Does this little house tug at my heart? Not as such. Buuuut... I could 100% picture my parents happily tucked in here while I tackle the school master's cottage next door!
Just came across this video. The look at the school from the outside buts shivers, fear, bad ,so bad memories, our hair being pulled, a closed fist to the head, the back.the stick to our legs, ten years I did, great children to survive those schools and times back then. My father stood up for me, he was before his time, it did help,he told the teacher to stop beating us, he was lucky not to have gone to jail for speaking up.
Maggie grateful you showed us this property. Let’s see what the auction gets. But for 2 beds, 2 bath, solid school house that has been rehabbed it’s quite good in my opinion. I wonder what is causing the damp/paint to flake off the walls at the entrance main door area. Many thanks for this.
I am desperately trying to sell my share of the family farm to move to the west coast of Ireland. Anything to get out of Australia with its heat, drought, floods, bushfires and every poisonous snake possible.I will keep dreaming, may even try praying, apparently miracles happen. This would do me just fine.
Love the house! I want to leave the USA for Ireland! My family tree has my roots solid in Ireland. I am planning a trip to the embassy here to find out about a VISA to find a home for me!
That house is nt megga exciting, but its on a nice plot & has potential... You could move straight in... I quite like the Fireplace, get a good fire lit. Curtains... Its cheap & being near a road is a plus... Thanks for the fab Video🤗
I love this little house. Where is it?? I would wall the kitchen from the entry, plenty big enough for functional kitchen when you gain that wall. Split large room like an Italian soggiorno with a dining table and living room furniture and close one entry from hall. Break down wall between two small rooms, make a nice bedroom, rehab the bath and close off extra bedroom & bath so not heated or rehab if needed. All inexpensive updates, mostly dyi except good heat and a/c.
Wellll, this was done Dec. 29 & her definition of coming up for auction -soon- could have been a week or two. I don't know if Ireland auctions houses ike they do here but it happens at the courthouse steps downtown & it's over in a few hours.
You mentioned the outside space as not very big, but it looked like at least half an acre if not an acre from the little we could see in the video. Do you have any details on that?
Modernisation isn't necessarily a bad thing per se. If it's done well, it can highlight & enhance the original features. This is a functional but entirely bland refurb however, with a boxy extension and pine, laminate flooring and electric storage heaters leaving it all feeling drab. Thank God the sash windows survived the purge.
@@rhymeocerous I agree. I think the problem lies in people (mainly builders) forgetting that buildings can be modernised sympathetically. They go for the cheapest materials a fast turnaround. There’s nothing wrong with that either, if it’s an 80s build.
@@angelabyrne154 imo shouldn't be allowed. Whilst I don't think everything old should be listed, I do think they should have a few rules to protect them and their characters from mindless destruction
The only thing I’d really change here is that fireplace! Good grief it needs to be taken out the back and putting out of its misery to be replaced with a more traditional fireplace .
Go ahead complain. When people are refitting refurbishing their old homes. They're often ripping out the soul, the character, the charm, the history. They don't realize that what they're doing is following fashion. Something that was built 200 ,300 years ago has style, fashion is temporary. It is an art to have all today's commodities presented in style, good taste, definitely worth the time. You have a lot to complain about my good lady. The destruction that is going on right now is heartbreaking. The bones of most of these buildings are going to outlast anything done in 2022. The techniques were developed over centuries tried and proven. I'm saying" Alleluia"throughout your videos.
Looks like it might originally have been one big (or maybe two) room plus porch. If so I think I'd tear down those walls forming the corridors/rooms and start again, attempting to bring back some character

I thought of the sally rod as well going in the gate 😢
if I could move there, this is perfect for my family
I love your videos. They're like a ray of hope in Ireland's housing nightmare.
I agree with you there is no old world character.
What a positive encouragement for the youth to salvage those precious homes
Brilliant video, thanks Maggie, I just love your enthusiasm 👌🏻.
Your joy is infectious!
It would have been lovely to see the garden and the view, you talked about.
I adore your sheer delight at these wonderful places you show us. I have the same love for old places. I am so happy to have discovered your channel.
Me too!
Really beautiful 💝💜💙🧡💚
Thank you so much for showing us this house, really appreciate it,

This sold two weeks ago for €170.
€170? Bargain.
Or $170,000 much more like what I’d expect.
Looking forward to the next house 🙏 hopefully with at least an acre, under 60,000

Ireland is expensive...
@@danwebb4418 I have not found it so and I am a UK pensioner here for over 20 years. I think you need to qualify that statement!
East coast Aussie also dreaming of a little plot in Ireland...anyone wanna swap?

I prefer the house next door. This one, to me, means a lot of work to rip out and try to replace the character. It hurts my heart.
Yes exactly
Just been searching for the listing. Now showing sale agreed. That was snapped up fast!

I WANNA MOVE TO IRELAND
€130k for two bedrooms and 0.3ac , is it in Leinster ? It seems like a lot to ask for what you are showing us.
Outside Cahir in South Tipperary. I guess the fact work has been done to it has raised the price, but yeah a bit steep.
You mentioned the outside space as not very big, but it looked like at least half an acre if not an acre from the little we could see in the video. Do you have any details on that?
I love your videos, would you have any that would have a house either with 60 foot boat moorage or close to a marina.
Whats the deal with the sash windows? I appreciate they're traditional but no insulation right?
I hate when people get beautiful old houses and try modernize it
Agree, it’s my absolute pet peeve. If you want a modern house, just build or buy one! Don’t mess up the old homes as they are irreplaceable.

@@rhymeocerous those windows look fairly new (the routing is a bit of a giveaway - compare the ones in the schoolmaster's cottage)

Is it sold already?

It is a bit unfortunate alright 😂
