Interesting. I purposely work on trying to balance my sound, so that the hi hat is a bit softer than the snare and bass drum. You could try lowering the kick drum trigger.
thank you! studio reverb is my go to scene. i set the as per instructions -pretty simple - just make sure level not too hot/high. i set it at home in the studio so i can tweek it as opposed to setting it on the gig
Hey Man,Nice one for uploading this video,I've been using a Roland Tm2 but want to make the switch,This video is great because I see many vids in a rehearsal room environment but none live and this is perfect!
most gigs i play require using drum mics- and sometimes there is only a basic sound system, so i provide my own mics, this is very easy and convenient to use plus use have the ability to add triggers, effects, reverb, compression, etc.
Hey Bobby. Question buddy. This is all ran to the pa yes? Sub mixer 1st? (If any) having a hard time just getting the unit to function properly just runong a mono line to a 4 ch head then to the speakers. Any help is greatly appreciated and ps you still soind great
thanks so much! no submixer - direct 1/4" into board- high quality Allan & Heath digital board or something similar- with really got mic/line pre's - i would make sure gain structure is set well. set trim first then bring up level - should come out of the subs and top speakers
Thank you, awesome video, but my favorite part? Your amazing style, great time, energetic & CONCISE drumming! In you I see what bandleaders ask for & rarely get: time with a minimum of flashy fills & unnecessary show-off chops; you just play the music so good! I love it! (I'm gonna study this video a lot & try to steal your great vibe, muhahahaha!!:)
How do you get the Yamaha ead10 to make noise besides using headphones? I'm trying to play loud in my room without using headphones. I know there is a aux for it but do I need a speaker if so what is a good budget speaker to buy.....Any help pls
you can plug it in directly into an amp/ mixer w/ speaker- L/R output 1/4" - there are many options depending on how much volume you need/budget/etc. ypu can try speaking to someone at sweetwater.com they are very helpful
1/4" cables out of the EAD10 L&R for stereo or just one 1/4" for mono (which i use often) and it goes directly into a channel on the mixer- as would any other instrument. some digital mixers only have XLR inputs in which case you would need a direct box which many sound people carry with them.
i have some more recent clips that do have a better balance check my RUclips channel - besides, for a live gig cymbals always get picked up from vocal mics, etc. i would not try boom over the shoulder because i would lose the bass drum trigger option which is great. also you don't get much bleed from other instruments when it's in the bass drum hoop. Thanks!
i rarely use the trigger sounds (which are only for the bass drum- or an external pad plugged in) - although some of the bass drum trigger sounds are great, the basic reverb kit or compression settings are just the stereo mic - and you can always turn off the trigger
Hey Bobby, do you know how to send just your kick trigger through L/R and nothing else (nothing that the mic picks up). Sending audio out live has been a nightmare of feedback and awkward mixing. Pretty much every venue I play has decent mics, I literally just want my kick triggered live. The mic is excellent for live monitoring, so I want the mics still picking up audio and sending it to my headphones.
good question- i wanted to do something similar and i reached out to Yamaha Support and they were very helpful- you may want to reach out to them- if i find out any more info, i'll let you know- thanks
@@bshubo thanks for your response!! I did reach out to Yamaha and unfortunately they mentioned it's not possible to have separate levels from audio going to headphone vs. what's being sent to FOH via audio out. In this way, if you want mic audio in your headphones, that same level is being sent through audio out. I really hope this is addressed in the next product iteration
Greg Glenn it can be done. You just have to go into the settings, and turn the gain on the mic down to where it won’t make a difference in FOH, but in your mix it will still be audible. Then adjust the levels of the trigger up. Hope that helps. It’s really just a lot of trial and error!
congratulations on the video and the drum sound. I read about The Yamaha ead10 and about using it for live shows. was your band in using guitar and bass amplifiers? I read that if you use amplifiers the Yamaha microphone can pick up these sounds. did you notice it when you used it live? or is it imperceptible? I thank you!
@@bshubo I wonder if my unit is defective. All is fine in my practice studio, but take the EAD10 to a gig, and lots of distortion. I send L/R main outs to our board for in-ear mix. EAD10 volume at halfway, everything clipping. Do you use the supplied cable pair between module and trigger/mic?
I would use in-ears with this, but dont want to deal with a personal mixer (Im trying to simplify). Can you hear the processed sound of the drums well through the monitor as opposed to the natural sound of them? I hope that makes sense.
C Drummys this unit works fabulous with in-ears. I don’t use a separate mixer though. I’m fortunate enough the bands I play in, use digital mixers, so there are apps available to download to your phone, iPad, etc. and you can control your entire mix. The EAD is an awesome tool!
