  • This Is How The Best Lechón In Puerto Rico Is Made
Recorded on 18 January 2020. What a great day for lechon. After staying overnight at my aunt's house I visited my cousin Marcos' business just a couple miles away in San Sebastian to get some lechon (roasted pig). As you saw on the video, I learned a lot that day.
In case you are interested, my cousin Marcos, also known as ñoco, sells only on Saturdays and Sundays. The lechon is usually done by 11:00 AM. He is located in San Sebastian, Barrio Guacio, Hwy 119, just about 200 feet from the intersection of PR 433.
BTW, this is the last vlog for this trip. A couple from the air videos will come shortly.

That Lechon looks so good. The last time I ate Lechon was in the Philippines. I remember how juicy and tasty the meat was and the crunch of the skin. Lechon must have its roots in Spanish Culture, but it is taken many steps further in the former colonies. That is a wonderful tradition. As a aficionado of culinary arts, this is what I love about food.

Meketrefe means you are ill mannered & badly dressed. My Mother in law from Barceloneta says. Me cargo en na, use that when you don't wanna say real bad words. I loved hearing your cousin & his compadres talk the real campo dialect, music to my ears.

Patricia, I work at the Navy Yard at the end of Broad Street in Philly. I have been going to PR frequently lately, but that wasn't always the case. I also canceled my trip for June. Not going anytime soon, at least until all is clear. Las Marias is a tiny sleepy town in the mountains. Great if you want to just relax. Thanks for watching.

You are right, just listening to what they said was very entertaining, but I had to be careful what I recorded because the "me cague en na'" would be said every now and then. Lol. I am thinking just what you said. On our next hike I may invite anyone that would like to join us to come, at least for part of it. We are thinking of hiking from downtown Lares to downtown Las Marias via some routes I used to live in. It is more than 15 miles, but people can only join parts of it along the way. Unfortunately, I don't know when because all my plans have changed due to the virus. Sometime in the future.

@@oviduran Thanks for feedback, Ovi. Yes, indeed. Unfortunately, Everyone's life has turned a bit upside-down and unpredictable. I think this is the 'new normal' for now, anyway....Well, im def interested. Just please give enuf advance time of a couple of months. So, i can prepare for time. If not on one trip? Then, perhaps, Another. LOL. All depends on timing. Im sure you'll be returning regularly. We will play it by ear. I think with time? U will get more people interested. So many of us want to reconnect with our heritage. So much to see in the island. One can go many times and still not see everything. Peace to you. Keep us posted. Great set of videos you generously share with us. BTW....I know what you mean about the words. The natives are friendly but can be quite colorful with their words. LOL. Still my people. They would give shirt off their back. That older generation is slowly dying off. I want to experience it more before they go.
