I love your videos! This one is special to my heart! I lost my hubby of 43 years completely unexpected. We have 8 grandkids and I’ve been wanting to use his jeans and shirts to make memory items for them so this video is an answered prayer!!! If you have any other ideas to make with the legs please let me know! Thank you so much for sharing this video!!!!
Hi Kim, I am sorry for your loss. What a wonderful gift idea for your grandkids. Someone in the comments mentioned a cross-body cell phone case out of the pant legs. The hem would be the top of the bag. I will kick it around and see what I come up with. Sending prayers and hugs your way, Julia
I totally understand your story…mine is the same. My dad passed when I was almost 9 years old. My mom ironed clothes to bring in money for her and 3 kids, so I cooked, cleaned and grew up much faster than other girls, but don’t regret it a bit….like you. 🌺🌻😍 Made us who we are! Strong, capable women!
🧵 Hello Julia - first time I have watched one of your videos. I was drawn to it because I have a dear friend with the same name - she is also a very talented lady and great crafter. I have been sewing for 60 years and up-cycling denim and other fabrics for the last few years. I don’t have your artistic talent but just love to watch really creative people at work. I make loads of cross body denim cell phone bags from old jeans to sell for charity. Inspired by you I will try to make some more creative designs. Many thanks for the tutorial- I shall subscribe and watch your others. Best wishes from a Granny in Scotland 🏴 ❤
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. I love your idea for the cross-body cell phone bag. I will have to give one a try- perhaps with the jean legs.
Hi Julia - Such a cute bag! The fringe on the bottom just tired it all together. You always amaze me. Hope you are staying warm. It’s been extremely cold here. Crazy weather. 🥶❄️💙 Wishing you a very Merry Christmas with love, laughter, peace and joy. Hugs sweet friend 🎄❤️
I love what you've made. The Singer sewing machine company trained my Mom free motion embroidery back in the 1950’s when she was a teenager. She became very proficient in it, so Singer hired and encouraged her to officially teach free motion sewing machine embroidery. God Bless My Mom, I miss her soo much. Singer company gave my Mom her first fullilling Job. Back then all young ladies should learn the art of sewing. Thank you for sharing your art, it brings much joy to me to know see, and also brings back lovely heartfelt memories of my Mom.
Your comment warmed my heart. I too started my free-motion journey at the Singer Sewing Co. I worked part-time there during college in the late 70's. At the time, the open-arm feature was a big deal and a fairly new design. We taught how to mend pant legs by inserting the leg under the open arm and then using the "darning foot" to free-motion stitch the patches and mend holes. Wow- I learned so much. Thank you so much for sharing your story.
The zippered pockets are a simple way to gain confidence in zippers. You do not have to use the separating zippers, use a regular nylon zipper to get started. Thanks for watching!

The way I see it. Real or fake if it's a style I like then I like it and will buy it. But to me the luxrul one looks better than the real one. And who's gonna be inspecting ladies purses. If your out there trying to figure out if someone's bag is real who are you the prise police? So If you can get a really nice fake one then why not? Most of us don't have thousands dollars to spend on a real one and wouldn't anyway. No one has to know if it's fake or real. That's nobodies business. Enjoy and wear your bag which ever you have.
Hi Lynda, Thank you so much for bringing the link to my attention. Looks like Amazon is out of stock. Here is the information about the stencil and the companies website. I hope this helps. My mom made quilts with jeans. She even used the big back pockets so someone could use them for the remote, phone, etc.
A wonderful idea
Grocery totes maybe? You could make the bags from the denim then make inside pockets with the shirts. Placemats?
A lovely idea, I'm inspired. My son passed away in May and I will be making memory items too, thank you 🎉r

HI Pam, Merry Christmas to you too! Thank you so much for sticking with me all these years :)
I enjoyed your video especially making the zippered pocket. Clever!
I'm glad you liked the zipper pocket! I just starting making the pockets in batches so I have them ready to go into bags. They're so quick and easy.
I've been sewing for 50 plus years and love that trick with zipper. Am going to try that. Thank u for that tip!
The hanging zipper pockets are so easy to add to denim bags. Hope you give it a try. Julia

Just my opinion the hand moving back-and-forth in such a frenetic way, is very unpleasant to the eye, it literally hurts.
You can always slow the video down 😊
