  • Live cover of this classic trance anthem. The dance piano is a combo of the JD piano (wave 109), EP piano (wave 111) and a Vox sound (wave 57) for the slow pad. For the bridge part, I have set various drum parts to 0 volume and then crank them open with the JDXi front panel volume pod.

    Whoaaa
    How did you get the drum sequences to come in? Everyone else on youtube uses the favorites. But you seem to be doing it a different way.

      @jeroenwijering  Год назад +1

      I am using simply the "next" button under the display. The patterns for a song are saved back to back.

      @@jeroenwijering I just knew there was a better way of doing this! Thank you for sharing this technique!

  •  2 года назад +3

    Wow! I've been learning so much from your videos, how to use the JD-Xi's functionality to build up a song, bringing in individual drum sounds later, using the same program for several "rounds", bringing in tracks and sounds additively. Splitting the keyboard again for two partials! :) I see you organize the parts of a song one program after the other... but then, what do you use the favourites for? :) Wouldn't it be easier to put the parts of a song to favourites, than to organize neatly them in a row of programs, especially if they are not done at the right program number when creating them? Thx.

      Great this is useful! I use the favorites for songs (40+ currently), hence I just use the "next" button within a single song.

    • @jeroenwijering
      @jeroenwijering  2 года назад +1

      Also, I tend to build a song by first creating the main pattern, then copying it for the other parts.

      I believe the MC707 has even more sounds and capabilities, as it is several years newer. No (mini)keys though.

      You're right, that's funny! Hopefully Paul van Dyk now gets a few more dollars for creating this awesome classic.

    Thinking of buying one these. Have you done any post-processing (eg compression/eqing) to these covers? They sound amazing just wondering if this all out of the box?

    • @jeroenwijering
      @jeroenwijering  3 года назад +1

      Hey, yes this is 100% right out of the box into my GoPro camera, and then to RUclips. No processing whatsoever.
      The JDXi has several nice tools to produce good mixes. Every part, including every drum sample, can be panned. There is also a high pass filter in addition to the main one for every part. And finally the reverb and delay are great for glueing things together.
      There is no compression or EQ or other fancy post production. But then again what you hear is 100% what is coming out when playing live.

      @@jeroenwijering Awesome thanks for coming back to it, if there is little mastering done this is a very awesome outcome. Usually when ppl do demos out of the box it comes out cheesy but it makes sense glueing with the reverb/delay and there must be good samples to start with. Anyway again well done mate, love the covers! PS can i be cheeky and request a cover of Darren Tate vs Jono Grant - Let The Light Shine In?? ;) Reckon you can smash on the JD-Xi ;)
