Working out how to signal to police that you are not the threat is a recurring issue. In the shown video it was best case as LEOs already made contact with the civilians that provided aid. Things get dicey if responding LEOs are not immediately aware of civilian support. The unfortunate shooting of Johnny Hurley in Arvada Colorado(2021) who ended a mass shooting spree by responding police exemplifies how sketchy initial contact can be between parties that would be in support of each other if they both knew of each other.

Question: how does one identify oneself as a good guy/gal?

9:18 I can shed some light on why the deputy is asking seemingly dumb questions. For context, this event took place in the state of Washington and I am also a LEO in Washington. Threatening to kill someone in Washington is a crime called felony harassment. An element of the crime is the victim needs to feel fear that the suspect would actually carry out the threat. Even though it's obvious, you should never assume and ask the question so the victims response is recorded. This lessens the chance some defense lawyer will get the suspect off on a technicality because the victim never actually said they believed the suspect would carry out their threats.
THIS☝( ͡👁 ͜ʖ ͡👁)👆💯%❗ I'm sure that Mike did not understand what was being documented and why. Maybe he will see your comment and add a note in the description about his misunderstanding of what was being assembled.
My town has only its community members. no police no first responders . We all take up the mantle to protect each other if needed. Westby Mt. locked loaded frosty and ready to protect AMERICA
Our local deputies have a few solid people, but I cant say all of them are. Same with the local police there are some pretty effective officers and a LOT of officers with chips on their shoulders.
I was watching this video with my wife just yesterday...they'd be glad they were by my house. Come out better equipped than the cops and they'd be like, "wait...what?" Hahaha God love em. Dude with his chrome 92 was gettin' it. Keep rockin', Mike!!!
Here on the Navajo Reservation, response time is roughly 45 minutes, 1 hour in some cases. With the area coverage there is simply not enough officers. With the up tick of home invasions, arming yourself is definitely more apparent in this area.
marine who recently got out here. cops do not like veterans i know from experience. they treated me like shit for needing mental assistance. slammed on the ground, robbed, and tased when i was compliant and respectful.
I'm a Marine vet, too. I'm also a reserve deputy. Your statement is false as far as my location goes. Seems like half the cops I know are vets. Just saying, you're making a pretty broad statement.
@@iceberg0311 as a cop do you actively refuse to carry out unconstitutional orders? If not you're not a cop or veteran I would want to associate with. Your anecdotal experience and opinion on character mean nothing. When we have cops that act like they're entering an enemy territory and are more concerned with their "safety" than the Rights of the people, there's a problem... Oh and I'm a Marine vet as well. This boils down to a principles and values problem. Zero accountability for law enforcement. If they want to act like military police I think the UCMJ should apply.
@@gridtac2911 I replied, but I don't know what happened to it. I haven't had the opportunity, but I absolutely would refuse unconstitutional orders; Not sure why you're acting like I wouldn't. My anecdotal experience and opinion mean just as much as the OP's, but on a similar note, I don't have to rely on anecdote to point out that he's making a statement that impugns an entire group of people and THAT is something for which anecdote is not sufficient. Those cops you're talking about are statistically small in number. The principles and values to which cops are held are determined by the people who live where those cops are employed. So no, there's not zero accountability for law enforcement on the whole because it's not true where I live. Also, I fully support criminal and civil consequences for cops and departments when rights are violated when appropriate. Our rights, protected by the Constitution and given by God, are supreme.
I found out the hard way they are not our friends. I just watched the entire video and it looks like this incident occurred in early 2022 since the suspect pleaded not guilty on February 18, 2022. And the Deputies returned to duty sometime in 2023. Good job on the local residents stepping up the help the deputies.
I think it would be interesting to devote a video to best etiquette/strategy/logistics of actually going about backing up/assisting/responding to a law-enforcement officer how to affectively identifying yourself as a non-threat/civilian defense role so that you don’t get shot by incoming or responding law enforcement in the chaos of it all.
He’s also got multiple people talking at the same time. People need to learn to convey information effectively in the moment. We hear it because we’re analyzing from the comfort and safety of a screen with the wonders of closed captions at the bottom lol.
for most people their EDC is plenty enough and they will still probably never use it. BUT like i always say, its better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it
neighbors handled it very well. The cops could use a bit more training maybe? They didn't take the threat serious enough. Probably comes from dealing with idiots all day every day.
Or from this idea that is being pushed that cops need to stop looking at every situation as potentially dangerous. But hey, this is the type of mindset people want cops to have these days
Wow, great video. I don't know if my local PD would even entertain talking about this subject due to liability issues. That blue line is very, very thin--groups like American Contingency become even more important at times like this--training to face the unexpected. Being inoculated against stress so you can respond in a coherent and responsible manner. Thanks Mike!
I’m in California and no matter what I’m in to protect my family and friends but I’d be talking a big chance helping LE . The DAs, Judges would be bad enough, the arriving police would also be very dangerous. I train physically all the time and with firearms couple times a month the best I can . Not saying I wouldn’t help LE but my timing better be real good. Also I’ve put to practice some of your videos thanks for that.
As a LEO I love seeing the community band together and help these officers. What the man did was brave and courageous. I do see something’s in this video that could have been done better but I was not in the situation so I’m not going to comment on the officers actions, instead we can use this video as a training aid. I agree with everything you have said Mike. I am thankful to work somewhere that my Sheriff is the same way as Sheriff Lamb. Keep up the great work Mike!

