    I own this exact bass. The toggle switch is not a series/parallel switch. It simply splits the coil. Towards the neck gives you the front coil, middle gives you the full pick up and the back position gives you the back half of the coil.

      I have heard 3 different explanations for what the switch positions do. None of those explanations came from Sterling. I would really like to know once & for all how the pickup is wired with the switch. I am going to contact Sterling. I will let you all know what I find out.

      Neck is series, both coils, middle is series with filter, both coils again and bridge is parallel with again both coils. No splitting of coils as far as factory specs are concerned.
