As someone who has seen/ been in multiple Pinocchio variations. In the Lives of Puppets is a Pinocchio retelling. It hits all of the beats that make it one.
As someone who has read several, and is writing a, Wizard of Oz retelling, ITLOP is definitely not one. 😆 It totally has Wizard of Oz vibes, but it’s not a retelling of the story.
My guess is “I keep my exoskeletons to myself” by Marisa Crane. Like “Our wives under the sea” it also deals with grief, is sapphic, and has a unique writing style.
I'm excited to see what book you think pulls the message from Our Wives Under the Sea off better, because I gave that one 3 stars i think, but was intrigued by what it was trying to do
The only book I can guess is Annihilation, but that's entirely based on a "if you like that, try this" video that paired them and I can't swear it wasn't the movie, rather than the book.
Have you read The Word is Murder?? I cant believe i waited on long to read it. Its such a fantastic murder mystery and fast read!! Adding Slewfoot to my tbr!!
You should read Disco Deathtrap by Cameron Roubique. It is the perfect cheesy horror story. It reads just like a campy 80s slasher film. It takes place at a Roller Rink. It is awesome.
I thought the same thing about the wayward series, but I’m SO SAD to say, the new book was only a 4 😭 and I TRIED to convince myself it was a 5 and I just couldn’t
I find your love of strong settings and ambience so interesting bc I hate those elements. I read so much contemporary romance specifically bc I want only our world and no distractions 😂
I definitely want something out of the ordinary in my stories most of the time, even if it’s a just subculture etc from reality that I don’t know much about. I already live in our world and get bored with it, so don’t necessarily want to read hyper-realistic stories. 😂
I love seeing you actually do well in one of these type of videos. It’s like we let out a breath we didn’t realize we’d been holding, ha

@imaginepageant agreed it has the vibes but none of the plot beats.
i totally feel you on the 4.5 counting as 5 stars. 4.5 is a perfect book but the vibes were off that day

Loved Our Wives Under the Sea! might have to bump this one up on my TBR
My guess for the similar book is Shark Heart! I thought they had similar messages and imagery!

Same! Would be very interested to read another one similar but different. If that makes sense 😅
Megan you HAVE to watch Lisa Frankenstein. You want more campy 80s horror? This is it babes
Here for The Writing Retreat love! I get why people hated it but it was probably my favorite thriller of last year.
I don't get why they hate it. It was so fast paced and thrilling!
Yale- hellbent, undersea mission- wives under sea not space (I think.)
You are not the only one. I love The Writing Retreat, I read it in a night!
I implooorreeee you to watch Lisa Frankenstein, campy horror set in the 80s!
You did so well in your predictions!
Oh, also try we sold our souls by Grady Hendrix. I thought it was a fun read.

Try Wolfsong by T.J. Klune, it's sooo good.

the in the lives of puppets trauma is real everytime someone talks about it, i have to skip forward because i just can't think about that book
Hell Bent put me in a huuuge slump. I ended up liking it but I think I’ll like it more once we see it as part of the whole series arc.
The This Country clip is making me sad. I still haven't seen series 3! I can't get it here.
The blond hair looked cool but I really really like the brown hair 🖤 nobody asked lmao loved the vid! 🖤😭

My guess is also Shark Heart
I’ve still never read a wayward children story 😢
Gotta be Sharkheart!
my guess is Foe by Ian Reid ☺️☺️
yale
i was also not a fan of In the lives of puppets. it was a 3 star for me. I felt similar to you.
more five stars than not is a win in my book! also i think 4.5 basically counts as a 5
Yeah whenever people say that I'm like ok but did you put it as a 4 or 5 on Goodreads?
❤❤❤
it's yald
I hope Leigh still tells the same story in less books. We need explanations lol
What show is the clip from with the lady with the bicycle? 😂
This Country
