I realized that one of the reasons why I love seeing Trina in scenes with Spencer is that we get to see her in all her awesomeness. We get a real visual of her intelligence, her wit, her cunning, her obvious beauty, her savvy, and her ability to take control of a situation, and guide it without being obnoxious or controlling. When She's with her family in contrast (although I love her grounded family) especially Portia I feel like all those great traits get a bit lost. It bothers me because I feel like she talks at Trina and not to her. It comes across as having little faith in the capable, wise young woman she raised. I understand her wanting to protect her daughter after everything she's been through, but she and Taggert, Curtis, and Marshall at times infantalize her. It becomes an issue more so now that she's stuck living with them and not working at the gallery at this time. It sometimes makes her seem younger than she really is.
YESSS!!! Such a good point, this is why I tend to fast forward her scenes with her parents sometimes or just not really pay much attention, and I do, I get irritated. She’s a very wise, young woman, who is more mature than all of them combined, let’s be so real! I hope she gets her own privacy soon.
Porsche does coddle Trina , but Trina will see Porsche in a different light when the truth about her paternity is revealed. I'm still wanting her to be Taggarts' daughter. I the end she will draw closer to Spencer which will not make Porsche happy at all...
Love the points about her family, they do baby her and it’s gotten worse since the revenge porn/trial/hook. Her connection with Spencer is so nice bc she really doesn’t have to hold back at all with him. He doesn’t see her as fragile, even though we know he’s constantly trying to protect her….im assuming we’re gonna get some growth with the Paternity fallout and a possible MOC. Having some distance from Portia might allow her to embrace all those qualities you touched on.
Oh she knows him very well! They’re so in sync with each other! She’s so good at being his Juliet/Bonnie/Etc, whilst keeping him grounded and *allowing* him to make the right choice. She’s not controlling or forceful in any means, just skillful and wise in listening to understand him, rather than to manipulate him. Because she knows he’s a good man, Trina reminds him of his roots- pain and privilege! She’s also a fast thinker, and very successfully made him confront his own true feelings about his father, by intelligently, AND seductively saying he and Jordan needed to talk. On top of that, she said she would give them privacy, cause she wants him to know that she respects him enough to let him make his own decisions with or without her, even if she knows him well! This is exactly why Spencer is soooo turned on. He’s so enamoured by her that he’s left flustered, bricked up, helpless without her, and already missing her presence as she passes him by. I love that from the start he knew she was the ultimate catch and Spencer/NAC makes it known it every interaction and encounter that they have. She’s connected to her inner self. She is very womanly. My goodness! It’s so hard to see portrayals of *dark skinned* women as powerful, yet very feminine.
