      I keep my key on an lanyard - I don't have a latch like Kate I have a lock you have to put a key in to lock it.

    "The only bad run is the one that didn't happen." - gets me up and out of the door in 99 out of 100 times. It's okay to feel sluggish or run through a downpour. Makes it so much easier to run on those days where the sun is shining and your legs are in top condition.

    The ‘hack’ I’ve started using recently is to have a few different local routes to try and avoid becoming bored running the same routes every week. I actually started to enjoy discovering new routes locally, and even running an old and trusted route backwards can help keep things fresh.

      I do this too its so helpful and even when you return to a route after a while it doesn't feel boring and even can be refreshing.

    I put my running music on while I warm up as motivation so I start getting mentally ready to get out the door. I motivate myself by completing 3 runs a week and I can buy something to help my running, or I save the rewards for better rewards. Last week I bought a rain jacket and sun cap. Next I'm saving my motivation points for more running shorts 🙂 3 runs = £10 for example.

    Top hacks is prepping the gears the night before! When I don’t feel motivated in the mornings, this always get me out the door!
    I also love to run with people that have more running experience than me! It gave me a kick in the bottom to push my limit further and I get extra kudos during the run by my running teammates!
    Absolutely love the format of this video! The Running Channel is honestly my fave 2021 discovery!

    Also my favorite "hack" is to just have a good podcast or a playlist, and a lot of routes, and variations on them, so I never get bored :) though it still doesnt always work, and I still might just take a day off...thats another tip - dont be too hard on yourself, you are not a machine

      I run for chocolate cake when I'm pushing myself to go further in distance it's my favourite and I'm on a diet. I use this especially when I'm struggling to gain a distance but its worked every time so far

    I'm a morning runner, getting up at 0430 is tough. My alarm aka phone is placed across the bedroom on my dresser. It makes me have to get up to turn it off. Since I'm out of bed, might as well continue on the day.

    I wear my Parkrun barcode band as a runner ID. It has my name, a contact number, any medical conditions. Also, my watch shares my location, so my partner knows where I am and how fast I'm moving - so if I'm lucky there's a cuppa waiting for me when I get in.

    On country roads I run facing the traffic except on bends, I'm always on the outside of the bend. I once drove around a sharp left bend and almost wiped out a whole walking group.
    Before lockdown I had to write my running week to my coach. I loved the therapy of explaining my runs and why I didn't follow her instructions (usually going too fast or long!). I miss those days and that fitness, motivation and stamina.

    I bought my first running vest, an Ultimate Direction, on clearance for $65. It's so darn comfortable, I now wear it on all runs over 45 minutes, or any run I have to drive to. Keys, phone, tp, snack, water, a small first aid kit, rain shell, and cap easily fit into the tiny comfy pack, and I forget I'm even wearing it.
    And I'm a huge fan of jeffing, I just didn't know it had a name!

    I always buy running shorts with zip up pockets. That keeps my keys safe wherever I go for a run, even if I’m driving to the running location first and parking up.

      Shorts designers haven't a clue when it comes to non-competitive runners. The best running shorts I have come across have been Primark beach shorts. Key pocket, two front pockets and a Velcro rear pocket ideal for bank cards and a parkrun barcode. You do not want the front pocket while running, but they are great for gloves and other items when you are organising yourself for a training run or a jog to a parkrun. Only problem being is that they can get uncomfortable after 5/6k and they are not that durable for distance running. It's not what they are designed for.

    What helps me a ton, especially if I have an extra long run coming up, is to tell as many people as possible how far I plan to run so I don't have get to back out because they might ask how it went.
    Also listening to Joe Rogan podcasts and Jocko Podcast.

      Whenever I try to listen to podcasts and run, I end up slowing down so I can try to comprehend what they are saying. I'm a big fan of podcasts, listening to Dan Carlin's Hardcore History, Sam Harris, and Very Bad Wizards mostly.

    Run towards traffic unless you have a blind bend coming up which will make it difficult for upcoming cars to see you. It’s worth crossing over for the bend and then back on the right.

    If your legs feel dead and heavy, do some leg swings, high knees, butt kicks and sideways skip (one of those is enough!) mid-run and you should feel a bit fresher after that,

      Yes, I do this. Set the alarm to say “GET UP AND RUN”. Clothes at the end of the bed. Make myself leave the house without over thinking it, once I’m out I’m good.

    Joining a running group is the best way to get into running in my opinion. Also you can save money on clothes by buying non-brand gear in the supermarket or online, and buying last year's model running shoes. Tracking your runs is important as well because you can look back at all your hard work, share your runs and get encouragement from your friends, and over time you can see the improvement. Lastly, runners underwear for men are a very good thing.

    My go to running app is Start To Run. Similar to C25k but a lot slower at first. Also I hide a water bottle around the spot where I will end my run that way my walking cool down can also be a rehydration spot as well. Gives me a reason to actually finish since I then don't have to wait til I get home to drink something.

    Hair plaiting is a great idea. Alas, I am one of those males who have an especially wide parting. So wide I've recently taken to shaving my head. A hack in itself, because it takes a lot less time to run a shaver over your head before running than washing and drying your hair after running. Was thinking of a mahogany varnish. For a bit of tone.

    Love these!! One of my personal hacks that i HAVE to do for every 5k or more run is that I have to really know my route. I take a very familiar route so I don’t even have to think about where I’m going to where I’ll end the run. I have a “brain shelf” that several running routes are one so I can still have variety. And if I’m gonna do a brand new one, I’ll try to walk it first. It really helps me win the mental game 😂

    I have a lot of keys so I safety pin them into my shorts pockets! I also track my runs on a calendar and give me a sticker every time i go out. Have only broken the sticker chain once in 2 months!

    when I moved to my current job we picked a place to live a good run distance from work. Car pool or metro in and the only way to get home is the run. Option #2, stay at work all night. Haven't missed a run yet.

