Just some commentary, the story isn’t necessarily antagonistic towards Godot, but it is through him we hear a reference of nietzsche, about several concepts, one being the last man, and another being the camel, which are not necessarily different things per se but different attributes and in some cases stages of the human condition
Basically if you know anything about nietzsche and since miura seems to have been heavily influenced by him, godot is there in the story to be a cautionary tale for guts, to strive for something greater
See the main contrast in the story at that point was guts and Griffith, the thing everyone seems to believe makes Griffith different from other men is his dream, his conviction, Griffith would not be the godlike perfect being he is without a dream to fuel his perfection
And at the same time, guts just beat Griffith in a duel and left, so he surpassed him, but he still feels inferior to him, because he doesn’t have a dream, and so at one point he thinks maybe he should be like godot, who just sees sparks and loses himself in the moment, like the camel, the mindless existence of humans who never stop to question why they do what they do, they just do it, because they always done it, because their parents and society told them that’s what they do, and that’s it
So when he dies, he realizes that even though his life is beautiful, and his legacy was gorgeous, beautifully illustrated by miura, in a love letter to the human condition when he shows guts thinking about the sparks of swords clashing
His central purpose in the plot is to push guts to be more, to become the lion, the beast that is powerful, not only strong, to start to find his own meaning and not lose himself to just the shiny sparks, to self actualize

Lmao 🤣 it makes hodo sound clueless, like he doesn’t even know what he is doing. But it takes skill to forge a sword 🤷

That thing was too big to be called a sword.Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of iron
