i am from northeast, here's my review .
Since Northeast has lots of militants groups , Assam Rifles are the best in these situation, they are best for counterinsurgency here in northeast. AR is almost like army hence their weapons, armoured vehicles are much better than CAPF.
MERGER NOT GOOD . pls dont compare/merge ITBP with Assam rifles. ITBP was never estb. for counterinsurgency and the Indo-china high altitude terrain, climate is completely different than northeast. in fact only CRPF comes close to AR for counterinsurgency in jungles ,forest of northeast . Imagine ITBP with their INSAS rifles fighting militants . haha .
ARMY leadership in operations is much needed in AR. since a country can't deploy ARMY on borders , so by deploying AR we are indirectly using Indian Army on our boundary with china and myanmar.
In fact, AR should be under army instead of MHA

आसाम राईफल्स रक्षा मंत्रालय के अधीन 1965 में नहीं बल्कि 1962 में ली गई थी। 1965 में तो प्रशासनिक कार्यो के लिये इसे विदेश मंत्रालय से गृह मंत्रालय में रखा गया था
I say only use 2 CAPF..... BSF and CRPF..... CRPF for regular police duties (CRPF + CISF) and BSF (BSF+ AR + SSB + ITBP) for everything else
I'll tell u why AR should not be merged with ITBP(CAPF)
1) Assam rifles has a history of participating in both world wars and post wars.
2) what Rashtriya Rifles does in J&k is what AR does in Northeast.
3) It was AR who safely escorted Dalai Lama from NEFA to Assam in 1962.
4) Assam rifles *serving* personnel also gets some of the army benefits like csd, Military hospitals, dsp account, reservation in army schools, and can use army transit camps. These facilities are not given to any of the capf.
5) IMA is only for Army, but AR cadre of officers are trained there.
6) AR decorations is is just like any of the army regiment decorations. It has got all of the military decorations except for PVC.

The matter regarding merger of forces had come up in MHA, SS IS chaired the meeting in the presence of DsG/senior officers of CAPFs. Approval in principle has been executed to effect the merge of SSB with ITBP.
Effective rationing of resources and effective command took precedence over other considerations.
The earlier move to remove civilian personnel from SSB was done with this in mind.
एक अखबार लेख के अनुसार इस फोर्स को आईटीबीपी में विलय करने का अनुमान है। अगर यह हो जाता है तो लगभग 184 साल पुरानी फोर्स का दुखद अंत होगा। यह नाम तो खतम हो जाएगा मगर ये जहां रहेगे वाहा विजय प्राप्त करेगे।

The better alternative is to raise (double) the strength of the Army & merge Assam Rifles in them, making it another regiment (Assam Regiment). CO-IN operations can be entrusted to the Army.

Bro that's assam regiment's song not assam rifles.When assam rifles was formed in 1835 only nepali origin gorkhas were recruited in Assam rifles.Assam rifles 100% jawans were of nepali origin basically gorkhas from nepal and northestern states of india.But now anyone can join Assam Rifles.Assam Rifles insignia itself is a crossed khukuri and khukuri is the pride of every gorkhali and not to forget the tirchi topi which is also derived from gorkha rifles and later bought to Assam rifles.

service period of army personnal till age ( 45 yrs ) where as para military and capf till age( 60 yrs ) differeance 15 years . thats is the reasons of differeance in facilities between two forces but they ( capf and para military ) get the pension from the nps ...
