Michaela Mabinty DePrince (born Mabinty Bangura, 6 January 1995 - 12 September 2024) was a Sierra Leonean-American ballet dancer who danced with the Boston Ballet.
I don't know how I came to this page, but I am at a loss as to why this is the first time that I am hearing of this amazing young woman. Michaela Mabinty DePrince, you were a shining star that shone for 29 years. You are now in the arms of Our Lord Almighty. Definitely gone far too soon. 😢😢😢😢
I very much believe in "what is remembered lives", and this beautiful soul is unforgettable, and so shall forever live. I believe she will be the sparkle in every little girl with a dream of dancing's eye.

Im very sad. I do not follow ballet but I certainly remember her story of existence. I remember her early childhood story and the girl that was brought up with her. I ;earned of her story during the pandemic. I hope other minority young girls follow and keep her legacy alive. She will be missed.

Her family hasn’t released the cause of death. Her mother died in surgery the following day, so they need some time to grieve. I don’t believe it was suicide. She doesn’t strike me as someone who would take her own life when her mother was about to have surgery. Her family tell us when they’re ready. For now, let’s not assume anything.