@9:21 I get what you're saying SGM. The LEO is confirming charges. Its not that he's not "picking it up." He is ensuring a crime has occurred. Does this put the LEOs at a tactical disadvantage? Yes. However, these are not Soldiers. They do not initiate contact; they react to it.
Absolutely be a component of your community & be ready to engage it only makes everyone safer & strength in numbers. It’s always positive to make your neighborhood & community stronger. Good stuff Mike my brother, great topic 👊
You're right Mike. I live in the largest county in South Carolina. I'm told that, at any one time, there are 15 deputies on duty; mostly concentrated in the high crime areas. Stay frosty; strapped and dangerous.
As a retired LEO/SWAT guy, I would love to have a good kit bag and truck gun like I had at work, but I still worry about auto theft and auto burglary, even in lower crime- North Idaho. I’d hate to be out “shopping” and come back to find my rifle and kit stolen from my vehicle. I saw that OIS video a while back. I think I would have opted to request the downed officer’s rifle and handled the problem with that over my limited capacity pistol.
As a Patrol Officer I just wanted to make clear that cops with rifles had been on site of the Vegas shooting but chose to hide instead of move to contact and eliminate the threat. I agree with what your saying though 100%
This is a special time A time our country has never experienced We don’t have twenty years of veterans. We get that every twenty years What we do have is 20 years of COMBAT veterans Extremely capable individuals They should not be pushed aside or devalued I served for ten years Deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan Had the privilege to get some basic training from the SF while stationed at Ft Carson There are so many with knowledge and capabilities above me within our country Probably in your town city possibly your neighbors We don’t want to fight but damn if we don’t know how
The old adage; “better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it”, or as Mike says, Be Prepared. It’s all a balancing act, but the “community” concept puts that balance in your favor, squads, platoons, take your pick, you might not be carrying it but some one else will be, same for families inside the community with regards to kit. Stand together, know and trust each other. They trained us all to live this way, go with it. Be Safe Out There
Absolutely right Mike! Working in a small Sheriff’s Office as a patrol Deputy, often means you have to make connections with the local community. I worked midnight tour and had a 15-20 minute wait for back up, on a good day.. I carried a Shotgun, patrol rifle, duty weapon and a backup weapon, along with extra ammo and or magazines for each.
I was going to say the same. Minor difference. Unlawful discharge coupled with terrorist threats, or assault with deadly weapon. Both felonies but one more serious.
These citizens are awesome. And since you mentioned Mark Lamb I'll say this and def stand behind it...every town in this country would be much safer and people would be much nicer to the cops with a man like that in charge. Not only is he just an overall badass but more importantly he is fair, caring and he empowers and inspiring the officers that work for him. If youre reading rhis and you do not know who he is you should google him and check out some of the RUclips videos he is in. As always Mike, thanks for all you do.

