Brent is a big lovable teddy bear. Tons of knowledge but has a very patient heart. Your very lucky young woman who really needs to appreciate the time your spending with a great man. Take care and I believe you have a wonderful job.- rick
Definitely an end of an era. I supervised a camel milking parlour a few years ago. I am now retired and can't think how we had the drainage system running. It wasn't this way....Iove watching the detail you show ...A. from Hampshire.
Good morning! Little trick to removing those inflation and pulsation hoses is to push them on bit farther to release them, then they will pull right off.
We had a pretty reliable gutter cleaning system on our farm growing up. We backed the tractor and manure spreader down between the gutters and my brother and I each cleaned one side.
We had the same problem you guys have back in the day. It was hard to come by a good used chain and head. After a whole year of hand shoveling it out of the hole, we said he'll with with and filled the whole thing with concrete and just used the skid steer to scrape the barn every day. Worked wonders.
Good morning Taylor. When you work on a farm long enough it’s easy to get attached to your cows, tractors, equipment , and even a barn cleaner chain. You and Brent have nursed that chain for so long and you knew that one day it would need to be replaced. Hopefully that new chain will last much longer. Thanks again for another informative video. Even this old farmer learns something new every time I watch. The sun will eventually get here and the weather will clear but seeing you smile sure can brighten up a day. 🚜🌞😉
Good morning, I agree everything is relied upon so much you can’t help but get attached to it!😊 I’m so very glad you enjoy watching, it means a great deal to me when I get to read your kind comments! Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day 🙂
Hi Taylor thanks for another great video. The trials and tribulations of being a farmer, these are the break downs that cost a fortune to fix and eat into the profits. Don't forget the coffee hint hint 😅 priceless. Thanks again for sharing take care and stay safe 👍 😊.
Good morning Taylor, I love your videos and I miss milking cows especially the 70 cows through a 28 hand lock stantion barn and clean the gutter by hand with a fork and shovel. Keep up the great work on these videos
Great to see you getting a lot more views Taylor your a hard worker and deserve it .I would like everyone who doesn't work on a farm spend 2 weeks on a farm just to see how hard it can be at times .
Hi Taylor. Just wanted to throw the offer out. I live in NY right by Lake Champlain. If you and Brent need a hand getting your new to you barn cleaner chain just let me know. Best of Luck. - Marty
@@davidu01 It reminded me that I no longer have to pull teats for a living. Better opportunities to make a better living without being tied to a bunch of bovines.
Rubber hoses and the inflations if they do not want to slide off, push it on a little, they often break loose and come off much easier. Get a cut off saw for trimming the paddles it will be easier and you can set up a jig to get the right size every time. If I wasn't 20 plus hours away it would be fun to pick up the chain and help some, feel like I was farming again. Maybe you can get who ever is getting the chain to give you some video of the drive. Stay safe and healthy Tay.
Glad that Brent was able to find all the chain drive and chajn. Big job changing it all out and making it fit. God bless and I will say a prayer for you both.
Thank you for a great video.i hope the new chain gives you and brent many years of good service.I hope the snow is done for this year.Take care and stay safe
Thank you for your awesome content, I totally appreciate the time it took you and the hours of getting that content just right! Being a content creator is super cool. It's like getting paid to be creative and share stuff you love with the world. Plus, you get to use all sorts of fun skills, like filming epic videos or making killer social media posts. Of course, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Coming up with fresh ideas all the time can be tough, and it takes work to build a following. Keep Up the Awesome Job....
That's a Patz barn cleaner -- I may have made some of the parts for it. Long lasting for sure. You may be able to use some or all of the flites (sized for your gutter) with the new chain or have the longer ones cut down by a machine shop in your area. Is the one you are buying another Patz product?? If it is, it will last a long time. Good luck with your project.
Woop Woop... upcoming road trip!! That's a bummer about the barn cleaner chain, however on the bright side, once it's replaced it should be break down free for quite a while!! I hope that the winter weather is done for all of us for a while!! Stay safe & warm and try to stay dry!!
Its going to be a hassle, to get your barn cleaner running again. But you're going to be so happy when it's up and running. No more derailed chain or sprocket problems. Happy daze are a head😀 Thanks for the video
Hi Taylor, always enjoy your farming experiences. Glad that you found a replacement for your worn out barn cleaner. Have a safe roed trip and a nice week ahead! ⛽🛻🌎☕🍩
That stinks about the barn cleaner chain. I’ve been there and done that but hopefully the new/used one last forever and you get it in soon. Keep my fingers crossed for you, sweetie.🤞🏻🙏🏻🤗
Taylor, one reason I watch and share your videos is because your a smaller operation. I enjoyed farming before the military partially because I loved to work hard. 50 plus years later you’re bringing back great memories.😊
