I really hope I can own one of his knives one day. He makes the sickest knives Ive ever seen. All his knife models are so badass
Kev's word: "The flipper tab actually comes out of the handle, *which* *is* *really* *interesting* ..."
Kev in actuality: Absolutely hates that aspect of the design; just throw the whole thing in the garbage.
😂😂😂😂It's why we love you bro, you always keep it real. Thanks for the video, Craig Brown really is in a league of his own!
Lol in this case it was just interesting
I really want one of these love the blade shape can't wait to get one in hand
Looks amazing! I’m so digging it!!! 💯🙌🏼
That CBK scales reminds me of Tron.
I’d jump on this. They sell out so damn fast. I love the entire fsd series, especially the fsd-i.
The Blade has civivi FG esk vibes to it lol...awesome knife
That thing just gorgeous! Maybe one day I can own a Chris Brown.
I like this model more than the FSD for some reason. Looks great
I just bought this #002 Cortex XL off someone in the facebook Browns bst page. I was sold supposedly a BNIB condition knife. It sounds like you used it to cut possibly carry? So the edge isn’t going to be fresh and hopefully there isn’t any carry marks on it. I plan on caring it and using it at some point. Probably not ever selling it but I really hope it’s still at least looks like it’s in BNIB.
I dont think i cut anything but paper to test the edge. Was planning to do more but didn’t get around to it. Dont think i got any marks on it either. Def carried it for a few days. U should be good.
@@LeftyEDC update just scored #003 proto Cortex xl. I have a thing for three’s and proto’s…🤣…It’s cool that you say it should still be in LNIB condition because I might have to sell #002 when she gets here.🤣… It might turn into #003 proto for a collector and #002 for a user who knows. Only something my attachment issues and time can tell…🤣🤣🤣
Gorgeous blade
I died when you said $850 pivot instead of knife 🤣🤣🤣
Its an $850 pivot cuz if its glued shut aint no knife
@@LeftyEDCyeah at that point, you better just throw it away
To quote Thomas Edison, "that's fuckin sexy!"
I want one of these
that’s a great looking knife and clip 👌🏻
Looks screamin sharp
Cool knife. I'd thumb that flipper all day... and it would like it. But no, I thumb rear flippers so this thing looks like it could have great thumb action.
Your FSDs were probably not as good cutting because they weren't very sharp. Sharpened up, they're awesome. Maybe Craig has leveled up in sharpening? There's hope!
Little sporty-sport before flicking the knife 😂
Love my fsd-i
Someday maybe ill be able to afford one of these 😂
At this point I'd rather have your Stout v2 or the vanax knife. I confuse the models constantly. Lol. I can't get past the soft magnacut, at below 62 hrc count me out. I appsolutly think the Cortex XL might beat out my unicorn which is a FSD mini FSD. I'd say the FSD-I but I'm not 100% that the Magnacut was done the same way as the Cortex XL but I'm pretty sure he did the heat treat nice and hard at 63 /64. I know you don't care but people not caring may lead to if it's not broke don't fix it kinda mentality.
He has a reason though. Its not cuz hes ignorant or lazy. Its cuz his thought process is different. Whether thats right or wrong for u is a different story.
Now I'm confused. Do I want an FSD model or a Cortex XL? I guess which ever I find for sale first. Lol..
Careful with that thing 😂
That thing is sweeeeeeeee
I call dibs when you sell it
Ur 8th
850.. hellllll no
💯 Overpriced imo. I don’t give a f*ck that it is made in the USA.
Well worth it
@@LeftyEDC I mean, I’d grab one at table price (if that’s possible), jerk off with it for a little while then flip it for a few hundy profit 🤪
@@LeftyEDC didn't say I did.. thought Comment section was open to comments🤣
@@darinjenkins7954 didn’t say u did what? I just responded (well worth it) to ur hell no thing. The other comment was responding to Adamas
Sooo when you move it let me know
U got 9ths
Love the knife, but can't do 37 minutes. Sorry.
U can play on 2X that makes it 19 mins and change haha.
This looks so damn sexy
Quit tappin that dam clip !!
