- Recently I bought the Peak Design Slide camera strap to replace my BlackRapid Sport Breathe. I've been using this strap on a few weddings and decided to make a little review for ya'll.

Just as a heads up: I’m still using this strap 3 years later, and it’s still going strong! And I use it professionally every week.
I've just published an update video where I show the condition after 3,5 years. :) ruclips.net/video/cFB7vdinJ7A/видео.html
You are the most helpful reviewer I've seen so far! Thank you!
Thanks so much!
Great honest review! Keep up the good job! I found it useful and I'm ordering the strap right now :)
Thank you for explaining the grip! I could not comprehend why they put it on the outside of the strap.
This is such a great review covering real world issues with straps and plates. Thank you for pointing out that getting an arca swiss plate with the strap slots on it makes all the difference in making the 'system' work!
Great review! The tip about moving the second mounting point to the bottom is a huge help to me. I must have the never version though because they seem to have heard your critique about the rubberized area on the shoulder and moved it to the opposite side so that you can reverse it when it's on just one shoulder and have the rubber up when you use it in sling mode.
Glad it was helpful!
I attach the left connector of my PD to the left eyelet of the camera and the right connector to the bottom bracket. This way the camera sits still on my back and the right strap is out of the way in both landscape and portrait mode.
Paul Lehmor I do the same, I’m in love with the strap
Good tip!
Good review! I needed a new strap since I bought my camera.
Thanks I was wondering how I attached the plate thing and use my Benro tripod I need the other plate.
Thanks for the insightful review. The details on attachment points plus drawbacks with a coat are great info. Thanks again.
That’s great to hear. Thanks for the comment!
In that case the grip of the camera he uses will face the ground and that i think is not an ideal situation.
Great review. I had been using the black rapid, and like you had issues with it on my hip. I have ordered the peak design lite, but will add the arca base plate you mentioned.
Good to hear! I’ve been using the peakdesign slide the last season and it’s still going strong! :)
I also switched from Black Rapid - also because my L-bracket doesn't have a QD connector and it was a pain to use it with a tripod. To avoid the portrait problem you can also connect to the top mount on the left (opposite side to shutter release) and then the right-side at the bottom and it feels very much like the Black Rapid then (but without the constant twisting, hitting hip). Awesome review 👍
Excellent review with pertinent tips and info. Thanks.
Great to hear, thanks!
Thanks for pointing out a lot of things I didn’t think about.
Thank you for posting this. Helped me make my decision.
Cool, you're welcome!
Very honest review. I have it and you need to work around of it.
Great review. Thanks.
Thanks for the comment, appreciate it!
do you think the Slide Lite V2 can support a 5D body??the normal Slide is too wide🤣🤣
Awesome video man!!
Thanks! 😁
Great review, simple, clear and very informative.., and I have just ordered strap. Thanks and keep up the good work!
A bit late, but.. I hope you're still enjoying the strap :)
It looks great.
I have the eos m50 and a sigma 100-400mm.
When i make a big walk in the wood, gives me problems with the standard strap.
I think to order the peak design strap.
I have now some times problems with mij schoulder.
Greets Anton
Thanks. 👍
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have the black rapid and I love it. But I still like having other options.
Yep! The Peak Design strap is still going strong btw. :)
I really do appreciate a good review.
Thanks for the compliment :)
Honestly I love this strap. I’ve gone from not wanting to take my camera out to taking it EVERYWHERE!
I have a small Mirrorless camera and I can wear it for hours without realising.
I agree! I’m still using it every week, and it’s still going strong!
Great idea. With both straps attached to the lower plate. The strap works over the left or right shoulder. I am going to get one.
Glad it was helpful! Did you end up buying one?
@@monetmine Yes. I like it. I like how it gives me more options of where to connect.
My BR doesn't flop my camera around much with the two sliders they have. You keep the backside one at a point and gravity keeps mine pretty much on my hip.
Try the Joby sling strap, love mine.
Good tip!
Is your silicon grip on the outside or inside of the strap. So when I put it on the silicon grip on the outside on the same sides as the slide / lock mechanism to adjust. Is mine defective?
No I have that too
Hey! Thanks for the great review. Could please clarify, what is the model of the arca-swiss plate you are using with it? Thanks.
Thank you! It’s called the Peak Design standard plate www.peakdesign.com/products/standard-plate-v3
@@monetmine, thanks! 👍
You have the straps connected incorrectly. Put one strap on the opposite side to the handle and the other on the base plate.
@Proton1 it looks like he put both of them at the bottom plate
Yes I have tried both. But the method that works best is both on the base plate. For me anyway :)
Good review
Regarding your jacket scenario, Just flip to the other side of the strap to avoid the grip. It's recommended in PD official videos.
Yes but then it grips on my shirt doesn’t it?