Hi, first of all thank you so very much for your service to our country! And also for your kindness and support watching our videos 🙂. I know exactly how you feel, hard work is one of the main reasons I love farming too. Something very satisfying in that tired feeling at the end of the day, that let’s you know you’ve accomplished something. So glad this brought you back good memories! Thanks again 😊
Never good when that chain isn’t working. Sounds like a fun road trip going to get the new one. Be safe. Great job on the video. Hopefully starts drying up soon and we can get some tractor action. Have a good week.
No chance you could replace the machine given its repeated breakdowns as you mentioned. Going after a used chain suggests probably not. How unfortunate. GOOD LUCK
Hi Brent and Taylor, as you said Taylor: the old barn cleaner has served the barn well over the years and there is no waste of value. Happy to hear you found a replacement chain and head to replace the old cleaner. At least if such a thing best time year for a total break down, this most likely was the season for it to go out. If you need any help going to get the new units or help with it installation?, let me known. Regards, Bob
A great video. Shows all the work that needs to be done. Farming is a very rewarding life if you like it. l hope you make a video of replacing the chain. Would be great seeing the hard work involved in replacing that chain. Hop it works out for you. Good luck and God Bless.
Thank you for another amazing video, sorry about all the struggles you are having with the chain, but it is great news that you have found a replacement!!! I hope when you go on the long trip to pick up the chain you go well prepared with at least 2 dozen doughnuts!!!!!lol!!!
You're a great team, you'll get it right again. Watch your back while you're doing all that hard work! you already have a slight hunched back. is just advice
Thanks Tay. Another great video. Wouldn't have minded seeing you drag that chain out. Of course you would probably want have the sound down! 🤠 Sorry it gave out on you. Good luck getting the new chain up and running.
An exhausting job. Every tie stall barn has this issue eventually but it is an expensive fix. Good luck to you both. It would be nice if you could line up some help to change the unit and chain.
You are exactly right, every method of farming has its own unique set of problems and our day is finally here! We’re working on getting a crew together to help install everything when we get back with it. Hopefully we can get it up and running soon!! Thanks so much for watching 🙂
O I feel your pain! I've shoved out our gutters a few time, not a fun job! When the barn cleaner and pump works you kinda take it for granted when it works!
We all knew it was inevitable you were going to have to replace the chain, and it may be a pain but once it's all done it will be all worth it, hopefully maintenance-free for many many years!
Hey, Taylor Gary from North caroli'm up love watching your videos. I wish you could put about 3 a week on if you had the time. I love watching what you all do. Even the trip if you put it
I used to always cut the inflations in half to take them off, was a little faster, and I wouldnt mix them up withnew ones lol. Videos awesome as always!
I also replaced all of those little black pulsator tubes with the double tubed clear tubing that we had to go from the pulsators to the machines. Id split it in half, it was way cheaper, lasted a lot longer, and is more rigid
Kind of a coincidence on barn cleaner chain for us to as ours broke a link yesterday so we are switching out old chain for some good used and some new chain that is on a pallet today,we knew it was wore so we made sure we had chain ready
Hi Taylor, we have about 65/70 milkers through a 6x6 westfalia abreast, our liners are 2 piece ones ,the liner is silcon the short milk tube to the claw is rubber , the liner will last 1year at least, more if you wanted ,they are much kinder on the cows teats than rubber ,about double the price but last more than twice as long . The short rubber tube tho are little better than yours i dont think the quality is good now . Hope you get the chain cleaner sorted , we all enjoy your video's here in the uk.
Those used "inflations" are just "maravillosos" for everything they were not ment for like protection on hydraulic couplings, non slip attachments on tool handels, anti rattle on all metal gates/hinges, adaptors between differnt hoose diameters, etc etc 👍👍
Each to there own , I spent the first 18 years of my life growing up on a dairy farm where we milked 40 head of cows so its not like I have am some idiot that can not identify with your situation . As I might of said before in the long run you would be better of filling in the gutter with concrete and investing the money you spend on a new head and chain in a smaller or newer skid loader . Love having Brent in these videos . He shows up good and is very camara friendly.
Taylor, when we milked here on our farm we would take the liners out of the shells every milking morning and evening and wash them and wash the shells.
Those chains never last long enough. But you have to know from the start that they will eventually need replaced. Like most everything else on a farm. But the money from the scrap chain can help off set the cost of the new to you chain at least
Don't know what your schedule is for the road trip but keep the eclipse totality in mind if you're headed for northern New York or Vermont (you mentioned possible the Lake Champaign area.) Here in New Hampshire, they're talking about crazy amounts of traffic Sunday and Monday with cars pulling off the roads. Can't imagine NY or VT will be any different. Aside from traffic, rooms will be non-existent. Good luck and Godspeed.

