  • Glaciologist Luc Moreau placed a bicycle wheel under the glacier in Chamonix to record its movement. He has studied the moving glaciers of the world. www.moreauluc.c...
Scientists say 90% of glaciers in the Alps could disappear by 2100 if nothing is done about reducing carbon emissions. Glaciologist Luc Moreau has been observing the glacier, located on the northern slope of the Mont Blanc Massif, for 30 years. Every year, he's watched as the glacier melts a little more.
There may too be localised climate factors. However, research just published has shown that Austrian glaciers have also lost more glacial ice in 2022 than they have in 70 years of observations and therefore it is quite clear that severe melt has been the norm in 2022.

Great video Dan. I hope future generations get to ski the Vallée Blanche, it is a truly amazing experience.
