Amy..I have always enjoyed watching your orchid videos. Living in two climates now I gave up my orchid hobby for awhile but since I missed them so much I now have about six, lol. Found someone to care for them when I’m gone. 😊

Nothing makes an orchid grower happier than seeing blooms, new leaves and puedobulbs and spikes and canes and root growth! Yes, it's that signal that you're doing something right! 🤗💕
@OrchidWhisperer Thank you I am Amy! Was interested to hear you talk of your Draecena. I have 3, and my original was in an east facing window. When I moved it to a Western Exposure boy was it so much happier. They are marketed as low light plants for dark corners but in reality they live their best life in bright indirect light. Who knew?
@@mollys1584 my niece has a dracena in western facing atrium windows...in South Carolina! It gets a lot of sun and it's huge. Mine grow lanky and spindly in low light...they definitely are bright light plants! 🌴🌴😇

You certainly are blessed because your plants are just so amazing and healthy looking, would love to know suggestions for caring for your orchids and how you tackle certain issues with your orchids, obviously I don't have the climate that you do in the USA as I live in the UK Somerset, I get full south facing sun on windowsills and find it burns my orchid leaves, the problem is I don't have windows that don't get direct sunlight, literally the only place I can think of placing orchids is on the bathroom window which has opaque glass but has mirror and toiletries and a mirror so much space. Sorry for long reply , love your videos and God bless you too.
@@marycamilleri447 hi and thanks so much for your sweet comment! I use sheer curtains on my windows that are southern facing. You can even use sheets of tissue paper on your windows to disperse the light. Happy 🌸 growing! 😇💐
I love watching your videos they’re so relaxing to me and your plants are gorgeous. I’m always amazed by the sheer of some of them. I just picked up a small Phal. Tzu Chiang Sapphire myself. I’m curious if you cut the spent spikes once they drop the blooms or if you just keep them?
Thanks for your sweet comment! :) I love my Tzu Chiang Sapphire...it's such an awesome little Phal. I do cut the spikes after the blooms drop. It's not a sequential bloomer, and this one blooms a lot...I believe it has the capacity to burn itself out if I don't cut the bloom spikes back. Happy growing! :)
@@jennshi99 it varies from week to week. It's been very hot this summer, and it's taken more time than usual. And the days I soak Phals in bark take longer than watering other orchids growing in moss. I'm usually not away long enough for leaving them to be an issue. But when I'm gone for more than a week I have a friend who's kind enough to water them for me. 😇🌸💐
Beautiful. I do have one question...do the small (mini) tiny orchids that you can get in grocery stores not last as long as the more normal size? I had one that lasted pretty good and then just died. Thanks so much for sharing your advice and showing all of your plants.❤
Hi Trudie! The mini orchids require slightly different care than the large ones do. The number one killer of mini phals is overwatering them. It happened to me when I first started growing them, and I finally figured out that I was watering them too much. Now I watch the roots, and don't water until they turn silver. Happy growing! :)