Aaaaaaaah you solved an issue I had with the strap. I used it the same way they do on the site and I had the same issue as you. But also for me it turned the camera in a way so that one corner of the camera dug into my back. Never thought to use it the way you do, both anchors on the bottom. Works perfect now. No issues. Thanks for video.
Good to hear haha! Have been using this strap the whole wedding season and it’s still going strong! And I’m not even playing with he anchors anymore :p
Ik ga er ook een bestellen ..
Heb een eosm50 met een sigma 100-400mm...en als je een tijd onderweg bent voel ik dat, schouder en zo....
Hi, very good review!
I'm just deciding which strap to choose, SLIDE will be wide for me and SLIDE LITE narrow again :( Can you advise me on the long-term experience and comfortable wearing on the shoulder, which pays off more? :)
Hi, I only have experience with the normal slide. It is very comfortable on the shoulder!
@@monetmine great thank you. I will probably have a wider version of "slides"
I have the Peak Design Slide Lite and because I'm short I need to shorten the strap on both sides... when I do this it creates a big loop in the strap because the material is so thick it won't lie flat. It means I sometimes end up getting my hand caught in it. Anyone else have this issue?
Mine lies perfectly flat, but I’m not quite sure I get what you’re meaning. Are the straps twisted in any way?
what is that jacket?
It’s a leather jacket by antony morato. Bought it in an outlet, so dunno if they still make it.
But what if you have to use an external flash , there's no video that mentioned that.
? It can still be on top of the camera?
The reason why the strap has grip ion one side is so the camera won't swing around when your walking. flip it when you're taking pictures and flip it back when your walking. Very smart of Peak Design to think of this!
Yes I know the reason! But I must say I never use the grippy side, since I always wear it sideways
Do you have the 1.3" strap or the 1.8" strap?
The 1.8 i think
Mon et Mine I ordered that ineZ
I liked the information a lot. Close-ups were excellent. My only problem was the music was very monotonous and only detracted.
Thanks for the constructive feedback! 👍
👍
ordered2 of these on sale :)
Ohhh nice!
Slide VS Slide LITE Features,, WHATS The Difference??
Slide lite is a little more narrow. :) that’s the main difference
Peak design’s capture can solve your camera moving around problem when wearing the slide
I’m already using a spider belt for my other cam. But thanks for the suggestion!
Nice audio in your videos. What's your mics setup?
I'm using a Sennheiser AVX-MKE 2 wireless lav. It's a bit overkill for RUclips video's perhaps.. But I got it secondhand at a reasonable price :) Rode has a more budget-friendly setup. But the sennheiser is really well built and will last quite a few years I think! I'm not a film-maker, but I know that people often spend too much money on camera's and not on audio, so that's why I wanted to invest in a good set-up.
I used a shotgun mic for a few video's, but didn't really like the audio quality. The only time the audio would be OK is if I'd put the cam/mic really close. But with a lav mic you have a bit more freedom with your shots in terms of where you are. For example in this video: ruclips.net/video/51CUNEtxvu0/видео.html I could walk from really far and still have good audio. :)
Yout 1st set up for placing anchor is wrong. Iy should be on bottom and left side not right side. That's why you get trouble when shoot vertical
Thank you for the tip, but I’ve tried all configurations :) the setup with 2 on the bottom is still most comfortable for me (I’ve used it a lot since this review)
You swing a lot more with the blackrappid, and the camera's position is lower than with the Peak. The strap is longer with the blackrappid ;-)
Yea I know, I know.. it might not be the best test. ;) Still happy with my decision to switch over though. I like to be able to make is shorter and longer in an instance.
So I see reviews of this thing melting in light use within a month of shooting while in the sun
Ehm.. I’ve been using this heavily the past two years, with weddings in the blazing sun as well. It’s still as good as new.
@@monetmine thanks Im 50/50 about it because of reviews I don't want the rubber melting
Do you live somewhere where it’s always super hot? If not I wouldn’t worry about it. And even so I actually wouldn’t mind the rubber melting off, like I said in the review it’s the one downside of this strap.
Ofcourse I can only speak from my own experiences, but I don’t regret buying this strap one bit. Only thing that might need replacing in a few years are the small loops where you attach your camera. But that can be expected of any strap.
@@monetmine ya I do lol thanks for the reply though. I might just go with a cheaper version for now.
The damn and biggest problem is the upper part of the strap that lies on your shoulder falling off each time you pick up your camera to shoot. So friggin annoying. Peak and BlackRapid has the same problem.
Sounds like you keep your strap too long and need to shorten it a bit, I haven’t had that problem
You have it attached the wrong way
The beauty of this system that you can figure out the best way for you to attach the strap. This works best for me (I've been shooting full-time and long hours with this set-up now)
