, is when I turn to go back along the chain after making the 6 half double crochet it appears to me that I have only one strand to work with. I find your instructions so easy to follow, so that is puzzling.
Making this bag now! I did use a different ombré yarn and I really like the look too! Great instructions! Is it a bag used in Japan or is that just the name? Just wondering because my daughter lives and works in Japan as a professor at a university….the youngest one there! 🧶
@OpheliaTalks by chance, is there a written pattern for this bag? If so, would you mind providing a link for it? Thanks in advance! And btw, it's a gorgeous bag!
@Pixiesantics, I'm sorry, what part did you not understand? please let me know. Are you in the FB group, if so please ask any question in there and I'll do my best to help. Thank you, Anja x
Another bag with an oval base but with a different system for closing and carrying! Worth a try to make this! Also Ecofriendly Wrapping paper! Anja

This is a beautiful bag! I have never heard of chainy yarn. Is it like a light 3 weight?
Hi Rebecca, no, it's a DK, so 4 weight as you probably know it, it uses a 4mm hook, but of course you would use the hook that suits you better, Anja x
Thank you!
@OpheliaTalks by chance, is there a written pattern for this bag? If so, would you mind providing a link for it? Thanks in advance! And btw, it's a gorgeous bag!
No, sorry Sonya, I don't do written patterns for all my videos, just takes too long. Anja x
Ty for tutorial. Approximately how many ounces of yarn? Thank you! Angela
It was a yarn cake and I tell you in the beginning how much I used Angela, thanks for watching, Anja x
Sorry I didn’t get what size hook you used. Thanks in advance.
Hi Vickie, I do say and show the size of hook I'm using in the video, close to the start, Anja x
3.5 mm
Wow......love this! Xxx
So are you only picking up the third strand of the original chain?
Tasnya keren sekali, kalau pakai benang Polyester bisa tidak?
Terima kasih Elli, ya, Anda dapat menggunakan akrilik, tetapi tidak akan terasa kokoh, semoga berhasil, Anja x
Is that 16 or 60 chains for the starting chain? Thank you.
Hi Fern, it's 16, 60 would be enormous, more like a suitcase!!
Anja x
Can it be made into a shoulder bag??
I don't see why not, just increase the long handle to the length you require! Anja x
Hello 🤗, cold you tell me the dimensions of the bag?
Hello armyn, please check in the description below the video, Anja x
Hello, I can’t tell what weight this is…a 3?
Yes it is Cynthia, using a 4mm hook, or what you usually use for your tension, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks thank you so much! I love this little purse!

Love the bag! However, not happy with how the yarn is labeled "cotton."
It's chainy cotton. So it's cotton 🙄
I totally did not understand the base. Wish I could have done this one.
@Pixiesantics, I'm sorry, what part did you not understand? please let me know. Are you in the FB group, if so please ask any question in there and I'll do my best to help. Thank you, Anja x
Copy Crystal
I'm sorry Dixie, I'm not sure what you're referring too?