He definitely runs his magnacut at 60-61 hrc. From my experience his magnacut is to soft. Even people that dont use their knives alot want magnacut at 63-64 hrc. Hopefully he runs his steels harder in the future because i really like this knife and would be awesome to have one to go with my fsd-i.
What issues have u had with the fsd-i being 60-61? This thing is super thin so i think its gonna cut for awhile. Talked to Craig about it lastnight and he has his reasons for the heat treat. Until i test it and actually have experience im gonna trust him on it.
63-64 is too hard, between 61 and 63 and sharpen to 15 degrees per side and you'll have something that keeps it edge longer and less risk of chipping.
@@LeftyEDC I paid 1k from Craig for a fsd-i #311 and the edge from him was terrible and have sharpened it 3 times since at 15° per side. ( I've been free hand sharpening for 20yrs. so yes I can sharpen) While cutting double wall cardboard the edge completely rolls to the point of not being able to be stropped back. During regular use it dulls very fast and constantly have to strop the knife. I own crk, mcnees, Koenig, hmc, DCC, OZ, spyderco, houge, and Gersh blades knives in magnacut and all of them are excellent except the fsd-i. I buy premium knives and except premium quality, I don't see a problem with that. I'm putting my knife # and issues out there only hurting me if I ever chose to resell so why would I lie about what I saying. I'm choosing to share my experience with the knife because had I known before hand I wouldn't of bought the knife. As of now brown knives runs his magnacut to soft and doesn't hold a good edge. I don't care about toughness in my pocket jewelry folding knife, I want it to cut and cut for a long time so I don't need to sharpen it every week and in a yr end up with a folding ice pick.
Ya, for the premium price he’s charging there really shouldn’t be anything wrong especially something as big as that. Most owners probably never figure that out bc they never cut with it. I love the looks of Craig’s milling and aesthetics, but this comment convinced me I’d be better of going w a Roosie, so thank u, I appreciate your honesty
@@LeftyEDCno people in the comments who have never heat treated a knife or tested a blade post heat treatment no better than Craig. Owned and sharpened a lot of his knives his stuff is on point. Guy is an incredible maker.
If your gonna use Magnacut step up your game or I’m not even slightly interested period for F’s sake!!!
ur so angry 🤣. I haven’t tested it much yet but the geometry is phenomenal so im guessing it’s gonna be good.
@@LeftyEDC you know me not an angry guy tired of sub par Magnacut if ya wanna go 60-61 use something else not gonna pay top dollar for meeeh heat treat that goes for everyone tired of it
@@toreycasey1214idk he made good points when i asked him about it. So far it cuts amazingly and is super thin. He’s going for geometry over high hrc for edge retention and trying to keep it as tough as possible so it doesn’t chip being so thin. He had charts and crucibles heat treat protocol and everything so hes definitely thought it through and tested. 🤷♂️
Could t agree more. TRM just released their neutron in Magnacut at 60-62 and I’d rather just have the original 20cv at that point.
@@LeftyEDCThis is absolutely the thing people don't understand, you put a nice 15 degree edge on something it's gonna stay sharp longer, so tougher better. I sharpened my m390 knives to 20 or minimum 18 degrees and I end having to sharpen out little chips on them 2 or 3 times while the 3V knife I sharpen to 15 or even 13 degrees is still screaming sharp, not chipped, and I haven't had to bring it anywhere near a stone.
looks like a slicey knife
How the f were you able to grab one of these??? Sold yet? 🤣
How did the guy who got 001 get one? 🤷♂️. Stole it like me probably
wtf is a ti connector bearing those look like black nylon caged bearings
i see its a brand. that ive never heard of
Ti connector is where makers get a lot of their hardware. They are delrin caged ceramic bearings
@@LeftyEDC thanks id rather have brass caged or solid like skiffs or gillian.gillians are pretty amazing. but steve is a badass person and very customer friendly
@@theknifeconnection9571i used to use Gillians a lot but they started binding up after awhile so it was a pain to disassemble the knife and clean them and reassemble. Skiffs never do that and yea Steve is awesome so i just roll with them
grail shit
