I grew up in Conroe, it’s just a place to live. The lake is about all that is there. It’s peaceful for the most part but a lot of drunk drivers.
That’s all over the world genius, Conroe isn’t more prone to it than any where else. Idiots inhabit every city on the planet

I grew up here from 1995-2008, attended elementary through Sophmore year. It was a small, little town while I was there. I went back recently and don't recognize the majority of it now being highly developed. Spent my evenings, weekends and summers at Candy Cane Park, & my sister was married at Conroe tower.
Just watched your video. We loved it. We are about 7 years out, planning for retirement. Love that whole area.
My daughter and her family live in Conroe and my sister in law lives in Montgomery. We visit twice a year and really enjoy ourselves. Looking to move and semi retire within 1 years time.
Id say the woodlands is probably one of the most impressive cities in texas, ive been all across texas and i havent seen a city quite like it, but conroe is more affordable to live in, ill say that.
Theres nothing really bad about conroe, but if youre thinking about huge attractions, not so much. South of downtown conroe is more of the poor area, where walking the streets youll run into guys asking for change for weird reasons. So if you do move here, dont bother looking south of downtown.

I’m from CA went to Conroe a couple of years ago and felt it was dead I drove through the “historic downtown” around noon time during a weekday and it was deserted. I saw a brand new community the house was beautiful but I could not see myself living there

KAS Skate Park used to be an old 6 foot Half pipe. I use to take my son when he was like eight and nine years old and he would ride his scooters on that half pipe and all the older kids would ask me, Hey, is your son sponsored? He use to shred that half pipe like it was nothing.
I miss those days! Bear Branch skate park was are other go to spot in the Woodlands.
5 months out but I’ve been looking since about 10 months out. I’m looking at Pearland. I just want somewhere where I can road cycle and run with a good variety of roads and trails that are safe.

I was born and lived most of my life in north Texas. I’ve been gone since ‘89 but coming down in April to look at a tiny home community. Do you have any information about communities where you can place tiny homes? I’m moving down from Alaska so reality my move will be 1.5 years away.
I'm researching about 11 weeks from when I want to be living there.
Looking at the spring/woodlands/Conroe area.
Hopefully within six months. We are very interested in the Humble / Atastocita / Kingwood area, and then north up to Conroe as well to stretch budget.
I would not recommend Humble, Crime rate is high. I currently live in kingwood. I’d go for kingwood or Atascocita.
We escaped Kingwood 2 years ago and never looked back. Crime, insurance, water bills, taxes skyrocketing since Houston annexed us. There are restaurants but they're pretty forgettable and there's usually quite a wait. Do your due diligence. Check and see how much all that will cost you.
Conroe is still laid back, with a proper lake and “historic downtown” Conroe is slowly becoming a progressive city. Definitely not a sleepy town no more! Id look into Grand Central Park to be Conroes next hub, with the Hyatt convention center and SHSU expansion that area is gonna 🚀

I'm 5 years planning. I have to wait until my girlfriend retire. I do have a question. I'm looking for 1 to 3 acres in or near conroe. My dream is to build a barndimium. I'm a retired veteran of 22 years (National Guard) with a 100% disability. I'm also a retired police officer of 30 years. I guess my question is, how hard is it to find 1 to 3 acres, and are barndos a thing there? I'm planning a trip there within a few months to look around. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I’m looking in to Conroe near lake , but the tax rates I have to watch ,3.0 - 3.3 % is high I’m about 3 1/2 years away from retirement, rather pay more for property,with less tax rate, I knew person lives in wood forest , his house appraised $480,000 his taxes were $12,000,that was in 2020

Watch for and avoid any new development in the old Conroe Oil field.. They shouldn’t allow development there, but don’t take it for granted. There is already one Crater lake there. But the rest of Conroe is GREAT. …. They got away with illegal oil production methods. especially in the 1940’s when the gov was demanding oil for the war effort. Most old oil fields are ok but that one is questionable

Take my advice as a local you don’t want to move to Conroe it’s not what he’s making it out to be! Downtown is al lawyer offices and the court house the streets are terrible the traffic sucks the infrastructure sucks medical care is terrible ! Dining is bad unless you want to eat Mexican food 7 days a week and there are two sets of railroad tracks all 4 directions Also a huge illegal alien population try Katy instead
Conroe Texas isn't all that great. Just like any other cities and towns in Texas. Texas in general is a boring hot state.
