    This is very similar to my grandmother's cookies. Big difference between her recipe and yours is not nearly as much molasses in them. We always called them ginger cookies but the recipe calls them molasses cookies. I make them every Christmas. They are my favorite Christmas cookie.

    Would have thought lard was better than shortening, healthwise and cooking too... Have Healthy happy New Year.

      Any type of animal fat is healthier than shortening or margarine. Just make sure it is grass fed and not hydrogalized.

      Lard is better in the flavor department.

    Hi Greg. I baked the this evening. They r addictive, can't stop at one or 2! 🤭
    I don't cook with shortening , it's fake oil. I used butter but only 1/ 2 cp. Think I'll try butter and oil next time. I used organic unbleached flour with half cp of organic WW flour. I think with the heavier flour they raised more, not as flat as yrs . I did try the salt on 4 of them. Not bad but I wldn't do it on all of them. Made me thirsty feeling.
