Well, this one was kinda sad for me. The day prior to testing, I went over to Grissom MS to check out the new 130 install, confirming it still wasn’t hooked up. So after University Park, I tried booking it over to Tinley Park, specifically to Grissom’s bolt. For a second I didn’t think I was gonna make it, catching the end of a NB CN train and dealing with traffic on I-57. However, we gained time from 10:32 to 10:28, giving me just barely enough time to throw my phone into position for the audio and secondary shot. Just a few seconds after my camera stabilized, this unit roared to life for what is safe to say the last time. This thing was very loud to say the least, vibrating the ground and as ear piercing as a Pleasant Prairie P-15 when it faced me. This unit was the 3rd and probably one of the loudest Thunderbolts I ever record and heard up close, and I sure am gonna miss it. The new 130 should be hooked up by August or September.

Thank you! I can relate, hearing this from Matteson and passing it often, Tinley really feels different now that it’s not a 7/13 thunderbolt system anymore.

@@trainsandsirensofilinmiwi2080That was the plan at first, but judging how their replacing this one, I doubt it. They’ve been migrating them out for quite some time. Odell and the Church units were removed for their history of problems, pump station and 175th for their leaks being worse, and this one probably for its history of failing.

I've lived in Tinley Park all my life and hearing this thunderbolt every month at this school was making me feel sick

Another one bites the dust... it's a shame that they're taking this one down, but it's getting up there in age too. Still, it runs fine, though. They could have waited a bit longer.
Right before my birthday (July 14)... that honestly made me sad about the Thunderbolt :(

Not bad to replace one of these as these things suck. They need tons of maintenance because of the blower which needs to be oiled, and they are prone to brush problems on the chopper. Replacing it with a 130 is a dumb decision as a 130 doesn’t carry that far, but replacing it with an Equinox would be a much better option as those are louder and carry further
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL The only reason I found the decision to replace this one kinda stupid was because this was the healthiest and loudest bolt, as it’s actually on a standpipe rather than a light pole. I would’ve expected the Memorial bolt to get replaced instead due to its leak, but I guess not
@@Fratt4008they should of replaced it with an ASC T128 have a nice low tone and carry more than 2001-130s do
