My philosophy has always been when you win a championship that should prevent you from complaining about your team for five seasons. If you win another one in that 5-year window, tack on another five, etc. This year will be 10 years since the last Cup so I'll be ready to start complaining after this season. Anything less than winning a round will feel like a disappointment. On paper, this team is a clear playoff team and I'd put as one of the four or five favorites to come out of the West. While the Pacific is stacked and a 3rd or 4th place finish is possible, it's time to take the next step. The 12-14 teams had home ice advantage a total of two times during that three year run.
Western final is probably all the Kings can hope for. It's a good team and should have a shot at a cup, but make the playoffs first. The goaltending of Copley, Rittich and Cam Talbot is terrifying. LA was so good defensively last year they made it in to the playoffs despite the goaltending they got from Jonathan quick and Cal Petersen and with a 30 year old career AHL goaltender carrying them there. They can succeed with less than average goaltending. Hard to imagine this group succeeding in the playoffs. I know there is no cap money but another goalie would be a good idea. Cam Talbot is in trouble. Maybe Rittich can be that average goalie they need. The team is really good and deserves some help in nets. Yeah win a series.
To me, a successful season will have to be better than last season, so over 104 points and getting past the first and possibly second round. The goaltending worries me
If say Kings lose in the Stanley Cup Finals, disappointnted fans will be holding their hands on their head and saying: maybe next year. Kopi and Dewey, your #1 Center and #1 Dman are 1 year older. Both players have slowed and now might slow a bit more. So, PLD, Byfield and Clarke and in to replace them....yeah right. The former two guys are Hall of Famers. You're not going to replace them that easily. The Kings have to win now or else that is it I am afraid. No way either PLD or Byfield will ever be a Kopitar or Clarke will be a Doughty. It's laughable at the mere thought of those guys ever being on par with the heroes of yore.

Couldn't agree more! However I am concerned with how Byfield/Kaliyev will produce.
For the team, I’d think Conference finals. As a fan, just make the playoffs and be competitive and entertaining.
Cool hat, Eddie. Mitchell and Ness needs to do more of those Chevy hats. Fanatics is for the birds!
Latest rumor on kings broadcast is that they may stay on ballys for one more season. Just a rumor.
A successful season for LA this year is winning the Stanley Cup. Enough of this losing in the first round and calling it a success.
Win Win and Win we need lots of goals and defense needs to step up with questions about our goaltending. Please beat the snot out of Edmonton

You are 100% correct. I don't see them pulling a N0 1 center and D man out of there ass anytime soon.
Blah blah i just want to see the kings play on tv and if LA sports entertainment cant make that happen it will b a huge disappointment