      Maybe look at getting some more cushioned trainers or running socks if you are getting blisters.

    I have a brain injury which I got after suffering from a cardiac arrest. So getting lost when I am trying to run a new route isn definitely a challenge for me. so to overcome this I use map my run to track my running speed and my heart rate. and google maps with the voice directions on . I am still practicing and learning how to follow google maps as it can be a bit confusing at times . because I struggle to see the street signs and the voice direction will tell me to walk east instead of go left or right. But I am still learning and figuring out the best way to use these apps. I am always open for suggestions or comments of things I can try and I would love to hear from anyone with a heart condition or a brain injury to see what they use or do.

    I have self-doubt in all walks of life even more so as a runner. Causation, childhood abuse. Every time I try to teach karate or run a race. I have always been near throwing up or panic attacks on the start line. I often question that wasn't me that did that if I run well. I don't tend to hold to celebratory feelings long after success. It's a crippling feeling what ever I do. I've enjoyed listening to this channel today knowing others have that same crippling self doubt. My favourite hack is journaling my feelings and saying to myself I am a runner.

    My running hack is a wake up alarm system to help me get up. I have to wake up at 4:30 am in order to have any time to run. That hasn’t been easy, but here’s what I do.
    1. I have a central heating/AC that can be scheduled on the Nest App. In the winter I keep it down to 65* F at night (18.33 Celsius). But at 4:00 I have the heat turn on to bring it to 73* (22.7 Celsius). That way it’s nice and warm when I’m getting out of bed. ☺️(It automatically turns back down when I leave for work at 6:30)
    2. I have a sun clock as an alarm. At 4:20 a dim light turns on and continues to get brighter for 10 minutes. 💡
    3. At 4:30, the time I want to get up, my alarm goes off with the sound of either an ocean or chirping birds. 🐦 🕊
    4. At 4:40…BUZZ!!! BUZZ!!! BUZZ!! BUZZ!!! ⏰!!!!

    The shower in your gear to tip wasn't just a joke. I always wear a headband when I run. So I always just hand wash it in my post-run shower and hang it on a coat hook to dry.

    I feel the allowing yourself to quit after a short one, it’s a lot easier to commit to 10 minutes than a morning 10k. I did my first half marathon by committing to an 8km, then kept adding just 1 more km until I realised I was at 20km! Then it was a painful 1.1km to hit the half as I knew I was finishing soon for sure.

    Trim your toenails after a run, not before. That way any sharp edges or tender spots will have calmed down before your next run.

    Been absolutely loving these videos recently! I have to tie my hair up and then throw a bandana over it, (also soaks the sweat up on those hot days/tempo runs!)
    I live the near the river mersey so we get a lot of wind... can definitely agree with Anna's comment of "Bird nest look" 😄

    I think most of us are following the TRC presenters on Strava, so if you don't know what to do for a specific run, try an copy a run from one of them. If Anna do an easy 10km you do too. If Kate or Andy do some intervals at a specific pace, try to copy them. Safe running 🏃‍♂️

    I'm a larger guy (roughly 35 lbs overweight). Genetics gave me enormous thighs that cause me to chaff even when I'm not overweight. I use a combination of a anti-friction stick with compression pants to solve that problem.
    I have had knee issues in the past, and I've mostly avoided them year by just reducing the impact of my running. Its nice to beat PRs, but if you're running downhill and large, take it easy. It will save your knees a lot of pain.

    Hey guys
    I'm fairly new to running (6 months into running) and I wanted some help. I got into running in the first place cause my friend challenged me to beat his km time and then I started enjoying but I feel like I can run so much faster like I could get a better km time if I run at a uniform pace. My running usually goes as follows:

    Any tips how to keep a steady pace without the use of a pacemaker (because I don't know anyone who actually likes running :(( )

    Well; I havent got it yet, but installing a electronic lock on your door takes away the need for a key in your pocket.
    One hack you might have forgotten that is really esential for me is various types of gels; such as Tigerbalm.
    After a run when my shins feel a bit worn out I spend some time not just stretching, but treating them with something like Tigerbalm.
    Also; a good motivator for running is buying new gear. All new gear needs testing, and that'll get you out the door. And it might feel wrong having new gear and not run in it. Might take a heavy toll on your wallet; but you can never have to much running gear. 😉

    I knew I wasn't the only one who showers with a sweaty t shirt. I mean, I don't keep it on (Rick is weird), I just rinse it in the shower then hang it to dry until laundry day.

    For those long runs, spreading Vaseline on the ball and sides of my feet and between my toes before putting my socks on helps prevent blisters.

    I've found the perfect runnings tights for colder weather (with pockets for everything and more), but as it gets warmer I struggle with this problem - where do i put my phone? Nothing seems to be comfortable (especially I hate armbands). Now I use old nike fanny-pack, and it's pretty chunky, but better than armband. Any suggestions?

    I think the Zombie run is not for me 🧟‍♂️ but I do like the Story Run that the Adidas Running App provides. I do think you have to be a premium member though but some are for free. I did the mirrors edge Catalyst run wich is a EA Game I did play although I got stuck not being able to defeat a Sentinal 🤣. This way I could play it in realtime.

      An app on Google Play Store for android phones or the App Store for iPhones. It helps you learn to run because it has a story throughout. You walk (if you’re a beginner) or jog then run when the story tells you the zombies are chasing you
