I tried enjoying this book but the letters to Ellen sent me over the edge. But I'm excited to read it starts with us because ✨Atlas✨

especially because I am not a Ellen Stan, like why couldn't it have just been diary entries? Even if the whole thing is 'just keep swimming' like just tell me you like finding Nemo, I would much rather that.

I love the letters i put aside how much i hate ellen and enjoyed them
LITERALLY Atlas went to her school!! I thought it was SO weird she described him just as "a homeless guy"

That scene broke my heart, because I did really like Ryle for so long in the book and knew he was broken. But there's no excuse for what he did.
I’m only 9 minutes in & im finding your commentary SO funny. I feel like this is exactly how I would feel rereading it. I gave it 3 stars originally so it would prob be a 1 for me now 😭

Ryle was just so toxic & manipulative the whole book. Idk how some readers liked him & gave sympathy to him from what I heard.. I actually really liked Atlas, he was such a sweet friend to lily. Excited to read the second book.
Honestly I know some people who kind of liked Ryle despite everything bc their past and being in abusive relationship hoping he would change LOL. That’s what I’ve heard hence the point, who even know tbh😂
readers who gave him sympathy missed the entire point of the book. and are very vulnerable to being treated like lily was
I remember when I first read about Lily and Ryle's first encounter, I swear I spotted the red flags right away! OMG when "the phone call" scene happened I was a wreck!
Me too! Like if someone's first encounter with me is them begging me to have sex with him and stalking my home. I'd call the authorities not date them.😅
I wish we could have gotten more present day Atlas. Also, you were spot on about Alyssa. I originally liked her until later in the book.

Thank you for filming this! This was the perfect recap before It Starts With Us comes out tomorrow! Even thinking back now, Ryle was literally a walking red flag the entire book.

i finished the book today and last night i was sobbing for a good 20 minutes. the part that really broke me was her last ellen diary. specifically the part where it said “ being completely helpless as my father came down on him with a baseball bat the sound of bone snapping was the only thing piercing through my screams“ i was crying so hard lol

Gurll, i cried so hard to this😭😭😭😭😭 , i wanted to re-read the book but after this 😭my heart can't do it , the video was amazing
i've read it ends with us three times. it got me back into reading and then i annotated my copy of the book. two months ago, i annotated a copy of the book for my friend's bday cause she wanted to read it. i could barely get through it during the third read through because i realized it wasn't as good of a book that i thought it was

i didn't really love atlas either, just bc we didn't get a lotof him -- like don't get me wrong he's great -- but everyone was literally like IN LOVE AND FANGIRLING over him and i was just like "mid"
and i was also EXTREMELY bored while reading the journal entries bc i felt like nothing was happening and they were long (as i remember i kinda forgot)
that being said, im rly excited for "it starts with us" to come out and hopefully like atlas more...and yes, i did SOB reading this book. my stomach literally hurt for 3 days after bc of how much i cried lol

This book absolutely gutted me reading it the first time and then I watched this recap and yep.. still ripped my heart into many little tiny pieces , threw them on the ground and stomped all over them 😭😭😭 can't wait for it starts with us!
I said the exact same thing and said oh yeah this can be put behind us but when it started getting worse I was like nope this can’t continue. And i also agree that I don’t really care for Atlas, I just don’t feel anything for him

My book comes today and I’m soooo excited! I actually fell in love with atlas when they were young and just the way he defended her as adults too I was like giddy when they got together in the end!

I kept seeing the “Where did you get the magnet, Lilly?” Part all over IG and TikTok before actually reading the book. It was always mentioned in the pivotal quotes prompts. When I read it for the first time…. and it clicked…. 🤯😂….

After the birth when shes asking Ryle what he would do if someone hurt his daughter, etc. I cried so much through that. Omg. I felt like Ryle grew in that moment and knew she was right. it made me cry for all of them.
Prob going to read ‘it starts with us’ when I finish my current read (just kids - Patti Smith) so this was perfect to like go through the book again, without re-reading it💘
When she is talking to ryle after the baby, i litteraly put down the book and cried for hours straight, can't wait to read it starts with us !!

I won’t lie, I hated the book when I read it because it had been marketed to me as a romance, I hated Ryle from the start etc but I really enjoyed this video and even got emotional at your reactions. I think it’s cool that it’s an entirely different reading experience the second time around!
I hope in It starts with us we get some better Alyssa content, like girl support your bestie even if your brother is her ex husband, you know the crap he did and put her through.

I feel like I’m the only person who doesn’t like this book. The ending was insane to me. I just can’t see how an abused woman who escaped that situation could just let her abuser have unsupervised visitation with her child..like what?
I feel the same way! Like this should be going to court, he needs to get a handle on himself for his child and himself! because there is trauma there
@@whatsdesreading very true. I can’t remember if this is addressed (maybe it will be in the next book?) but at the very least Ryle needs therapy. Even though I didn’t love it ends with us, I’m probably still going to be reading it starts with us when it comes out bc it’s CoHo 😂🤷🏻♀️

I knew from chapter 1 he was a red flag.. the minute he brought that chair towards her… I knew it was a red flag, but I fell in love with him
I think and love the book because it looks good, it looks pleasing, we fall in love with Ryle.. and then we hate ryle.. 😮 I saw all the red flags my first time reading it, but I haven’t been physically abused only sexually and verbally, mentally snd emotionally… I love it because it gets us to understand that books ( people) look pleasing but once we read the book we understand the true colors, some of us.. understand that once we leave those relationships that he’s a jackass