I have been inside the survivalist/'prepper' sphere since the 1980's, while inside the Marine Corps and out. That is as true in 'every day carry' as it is when "Apocalypse X" drops.

I do want to commend the police for one thing. They knew that there was some amount of safety with the neighbors and did gather intelligence. That was good. Underestimated the wackjob neighbor though. They probably will never make that mistake again.
It’s a nightmare when these social media companies encourage so much bad behavior and then call it a prank. I feel bad for the troops that have to constantly be the one that fixes sick pranks
personally I wouldn't trust most police to protect my family should there be a threat. some yes but large majority get stressed, dont know how to engage or simply do not de-escalate situations. being said i would 100% be willing to support them in any given situation. but for me and mine, i'd rely on myself first

Then when they have that down 95% worry about the rest! That’s my take on it. And Gif Bless you brother! Be safe
Thats how it should be. Cops and 3 letter agencies were literally who the founding fathers warned us about.
I'm with you Mike. It's to much stuff going on to not be ready
Our local deputies have a few solid people, but I cant say all of them are. Same with the local police there are some pretty effective officers and a LOT of officers with chips on their shoulders.
I was watching this video with my wife just yesterday...they'd be glad they were by my house. Come out better equipped than the cops and they'd be like, "wait...what?" Hahaha
God love em. Dude with his chrome 92 was gettin' it. Keep rockin', Mike!!!
It went differently for Johnny Hurley.
@@sunuvliberty_III ...who?
@@rmp5s Johnny Hurley was a civilian who took out a shooter who'd just killed a cop but was shot and killed by responding officers in Arvada CO
@@kevinm8051 Ah. Can happen. For sure. Still gotta try. Gotta do what's right.
Here on the Navajo Reservation, response time is roughly 45 minutes, 1 hour in some cases. With the area coverage there is simply not enough officers. With the up tick of home invasions, arming yourself is definitely more apparent in this area.
Hey cousin. How ya doing?
Shameful, but more the rule these dats than the exception. Stay safe brother.
Wait cops respond on you're reservation they don't even come where I live. It's wild.
marine who recently got out here. cops do not like veterans i know from experience. they treated me like shit for needing mental assistance. slammed on the ground, robbed, and tased when i was compliant and respectful.
I'm a Marine vet, too. I'm also a reserve deputy. Your statement is false as far as my location goes. Seems like half the cops I know are vets. Just saying, you're making a pretty broad statement.
Half of my local departments are veterans. The police and the sheriffs
I think you just live in a shitty town
With that said if anyone including an oath breaking officer is in immediate danger and I have the means to intervene or protect even though they supposedly aren’t required to do so by federal law , you butter believe I’d throw my life down for that POS. But I’m stupid like that and guess that’s why I’m a Marine. Semper Fi
I just watched the entire video and it looks like this incident occurred in early 2022 since the suspect pleaded not guilty on February 18, 2022. And the Deputies returned to duty sometime in 2023. Good job on the local residents stepping up the help the deputies.
Im pretty sure it was bird shot, not buck shot.
We just had a Sheriff killed a couple years ago Brewer , he bled out in just a few seconds when a guy all methed up shooting from his apt
This cop isn’t listening to half the shit these guys are saying or the answers he’s being given. He’s just going through the motions.
Unfortunately, yep.
He’s also got multiple people talking at the same time. People need to learn to convey information effectively in the moment. We hear it because we’re analyzing from the comfort and safety of a screen with the wonders of closed captions at the bottom lol.

