Forreal. All around, secret love, and forever young makes this my top 3 races in fourth stage. the timing of each eurobeat is perfect, especially that last side by side scene with forever young playing.

*Arguably the best Initial D episode and battle ever!* The expertise of Takumi's opponent, closeness of the battle, drivers' thoughts, and outstanding direction and soundtrack made it suspenseful and enjoyable to watch. *10/10*
The ending too was very poetic, similar to the Kai race, but this time more about Karma.
My second favourite battle after the "God Foot" Kozo Hoshino Nissan GT-R Skyline R34 vs Keisuke's Mazda RX-7 FD3S

And specially the ending, truly a very poetic never give up moment, Takumi himself knew that Tomoyuki was a better driver, knew in the last section there should have been no space to pass him yet he never gave up, and in not giving up he could take the chance that luck presented him

Ironically, nowadays I despise it. Do you really think tactics are enough for a junky 20 valve catch a K20 FF? Uphill is a complete loss for the heavier Corolla over a lighter Civic.
@@patricklopes-vtecboth cars would be about similar in weight with all the modifications done to them. Remember, by this point, the AE86 had already gone through several changes and was gutted with only front bucket seats and roll cage. Stock, the EK9 type R has around 185 hp, and the race engine in the ae86 makes around 250, so unless the Todo school made extensive modifications to the powertrain, it would definitely lose an uphill battle. Hence why even though Takumi was passed in the first uphill section, he was still able to keep up with the ek9.
Blind Attack with Forever Young. The best scene in the entire show.
C 121 at Usui is also a good one.
That or the final stretch on the Inui Shinji race. That scene puts my hair on end just thinking about it.

Absolutely. I consider this Takumi’s closest race in the entire series. He was beaten until the pro got distracted by the object/animal of some sort that jumped across the road. Takumi won by 1/4th of a car length. It wasn’t even that close in the Shinji race.

One thing about this scene that is so amazing is you get the POV from Tomoyuki most of the time and hearing what he is thinking at any given time. Little effort that doesn't break his concentration while driving.
For Me, This is The Best Race in Initial D.

seeing this for the first time back in the day was intense and gave me goosebumps
Each track in sequence helps build up to the next track. Don't Go Baby and All Around may have had a purpose but here's my gist of it.
The first two was more about Tomoyuki trying to find his desire, his source of motivation. From the lyrics, I felt that desire or you could say that fire was trying to reach out to him to be rekindled since Tomoyuki was missing something.
Secret Love and Forever Young had the most impact. Secret Love because Takumi was passed via the invisible line, and his concentration increased. Desperately he wanted to keep up, find a way to overtake him, and not be left behind as they were going uphill.
As for Forever Young, Tomoyuki finally understood the purpose of the race, as he saw a younger version of himself in Takumi.
It can also be seen as Takumi's feelings towards the AE86, as the car itself is much older than the rest of the competitors except for others similar to it. Forever love and fun, until the morning sun. After all, Bunta makes him do tofu deliveries until sunrise, and the AE86 is his true love.
But that's my interpretation of it based off of the lyrics.

Tomo vs. Takumi is definitely the best race out of all the Initial D races. Nothing comes close to the music, information, analysis, techniques and emotions that are all in this race. Best of all, its only one episode compare to others where they always have to split it.
Love how Tomo gave us so much racing information about his car, Takumi's Hachi-Roku and the road itself. His racing skills are unbelievable that we didn't have to rely on Ryosuke to keep taking forever to give us the points of this race. This race shows just how far Takumi is from a pro racer that luck was still on his side but that he still didn't back down from the race knowing he was going to lose. And how Tomo finally finds his motivation to keep on racing at the end no matter how many times he loses.
Then I love the 5 songs that were played very well throughout the episode. Each song gave the emotions of the drivers and situations very well. It just blend in perfectly that you can feel the frustrations and motivation of the 2 drivers. The last song to end it was perfect and a great closing to the episode.
After that, the race itself was badazz not needing to rely on some Chi that flows from the car compare to 5th stage. It was just good ole Initial D racing that made you want to watch a rematch between the two again. Today, any of the new Initial D races cannot match this one at all and this race is 18 years old now. I'm glad to see such an amazing race between Tomo and Takumi. Only race that could have the potential to top it if it ever happen was Bunta vs. Takumi.
The race of takumi vs god hand is equally good and I would say even better in that sense
@@mikaelbihl-matias9462 that race didn't make any sense to me at all. God Hand toying with Takumi and using 1 hand in racing is not a good idea. There was nothing really special about God Hand or God Foot besides them driving the new fastest sports cars. God Hand should have just ended the race on his 3rd run, but no, he wanted to toy around.
Then Ryosuke saying the S2000 is a difficult car to master is bias. S2000 is one of the best tuned car and super corner machine with light tunes as well. Amuse S2000, J's Racing S2000, Spoon S2000 and Seeker S2000 are all great sports cars that lap Tsukuba very well.
I find the 2 final races in 4th Stage boring and unexciting. It didn't capture any of the magic and by that point, it was time to end the series.

Plot Twist: Ryosuke had someone waiting near the finish line in case Takumi was going to lose. He instructed them to throw a squirrel onto the oncoming car if it was the ek9 in front.

My favorite race of all in the entire Initial D series, my second would be Ryosuke vs Shinigami.
This race has it all, best scenes, best soundtracks and the best song for me Forever Young and how it was used in perfect sync when Takumi used for the first time his blind attack.
as soon as forever young begins to play this race launches into a league of its own. best race in the series without question imo

Hard for me to decide if this or the God Foot race was the best race in Fourth Stage (for me at least!), both were equally good with some great tracks between the two, although I guess the God Foot benefits from being more than 1 episode long and having 5-6 different eurobeat tracks, including Back on the Rocks. The only thing I've had an issue with this particular race (Tomoyuki vs Takumi) is the official English subs at 8:33 when Tomoyuki says "In box car racing", I've always wondered whether that was a mistranslation or something.

Too bad for Tachi that they made the settings on the EK9 as if they were facing the FD3S while they aligned the AE86...
The best part is that that’s what costs Tachi the victory in the end. The 86 only manages to edge ahead on the final straight because the EK9 had to shift up and it didn’t.

The best scene in all of Initial D. You hear the phrase that someone is "built different", this perfectly encapsulates Takumi and the fact that, he is, built different. Couple that with the extraordinary music and you have pure perfection.
I always wondered if Todo went against Bunta when they were younger
The only thing I love about this show is that they make the cars as real as they can be, but if anyone knows Hondas that type R is FWD so therefore it can’t really dift
While it’s true that fwd typically don’t drift in this case it’s more to do with weight transfer and the way the driver controls throttle application meaning any car theoretically could enter a drift if executed correctly

You don't need to drift in fwd, its not something in nature of fwd. It is possible in fwd to drift, by lift off oversteer, but again, what's the point? Just attack the corners normally with fwd.