Can't wait for the road trip, lots of machinery dealers, auction yard, farms, and everything for sale on the side of the road. It always cures the blues after a catastrophic breakdown.
Damn that sucks with the barn cleaner I prefer tie stall barn but when I work on. A farm with a freestall and parlor and all you had to worry about was the skid steer maintenance but tie stall cows are still better
A road trip sounds like fun. If it really is nine hours that will require some juggling for milking. Does someone have to stay home and miss the fun? I find milking keeps me in a six or seven hour radius of home. I know how you feel about the chain. It was a pain in the butt, but it served you well for so long it seems almost unfair to just scrap it. Have a donut in it's memory. Take care.

Glad you found a " new " chain. Have a safe trip, keep on farming 👍👍🍻🙏
Thank you, we will keep y’all updated!! Thanks so much for watching 😀

Your video is well meaning but truthfully I couldn't get to the end because it brings back past events I don't want to remember.
How did that help?
@@davidu01 It reminded me that I no longer have to pull teats for a living. Better opportunities to make a better living without being tied to a bunch of bovines.
Please when you get ready to cut off those paddles , set up a chop saw & a jig stop at 2 inches , so much easier & quicker than a torch
great idea maybe there is a rental store where you could rent one would leave a much nicer cut
Great video Taylor and Brent

Taylor, use a heat gun or a good hair dryer on the hoses and they will go off and on easier.
Glad that Brent was able to find all the chain drive and chajn. Big job changing it all out and making it fit. God bless and I will say a prayer for you both.
Yes we are grateful to have found them so quickly! Thank you, we certainly appreciate the prayers and support 😀.
Years ago my chain was like yours also. After replacement it worked perfectly again. I feel you pain!!!
One thing that helped me get the small vacuum hose off when we had to change inhalations was to push them on just a little bit then pull them off.
Sorry to hear about the barn cleaner it lasted a long time good luck getting the other one love you guys ❤
It had a good run, thanks so much! We love y’all too!🩷😀

Hi Brett impressive farm operation you and TY work well together keeping the farm in great condition. Could you mention the cost of the new chain
I wonder how many of the barns i drive by that are not in business have lots of parts in them the farm i worked in had a similar system ladt tine i drove by the farm the roof was caving in and lots of bushes griwing by it,such a shame.
I’ve often thought that same thing, it’s always so hard to see farms abandoned. A very different world than it was 50 years ago
We got hit hard here in Vermont,we must have got a foot of heavy wet snow
