I was fortunate enough to see Elvis perform live at the National Theatre on Feb 6, 1956. He did four shows that day. Elvis opened the show doing Mystery Train and I loved Scotty's guitar sound on that song. I watched Scotty more than I did Elvis. After that show I new I wanted to learn guitar and play all of the Sun recording's. I was 13 years old by the time I was 15 I had learned most of Elvis's Sun recording's. Thank you Scotty Moore for inspiring me to play guitar. RIP my friend!
I think a lot of us are playing guitar because of Scotty Moore without even realizing it. All the great bands we respect owe something to this rock pioneer.
Scotty Moore's solo is epic on this song.. It's actually quite sophisticated, borrowing bebop jazz lines mixing them with blues-rock riffs.. Certainly one of the first true guitar hero without shredding with distortion..
SCOTT, WAS A Friend OF MINE FOR 30 PLUS YEARS MY SISTER WAS. HIS EXECUTIVE BUSINESS ASST. FOR 30 PLUS YEARS I SAT WITH HIM AT HIS HOME THE LAST WEEK BEFORE HE PASSED . MY SISTER PASSED AWAY THE YEAR BEFORE, & MY NIECE TOOK OF HIM. HIS LAST 2 YEARS. SCOTT WAS ONE OF THE NICEST EASY GOING FRIEND THAT I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE. HE PROBABLY PLAYED " MYSTERY TRAIN FOR ME
His Guitar changed my life as a young kid. Not long after hearing him, I took-up playing guitar. 40 years later and several national tours later he’s still an inspiration too me.
His guitar changed the world. Presley's records were the Jimi Hendrix's of the fifties, not all of course just the thrashing guitar ones. In reality, you are looking at the original Hendrix, Paige, Townsend, Harrison, Richards, etc...
I’m an 80 year old man who learned to play Like Scotty Moore the greatest Rock a billy guitar player on the globe. When I heard him I bought a Old beat up guitar for $10. In 3 years I could just like him even to this day.
In the second solo, at the intro is even more genial the are a couple notes more on the slides chords which sound even more killers, their are 4 notes chords diminish or augmented i don't remember now, but i used to play its an inusual harmony, and woo!! really killer intro seems to break something in this slides, all the solos are top class but the second intro is genial
It's just so hard to listen to. Old folks when they tell a story they bring up details and search for dates that are nice to know, but draw a story out soooooo long! I still sit and listen though!
steven van rensburg what is there to question with my comment. The dude said "Pretty much the most accurate Hound Dog on RUclips" and I said well I would hope so since he played on the song
I repeat my comment. After the Scotty Moore talking section, which is pretty much the same on all Songmaster videos. Toward the end of the video, the guy goes through the song on guitar in detail. His solos are the best and most accurate that I've seen on You Tube. The second solo most guitarists don't touch.
The start of the second solo is totally wrong on this tutorial. In timing, structure and chords. And the band performing Hound Dog need dealing with as Elvis did to Old Shep. Raymondo

Always enjoyed listening to Mr Moore and also listening to his stories. He is dearly missed.
This man is a legend, and influenced scores of guitarists beyond his ken.

R.I.P Scotty Moore A big part of the reason why Elvis is so famous
Hound Dog Lesson starts at 33:55
Great video - watch the rest too.
Nah I dont feel like it
Can we get some more likes on this ?
Thank you.
The Man and the song that started me on the long guitar playing road. Thank you, Scotty. RIP.

Had the opportunity to meet and thank him some years back shortly before he stopped playing.

That is such a beautiful Gibson wow!! What a legend!
I finally have my Scotty Moore -The Guitar That Changed The World - album. More Moore!!
That Is one of the Nicest Gibson’s I Have ever seen in my Life!
One of my favorite guitarist rip Scotty Moore
Genius solo - and great lesson!
Classic of the classics
I'm more inclined to believe Scottys version of events than Sam Phillips who always puts himself there as the man who discovered everything
We declare ourselves "Switzerland" on taking sides. But Scotty was a humble guy.
I agree and I think the way Sam Phillips treated Billy Lee Riley was awful
Great interview and lesson. Exactly like the record.

Quite clever solo, it seems more unique too.
Is the first part when you fret 3rd and 6th part muted¿ I know he uses tape delay.

This video is worth $1 million

Its mad to me that Scotty ever existed. His guitar playing seemed otherwordly
Good part starts at 47:31
gehbw I came to learn the solo! Thanks!

Pretty much the most accurate Hound Dog on You Tube!
Gene B Well I would hope so
Since he played on the song
Metalhead Lazz???
steven van rensburg what is there to question with my comment.
The dude said "Pretty much the most accurate Hound Dog on RUclips" and I said well I would hope so since he played on the song
Metalhead Lazz I was??? because you said he played on the song, so he should know. Which version do you mean, the song on this video is a cover.

Barney Rubble can play that guitar pretty dam good!!!
What guitar does scot have in the vid
I believe the truss cover says "Chet Atkins" and the pick guard says "Scotty Moore". Do I need new glasses or what?
which Gretsch model is Scottys guitar
Daniel Scroggins he plays a gibson and a 6120 I think
a god strumming his guitar
play it on an electric, ok?
remove the subtitle out so that i can see how he play the solo
In what world do you think 1 hour is the right length for a guitar tutorial??????
It’s a history lesson and guitar lesson. If you can’t appreciate both, you’re not ready.
The start of the second solo is totally wrong on this tutorial. In timing, structure and chords. And the band performing Hound Dog need dealing with as Elvis did to Old Shep. Raymondo
Scotty was great Elvis was very limited in his guitar skills that's why you never see him plugged in. It was mostly for decoration
A storyteller he ain’t.
