Thought we got away with a point in the end and was concerned that Lopetegui wanted to just hang onto a point. Good to see the youth get minutes, though they were thrown on at a stage when Lopetegui was clinging onto the game without showing much evidence of a game plan. Overall, we are just treading water rather than developing with a clear identity. Honestly don't want to go into January window with Lopetegui still in charge.
Tim picked the players but didn't get to select the manager. That's down to Sullivan. We were nearly there. Great players with the wrong manager., If the Manager was Tim's pick, we would be fine.
Sometimes you can have a liveable house but on inspection it’s built very badly and can’t be maintained. You either take the advice to underpin it and restructure everything or you will eventually see it collapse. That’s West Ham. The work takes time and you may not have working water for a bit and no electrics etc. but if you get through that you will have a solid building that’s more maintainable and last longer. You can be annoyed and get rid of the builder half way through cos your used to better living arrangements. But every builder you bring has to do the same thing anyway and it’s gonna take time. We just have to accept that. I’m not sure Loppy is a cowboy builder I think is what everyone’s wondering? Sometimes you think so, but he’s done a lot of work in the past to suggest he isn’t. But I don’t think changing him now is going to transform anything. The work needs to be done. We can’t be a low block counter team anymore. It’s too hard to find the players to do that job and after a few seasons in the league everyone works you out anyway. There are 3 teams I remember that played a bit like West Ham under Moyes. Atlético Madrid and Chelsea under Jose. The difference is atleti are the 3rd biggest team in Spain and Chelsea were the biggest spenders in the PL at the time. The point is you can sort of sustain that way of doing things if you have the money. Whereas possession football doesn’t really need a lot of money to make it work. Which seems counterintuitive. But you can see the Brentford’s and Bournemouths survive because they aim to keep the ball and recycle it. Giving them more goal chances. Counter attack gives you very few chances and needs excellent individual play to convert that one chance (Diego Costa etc). fans may hate it but Moyes’ plans would have ruined us long term. You could see our league positions dipping even as we spent more. It doesn’t work.
Because he is a right winger and we have Kudus who is a right winger and Bowen who is a right winger. I don't quite know why we have three right wingers. Must be planning to sell Kudus.
@@willdoyle6952 you prefer right-sided forward? Or just forward? Those terms are overlapping and not inconsistent with winger. Seems that he often plays in games as a straight out and out winger, mostly on the touchline, getting past the defender. But at other times he's given instructions to play more as a forward interchanging with Bowen to play more centrally.
I know this question isn't aimed at me (and my reply isn't aimed specifically at you) but why Potter? Anybody who says Potter seems to me to be saying anybody but Lopetegui. Were those same people also saying anybody but Moyes? I'd rather stay with Lopetegui than ever hire Graham Potter. I can't verify any of this but it seems to me that people who want Potter may have voted for Brexit (ie. No concern for long term consequences). I'd say take a step back and stop taking the club too seriously. We're not challenging for higher than where we are now under anybody for this season at least. Let Lopetegui have the year and see if things improve by the end of it. Nobody was finishing top 8 with the mess Moyes left the squad in.
@@ASOXO”People who want Potter may have voted for brexit” is a ridiculous comment. I would like Potter to replace Lopetegui, I think he is a very good manager who has successfully transformed a defensive counter attacking Mark Hughes’ team to a very good controlling high possession team that when he left was sitting 5th in the table. He also has a track record of developing and improving players.
@@ASOXO I said Potter because he seems to be the one heavily linked. There are plenty of managers out there but I'm no expert on any of them. I'm not saying he should be replaced but a lot of shows like this tend to suggest that he is not getting the best out of the team, so I'm intrigued to know who they think is capable.
@@ASOXO Moyes did not leave the team in a mess. We were weak in defense which was corrected in the window. The first attempt at correcting an ageing defense didn't work. It happens. Trying to put all of that on Moyes means ignoring his the squad was not just improved under Moyes, but also how successful he was in his second spell with us. Balance doesn't cost you anything. You can not enjoy his tactics without distorting his legacy and his management.

Great stuff guys
Great show.
Merry Christmas.

Maybe he's a tiler or a 2nd fit carpenter but 12 games at real Madrid and 14 at spain, he's not a builder.
@ hahaha. That’s actually quite funny! Undefeated at Spain mind you. And pretty much everyone who’s anyone has been sacked from Madrid!
I feel insane, why are youngsters suddenly getting so many minutes, but Luis Guilherme isn’t?