@@Arlon71 there’s 2 or 3 guys talking and it’s pretty calm actually. It’s not as hard as you think.
I saw this about a month ago. Good on these citizens who at least one of them was a vet, but good on all of them regardless.
for most people their EDC is plenty enough and they will still probably never use it.
BUT
like i always say, its better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it
Exactly.
Thank you sir for your time and attention!
neighbors handled it very well.
Glad to hear you are feeling better brother 😁👍
Veterans especially and citizens absolutely have a duty to support the police in defending the community. In reporting, in observing, and in reacting. Semper Fi
All they do is come after us law abiding citizens and Vet's
What happens when they light you up right along side the bad guy? More often than not the good citizen gets killed by the police.
I’m good. I’ll keep myself and my immediate family safe. I’m not gonna roll the dice on an obese deputy shooting me in the back.
@esotericcommonsense6366I've got a bad back but I've got more spine than you do.. your comment speaks for yourself
@esotericcommonsense6366I’m in Texas which is home to fat cowardly officers. Remember Uvalde.
@@PunkN_JTMwhat about when the badge wearers are the criminals? They ignore your rights every single day. It’s best to not interject yourself in all situations where you are not aware of all the details.
Washington gets pretty wild at times the suspect was using birdshot and peppered the officers.
From an X LEO with 35 years experience 20 SWAT everything you said is correct.
I seen this one. Complete and utter respect for those men / neighbors. ❤
Very brave and just for the veteran to step up. Thank you Sir for your service to our country and community.

Good for you Mr Glover.... this bridge of what you do during the "it won't happen on my watch".. so absolutely remain calm and handle the situation..
I’m retired LEO and agree, the LEO is trying to make light of this call. The cop talking needs to get his ass over to his partner and back him up.
You're right Mike. I live in the largest county in South Carolina. I'm told that, at any one time, there are 15 deputies on duty; mostly concentrated in the high crime areas. Stay frosty; strapped and dangerous.
Good video, that is a Browning hoodie...hunters will understand
I'm surprised the DA didn't charge the 1911 guy with something.
Right 😂. Reckless endangerment, impersonating a police officer, conspiracy to commit murder...take your pick.
Charging the guy who helped the officer? Who would??

This is a special time
A time our country has never experienced
We don’t have twenty years of veterans. We get that every twenty years
What we do have is
20 years of COMBAT veterans
Extremely capable individuals
They should not be pushed aside or devalued
I served for ten years
Deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan
Had the privilege to get some basic training from the SF while stationed at Ft Carson
There are so many with knowledge and capabilities above me within our country
Probably in your town city possibly your neighbors
We don’t want to fight but damn if we don’t know how
The old adage; “better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it”, or as Mike says, Be Prepared. It’s all a balancing act, but the “community” concept puts that balance in your favor, squads, platoons, take your pick, you might not be carrying it but some one else will be, same for families inside the community with regards to kit. Stand together, know and trust each other. They trained us all to live this way, go with it. Be Safe Out There
Always appreciate your insight and preparedness Mike! God bless brother!
Great to see you back up and making great content. Thank you
Absolutely right Mike!
Great content as usual Mike. Thanks.
Mike is such a king.
He says “he shot it” not he shot at us. Besides the point but details are important
I was going to say the same. Minor difference. Unlawful discharge coupled with terrorist threats, or assault with deadly weapon. Both felonies but one more serious.
"Shots Fired."
"I'm hit!"
Veterans and Civilians y'all got next!
Let's Go!!!!!

Officers seem under-trained and de-funded 😟 Hats off to those civilians for stepping up and being prepared to administer medical attention as well!!
They are under trained. Its far too short in the US
Amen, Brother I agree. How do we go about doing this. We the people need to stand together. We need to be ready.
It's a two-way street. I honestly won't help law enforcement until I stop seeing most of law enforcement treat everybody like second class citizens.

Good job on the citizens and very happy to see the officers are ok!
I believe this was in Bellingham, not far from where I live in Washington.Thank you for covering this Mike. Shows that a good guy with a guy can do good.
I have been inside the survivalist/'prepper' sphere since the 1980's, while inside the Marine Corps and out. I will pass on the most important lesson that I have learned: When dealing with Skeptics (capitalization intentional), the first and most vital truth is that the Skeptic has to be right every single time...but the 'prepper' only needs to be right once. That is as true in 'every day carry' as it is when "Apocalypse X" drops.
First time seeing your show. You are absolutely right and those of us with actual combat experience need to step up.
I subscribed to all your content and look forward to seeing your future posts

I do want to commend the police for one thing. They knew that there was some amount of safety with the neighbors and did gather intelligence. That was good. Underestimated the wackjob neighbor though. They probably will never make that mistake again.
Thanks for sharing your experience and training.
