I really enjoyed this lovely footage from 1959. I was eight years of age and had never heard of All Saints, Margaret Street.
When one compares the devotion of those years, the numbers attending ect, then we must accept that we now live in an age when Christian faith has to be sought after and won.
The days of obligatory worship have long gone!

What happened to our church ? Where is that faith & reverence today ? We have lost something perilous !

Four Oxford D.D. s holding up the canopy. I recognised Tom Parker of Univ., but not the others.

This video made me feel depressed. An era when rite of service was the English Missal, real nuns, a valid male priesthood. Need I go on? Compare that to the total shambles Anglicanism is today.

Yes, yes and yes, but don't get me started or I'll never shut up about it.

Did ASMS ever use the English Missal? I thought the saying was "libretto by Cranmer, choreography by Fortescue"

I would have thought all Anglo Catholic Churches of that era used the English Missal guided by the Ritual Notes.

Presumably the All Saints Sisters of the Poor

@@lockerby Thank you. Having followed up your suggestion, my homework reveals that you are probably right. (How sad that the Sisters’ pioneering specialist hospice for terminally ill young adults closed in 2018.)

@@MrIvorfan Not quite! Douglas House had to close, but Helen House remains very active - as do the offshoots www.helenanddouglas.org.uk/about-us/our-history/

@@JohnFrancisFriendship Just checked the website you recommended - but no nuns are to be seen!
And then I checked www.allsaintssistersofthepoor.org.uk/who-we-are.asp. They do not look like nuns nowadays. They even ditched their cowls and they look like elderly women in waitress dresses.
