Thanks so much, Wendy, for inspiring me the past year! My question: Other than "art," do you have any other ways to be creative? For example, I write, play ukulele, and knit, in addition to drawing and painting with watercolors, in and out of my art journal.
I moved to Boston, USA last year and made a specific junk journal to document my adventures. I used a map to make some of the pages. I found a tourist book at a $1 rack at an old bookstore and rip up the pages. Then I use flyers I collect, and things I find when I walk around: stickers, leaves, even beads from a bracelet I found on the ground. There is so much to use without buying stuff. So fun to document life in a journal of your own making! A special thing I love to do is to buy a postcard of a favorite work if I go to a museum and write about the day and include it in my journal.
Ah! I moved just north of Boston to Exeter, New Hampshire 2017 from Maryland! I found Wendy’s channel right at the start of COVID. What a life saver you are Wendy! I try to journal every day. Having to be housebound for two years has made it impossible to meet people and make friends. Love this circle you have created Wendy.

Aloha and thank you dear Wendy for keeping me company this morning with my Cuppa! 💕☕ I live on the island of Maui where we have one of the world's largest Banyan Trees! It is the largest in the Hawaiian Islands and the United States spanning one city block or just shy of 2 acres! It has a circumference of 1/4 of a mile with 16 trunks! Planted in 1873 as an 8ft sapling it sets in the heart of the village of Lahaina. In Hindu it symbolizes Fullfillment of Wishes, in Buddhism it represents Enlightenment. 💫A perfect and hopeful oracle card for the new year! 💫 Please know...your videos mean the world to me! 💕☺As an artist who lives alone these past 2 years have been a bit lonely. Knowing I have my Friday morning cuppa with you is one of those treats that I so look forward to and I'm sure has helped with keeping my heart happy and healthy! 😁💕 Many blessings to you and James dear heart as we sail into the new year. I once saw a very huge and old banyan tree standing in the center of Lahaina on the island of Maui/Hawaii. It covers a very large space and felt so calm and save and in a way at home when I walked arround this place under the tree. A good memory to have for this year! Happy New Year to you both. I have missed you. I have had a year and then some journey with my health. As of two weeks ago I had surgery and we believe now cancer free. As you would imagine life changes everything! I am a lover of nature and appreciate all mama earth gives us, as well as you my friend. Yard sales are a good resource for bits and bobs at a budget price… people getting rid of kid’s toys, sewing bits, papers, esp. old things… can be quite an adventure just in searching. I will caution that tapes offered for sale as “similar to Washi’ may not have good stickiness for journals… only the Washi seem to have stick that holds or can be moved about without loss of sticky. And I just want to add, Wendy, that you have brought me back to the magic of journaling… have a great new year!
Banyan trees grew where I lived in Miami Florida. There was a road lined on both sides with them. I love that you picked that card. With all their roots they endure Hurricanes well. This will become ADDICTIVE LOL .I use Large plastic storage boxs to keep mine in . My excuse for my collection of treasure 💖 is that I make cards as a job . But be warned it takes over your Life . I started my first journal last year in the first lockdown which I just did backgrounds in it really because I didn’t really know what I was doing, but after watching you I’ve made my own journal… I love it and I love playing in there, and after doing it I’ve come off my antidepressant medication! 👍🏻 thank you so much you don’t know how much you help. Thank you Wendy, it’s really useful to see the materials you use. I have found that once you start collecting materials, you start to see them everywhere, as you say, tickets, used tissue paper, even the packaging of the washi tape is pretty. It takes time to build up a good stash of materials which is half the fun. Happy journaling to all. Axxxx

Happy New Year James and Wendy! I've been doing more collecting and gathering of supplies and started to include some brochures from places I stopped at on my trip to California last summer. I've discovered Pockets is a great way to use greeting cards I've saved, holiday stickers add a cute little touch, tissue papers I found I couldn't live without, and paper clips with stickers tops or ribbons make great tabs. I'm definitely finding my creative muse-she had been asleep too long and must wake up now! Thank you for the 💡🎉

