This was one of my "bad bucket list" coasters and it did not disappoint. Our group filled up an entire train but one of the restraints wouldn't lock so they moved those people to a different car. But then a different restraint wouldnt lock so they had to shuffle us around like 3 times and everyone was just laughing including the ops. Also I love how you go so slow around that last banked turn that you're practically falling out of the train. Why does this ride exist.
It looks like a beautiful coaster in a beautiful setting. Without having ridden it, I give it a 9 out of 10 for looking ALMOST like a Schwarzkopf Speed Racer. It has the in-line seating and the simplistic track design. All that's missing are the spiral lift, the smoothness, and the lack of restraints. A spiral lift could be done since it uses a tire drive lift system. It also looks like the model the steel mini coaster in RCT is based on. This installation uses a variant of the rocket cars that are themed to Icarus. Some of your other footage shows a variant of the lady bug cars with side-by-side seating. The steel mini coaster had curved lift track pieces allowing the creation of a spiral lift. This ride has so many block brake sections, I was half expecting ElToroRyan to appear and start explaining what a block brake section is. From your description of actually riding this coaster, I'm guessing the entry into the brakes are when the metal pipes would fall?
I think they should either turn off the brakes, but having the cars plow through the final turns would shorten its service life, or modify the trains to get magnetic brakes installed, but that seems like a fantasy. I ride this coaster regularly and can brace thanks to the same method that you use, but I rode it once with a friend on his first visit and his crotch slammed into the lap bar. It would be a blessing if they improved the brakes, turning this coaster into a decent, if slightly boring ride. I also genuinely enjoy its theming.
Despite all of this, the Hornet at Flambards was the best coaster for a couple of hundred miles, and was much loved. Just goes to show it's all relative. 😆
@CanobieCoaster Nope! But they at least put some signs up warning people to beware of the sharp breaking. And obviously a much smaller park, so the ride ops would often advise riders when they boarded ro be aware. Thank you for name checking Flambards, made my day. 😄
Great vid earned a sub. Also, I am a new coaster RUclipsr. Do you have any suggestions for a beginner? Greatly appreciated if you could give me a pointer or two.

It's a dumpster fire as is. Glad you found it funny!
Unrelated but this is easily your funnest video in months. I was dying like 3 different times. Well played 😂😂
Thanks lol

It does have some similarties to a speed racer. It doesn't have the comfort level though.
Wow, four trains. I didn’t expect so much given Flambards only had one.
Does that one have gentler brakes?
@ i never got to ride sadly.
Given your descriptions of this coaster, I think it’s no wonder that Zierer only built two Hornet coasters.
I am not surprised.
Honestly just super fun and unique coaster to me
It's unique for sure.

Altered brakes or better restraints would help mightily.
Aw i love this roller coaster ride video thank you very much your the best RUclipsr god bless to you 🙏💓
Thanks!
You are welcome

Are the brakes better on that one?

The Zierer Hornet reminds me of a Schwarzkopf Speed Racer.
The cars are similar.
So I'm not the only one. Cool!
Anton Schwarzkopf worked for Zierer as a freelance consultant after his company went bankrupt. Maybe this was one of the coasters he worked on.
These coasters with I beam instead of tubular track are brutally rough.
The ride tracks fine to be honest. It's just the brakes that are brutal.
Must be fun for the lil ones
Depends if they hit the bar in between their legs.
@CanobieCoaster eh but anythings better then saw the ride

Make videos you enjoy. That's the most important thing.
Thanks for the advice.
Its weird that this thing is so janky. I feel like most Zierers of the time were pretty good?
It tracks fine minus the brakes.
Looks like a Schwarzkopf? Rides like an Arrow? 😉
The tracking looks so janky tho. IDK I'm gonna be there in the spring so I guess I'll find out myself lol, I appreciate the tips!
Its not even the most painful coaster in the park. Goudrix is definatley worst.
I find Goudurix tolerable and actually like it.
Shut up, you’ve probably never been there and don’t know what you’re talking about.
