- In this video I talk about the update of AI mapping in osu! and give my thoughts on it and talk about the future of AI mapping in osu! if it ever gets good enough that it produces rankable maps

Havent fully watched the video yet but theres at least 2 ranked maps that used AI for the circle/slider placements with given rhythm based on a given map to copy

i think splitting the mapping into multiple different specific AIs would be smarter.
for example, an AI for hit sounding that gets into an input a hitobject (time position, type of hit object, etc) as well as the audio and decides what hisound to put. a lot of mappers know how to map alright maps but not hitsound them
also the addition of map tags should make the ability of telling the AI which kinda map you want (stream jump etc) a lot easier (after retraining)

maybe train an ai on those tagged maps so it knows when a map is ai and wont rank it or put that tag on it
in my opinion: fuck AI. the topic of artificial intelligence is interesting, but the annoying thing is that when AI generates something awesome, you feel that no one put any effort into it, imagine you discover some awesome art and think to yourself "wow dude, you did a great job with that, cool art!", and then you see that some random guy generated it using AI with literally zero effort. sometimes art has something interesting hidden, easter eggs and AI doesn't really do that. it's a tool designed to be annoying and to do something it was trained to do, everything it does has no message, it's empty and it's also an imitation of something that human created. mapping in osu! is guided by imagination and I do not believe that the AI will ever reach such a level that the maps will be good enough to be ranked. I believe the AI maps should be stuck in the graveyard section forever anyway.

I wish that these maps will not be allowed on the website. I'd hate to look for a song that I like and then it's just AI mapped
nah in art ai would not be great but in other more logical things ai is good. I do understand not wanting your favorite songs to be mapped by ai but you will stop feeling that way later on if this actually happens or if you dont become a fighter against the ai overlords.

@@shtreberka3642 yes that was my point (op said fuck ai) and that you get used to it. maybe I didn't explain it correctly but yeah mapping is still not as freeform as other methods of art so its still difficult to notice if an ai map is an ai map if its not directly said and in the future people will lose the sensitivity to ai made content.
AI actually put effort like how human does when learning. Just like us, AI learns through experience. Thats why theyre called neural networks, theyre inspired by the human brain and get better at tasks the more data theyre exposed to. Developing AI also can take time and resources, but its an investment that pays off. When you train an AI well, it can become a powerful tool that does exactly what you need it to do.
However I get it if you mean that AI is boring and doesnt have any emotion or feeling when learning meaning they just do and learn exactly what you taught them to do, missing that human behavior of getting motivated to do something and create something really cool out of it

What would be really a huge deal for mapping is to give the AI an mp3 of a song with variable BPM and it does the timing for you. It would open the gates to a whole ton of songs.
bro it already exists, it's called TimingAnlyz, not sure if this is AI but it makes the timing for you soooo it makes the same thing.
@@Zymo__ It's old and It's also not completely reliable. It's not actually doing the timing it's only giving an approximative number, which is not what variable BPM timing is.

@@Zymo__ Truly a complete one would be great. You put in a mp3, and it gives you back a map with all the red lines done, or list all the offsets with BPMs next to it.

its already good wtf? idk how it plays, but just looking at the map if someone just showed me i'd never guess it was made by an AI. This is probably terrible for mappers but for me personally man i can't wait to quickly map my favorite songs lol.

I think ai will be good for people who don't map. It can't compare in quality to a real mapper, but it can make the process of making your first map a lot less aids.

I think that as long as the AI maps are tagged as AI, and they stay in the graveyard section, it's fine.

@@_Aspartes getting warnings for uploading AI maps without tagging them as AI lol, if map looks AI generated the mapper should be asked for evidence that he mapped it, but then everyone needs to record them mapping, kinda bad solution. after tagging map as AI, it should be automatically moved to the graveyard section. :)
if AI struggled to map a song or the version of the map generated by AI is shitty and the original map isn't shitty, it could be also an evidence proving that the map isn't AI generated.
@@Zymo__ why should a mapper tagged their maps as ai if they want to get a ranked maps, if you got a second monitor you can kinda replicate the mapping process by hand and maybe fix the spacing and sync a bit
it's the same issue as art, if you just trace the ai art and desaturated the color palette, no one will know you use ai

I like AI because it always unreasonably triggers a lot of people. I don't think the AI will be good unless someone who understands mapping and AI very carefully picks maps and settings to draw from though. I don't think this will ever happen widespread to make any style map but I think something consistent and generic like browiec AI has a decent chance of being more successful.

AI is indeed efficient. and it could also be used to replace human jobs in the future. but they can also beat every human in anything in months even if they did it for 30 years.
the thing is that if AI replaces everything, and you have nothing left to do or anything you would be better than AI at, then whats the purpose of life? would there really be any kind of point in trying if you know that something like an AI can do it better? in actuality- yes. i have to explain something here. even if you know that ai can do it faster, more accurate and everything, that still doesnt make anything you made or the accomlishments youve made wortless. it doesnt make YOU worthless. in fact- it makes you worth more. because even when you know theres something better than you, youre still going.- but doesnt that sound familiar? isnt that basicly the exact same thing as it is with humans? there is always someone better than you unless youve reached the top. so its basicly just new competition. also, you know the saying that says : its lonely at the top? well yeah that is true. BUT if AI is at the top then you will never be lonely in that way. this is just an assumption but i think, that way everyone get that they can go all out without having to worry about being lonely at the top ( 40% rule). or we might actually get there in the future.(obviously that wont happen anytime soon) and if thats the case, we could actually speed up human revolution with AI. thanks for reading, maybe you could give me your thoughts about this?