I am so happy I found your u tube channel you are like a breath of fresh air you are authentic and wise and honest and I think we are all wanting that and it’s hard for some because I think they are waiting for permission and videos like yours help others to be who they truly want to be THEMSELVES and let’s hope 2022 allows them to step into themselves test the waters.and start to be comfortable and feel safe to do so. I love oracle cards….crystals…..oils ……chimes also and I just put in a little order from your Etsy shop. I am in a dry spell for my creativity but I continue to press on. Hi, Wendy (& James)! Your recent “back to basics” journaling series has really matched my new year’s focus of “leaning in to simple & calm”. My word for the year is “float”. To float above the fray, not let it get to me, and rise above negativity and soak up the sun, sea and float! I agree with you regarding the Amazon Beast……I often reference a product on Amazon to locate the actual maker of the item. I then go directly to their website to purchase it. I did have a QUESTION: White ink pens…..no matter what brand I buy, they start out nicely flowing, then quickly stop. Of all the white paint/ink pens on the market, which one have you found to be the most consistent in staying usable? Far too much collage stuff!🤣🤣🤣🤣 haha!me too! But recently my kids thought I should move into an aged care home, and after I did a quiet little panic, looking around my studio, I started tidying, purging, reorganising, trashing, prior to a possible move. Well , weeks later, my health has improved, my studio is much more organised, and emptier, and I am staying put! What an amazing feeling it is to go through this process, I highly recommend it. I did tackle the 3 or so boxes of collage materials, but really, seriously , it needs to shrink! Or maybe I will just sort it? In sizes? Colours? Any ideas on categorising collage papers?

The banyan tree is often referred to as the Walking Tree because it sends out its roots far and wide from it’s original core trunk and appears to walk across the land seeking like and enlightenment. It reminds us that when we have a strong core of family or friends and sense of who we are - it is ok to travel away from that core because we always remain connected and are not alone in this world. Our core could be an online community such as this one - so go and explore , find your own pathway into the light knowing that you’re always a part of the whole x 😊

Wendy, I LOVE your videos and I’ve got to have you to keep me company while I journal. I started my first journal last year in the first lockdown which I just did backgrounds in it really because I didn’t really know what I was doing, but after watching you I’ve made my own journal… I love it and I love playing in there, and after doing it I’ve come off my antidepressant medication! 👍🏻 thank you so much you don’t know how much you help. Thank you Wendy, it’s really useful to see the materials you use. I have found that once you start collecting materials, you start to see them everywhere, as you say, tickets, used tissue paper, even the packaging of the washi tape is pretty. It takes time to build up a good stash of materials which is half the fun. Happy journaling to all. Axxxx

Happy New Year James and Wendy! I've been doing more collecting and gathering of supplies and started to include some brochures from places I stopped at on my trip to California last summer. I've discovered Pockets is a great way to use greeting cards I've saved, holiday stickers add a cute little touch, tissue papers I found I couldn't live without, and paper clips with stickers tops or ribbons make great tabs. I'm definitely finding my creative muse-she had been asleep too long and must wake up now! Thank you for the 💡🎉

I am so happy I found your u tube channel you are like a breath of fresh air you are authentic and wise and honest and I think we are all wanting that and it’s hard for some because I think they are waiting for permission and videos like yours help others to be who they truly want to be THEMSELVES and let’s hope 2022 allows them to step into themselves test the waters.and start to be comfortable and feel safe to do so. I love oracle cards….crystals…..oils ……chimes also and I just put in a little order from your Etsy shop. I am in a dry spell for my creativity but I continue to press on. I also found myself a corner cutter thanks to you! That changed my journaling so much…all of my washi tape I ordered through Amazon came and it doesn’t stick? Must be old!…

Hi, Wendy (& James)! Your recent “back to basics” journaling series has really matched my new year’s focus of “leaning in to simple & calm”. My word for the year is “float”. To float above the fray, not let it get to me, and rise above negativity and soak up the sun, sea and float! I agree with you regarding the Amazon Beast……I often reference a product on Amazon to locate the actual maker of the item. I then go directly to their website to purchase it. I did have a QUESTION: White ink pens…..no matter what brand I buy, they start out nicely flowing, then quickly stop. Of all the white paint/ink pens on the market, which one have you found to be the most consistent in staying usable? Also, are there any special techniques, processes or care tips you have that keeps the white pen flowing? Thanks so much, and see you in the next video! Love from Lisa in Texas~!

Far too much collage stuff!🤣🤣🤣🤣 haha!me too! But recently my kids thought I should move into an aged care home, and after I did a quiet little panic, looking around my studio, I started tidying, purging, reorganising, trashing, prior to a possible move. Well , weeks later, my health has improved, my studio is much more organised, and emptier, and I am staying put! What an amazing feeling it is to go through this process, I highly recommend it. I did tackle the 3 or so boxes of collage materials, but really, seriously , it needs to shrink! Or maybe I will just sort it? In sizes? Colours? Any ideas on categorising collage papers?

The banyan tree is often referred to as the Walking Tree because it sends out its roots far and wide from it’s original core trunk and appears to walk across the land seeking like and enlightenment. It reminds us that when we have a strong core of family or friends and sense of who we are - it is ok to travel away from that core because we always remain connected and are not alone in this world. Our core could be an online community such as this one - so go and explore , find your own pathway into the light knowing that you’re always a part of the whole x 😊
