    Demidov is getting punished for not signing an extension with SKA. Hopefully Hughes and Bobrov's visit with some cash will fix things.

    Good assessment as per usual DD! Regarding our future Habs, I would say it looks promising but if you removed Demidov from the conversation, I'm pretty sure the excitement level takes a noticeable dip. Not to disrespect the other prospects, but let's face facts...it seems most are focusing their excitement only on Demidov. Pre-NHL stats are important to gauge progression, but IMO, it means zero if they cannot translate their successes at the NHL level. So I'm a "let's wait and see" kinda guy. As for the current state of our Habs...definitely too early to throw in the towel from watching 6 of 82 games, as teams can suddenly find their mojo and go on a tear so no need to panic. HOWEVER, I, like many fans are discouraged to see the games so far where there seems to be a lack of passion, and too much inconsistent play. There are many factors to explain all of it, but I don't think fans care for the excuses, they just want to see progression, effort and positive results. As much as the responsibility has to be the players on the ice, I put a lot of the blame on MSL...he is the head coach of this team and he needs to be held accountable if the team he puts on the ice is unprepared,...sluggish, not disciplined, lacking effort and passion. Obviously, the loss of Laine hurt, but I am not convinced this team would be playing any better w/Laine in the lineup watching them play...too many incomplete/imprecise/high risk passes, trouble exiting their zone, taking indisciplined penalties, losing battles along the boards, being out shot, and turning over pucks rather than creating turnovers. A quick note...Primeau is a good goalie...still developing, but definitely not helpful when TM goes on one of his media attention seeking rants. I respect all individual opinions but being over the top esp when chastising a player you don't like esp as a professional "media" person is not respectful IMO. I will end by saying that I am convinced this team can and will start competing for meaningful games, it's just a matter if it will be this season, next season, or the season after that. Keep the faith! Go Habs Go!

    I like most of your videos but I don't understand how anyone can say our goaltenders are struggling.
    Sam Montembault has been excellent except for 1 game. He has been one of the best goalies in the league and one of the few bright spots for the team.

    • @DrewDekes
      @DrewDekes  День назад +1

      Montembeault really only “struggled” against Pittsburgh I thought. All of LA’s goals on Thursday were from the point and he couldn’t see 2/3 for sure, then Primeau got shelled for 6 goals vs Boston, then let in 2 early ones in Long Island so, you right…they’re struggling a lot more defensively in their own end, and offensively, other than Cole…so I wasn’t quite accurate saying both goalies are struggling, apologies.

      @@DrewDekes No worries. On a more positive note, Nick Suzuki has been a slow starter for last coIple of years so I expect him to improve. Apologies to Cole but Nick is still Habs leader and best player for last 3 years so the offense goes through him. Suzuki has to drive the bus in Montreal if we want to see the team improve.

      @@MrXanderii just wait… we just started the season. I understand the concern but he made some solid saves when the team couldn’t get a hold of the puck. One of the moments the Habs couldn’t get out close to 5 mins. He was solid for that. Not trying to overrate him, but let give him more of a shot before we judge

    Heineman reminds me of John LeClair. If Owen Beck can win face-offs then he needs to be in Montreal. I don't know what to do with Arber but sitting him in the press box isn't one of them. I would hate to lose him but Mailloux is too good not to be playing. Arber can get a big return if we did move him. Marty scratched him despite the fact Ghule was out. Revealing...

    Dach is coming back from a major injury. It's going to take some time. This team will be much more exciting next year when we have the likes of demidov and a healthy Laine.
    Armia and Dvorak And Savard and Matheson an Barron and even Primeau need to go. They are not part of the future

    Montreal is rebuilding the whole franchise, the drafting, developing, 3 teams, the whole Franchise. In time, all you weenie whiners 'might' get it, so here's the skinny to encourage you to watch closely. This hasn't been done before in Montreal, but it will be done by a Premier team with big money, a class of intelligent hockey minds most never see and Mr. Molson's desire to re-establish the Canadiens to their formidable glory. We won't just throw players away, we'll develop the best of them into NHL players. As players come along who are better, they will replace the ones we have. If Barron is replaceable by Mailloux he will be, but Barron will get as good as we can make him and fetch a return. Primeau will be replaced by Dobes, Montembeau will be replaced by Fowler, Dobes will be replaced by the Russian kid who's great, etc, etc, etc. There's a lot of talent in the system and at least 12 picks next year and more. Three more years kids then it's done, watch out. Love the game, appreciate the team, it's the best team overall in hockey, we are blessed. Stop being negative, it smells bad!

    I'm so sick and tired of everyone blowing smoke about Barron ! He's consistently BAD. That one goal last night he was the fourth Hab getting back to our zone. FOURTH ! And Arber gets benched for being irresponsible? They say if Barron goes in waivers we'll lose him. Perfect ! Put him on waivers then ! Lots of bright spots last night despite the loss but lots to improve if we aren't going to be hanging around the bottom again.

    Everything this team will do this year will still not get them in or near the playoffs. Relax people, this team is too young to win games consistently. Just look at the season so far. They luck out and beat tougher teams but lose badly to middle of the pack teams. Pitt beat them with a team of older players...what does that tell you? Woulda, coulda, shoulda fills RUclips all over the place but it means nothing. Right now Habs are pretenders not contenders, they have a ways to go in the rebuild...be patient.

      Xhekaj has the most powerful shot of them all by a few dozen miles per hour, Montreal overdrafted defensemen clearly our talent is there.
