Damn can you imagine horror a person who got decapitated must of felt for those few conscious moments? I'm sure they probably think they would die instantly but imagine your head gets cut off and you are still conscious of everything. That's the stuff of nightmares.

Sure, why would one write more than 100 papers and hold more than 300 speeches on medical conferences on the topic? Considering that all of these would cost Konami a hell lot of money with low profit chances (the medical community is not known for its gaming activity). And why would a renowed neurosurgeon waste his career? You would have to pay him aproximately 50 mil USD considering that the salary for a good experienced neurosurgeon is at about 1 mil. USD a year and that this surgeon would still work 20 years. The development cost of the game are at about 89 mil USD. So the idea that this is a marketing scheme is ridiculous although there are similarities beetween the character in trailer and this doctor.

I remember my 6th grade teacher told us a story about a man of science back in the day who was to be beheaded so he decided to make it an experiment. He asked his assistant to watch his head after it was decapitated and count how many times he would blink. So as he was being beheaded he kept blinking quickly and once his head was off the assistant counted 5-6 blinks from his decapitated head.
I'm not sure how true that story is though lol.

Jake Beadle ***** There has been experiments on a certain plant type that reacts to its enviroment. And when dropped on the floor would close up, however, after being dropped on the floor a couple times it learnt that when dropped, it didn't need to close up. In other words, the plant learned something. So, plants don't have feelings or conscious thought, AS FAR AS WE KNOW. Humans don't know everything, there is still much to learn.

The ethical issue with a head transplant goes beyond rejection. For the body to be sound it would have to be a case of brain death, but consciousness is more of a gradient with people having recovered from a complete loss of consciousness in the past enough to talk about how they were aware of their surroundings and unable to act. The cold water test used to determine brain death is also prone to error since they rely not on a measure of brain activity, but rather an indication that the patient reacts to stimuli. As a result of this numerous cases have arisen where patients have woken up on the organ harvest table while many others showed physiological symptoms of extreme pain and anxiety. As a result of this lawsuits have been filed alleging the majority of harveste individuals can recover and experience pain as tgey are harvested. My overall concern led me to contact the organ donor registry asking if I can place a condition that I would be subjected to neural scans prior to organ harvest in case of brain death, and even stated that i have the equipment required to make such a determination, and they refused. Given that I can't help but wonder if the donor is aware as they are being decapitated and if so how the stress hormones impact survival of the head.
I'm also curious about how social issues like reproduction would tie in. If they have children would it really be theirs? Would they be responsible for child support of children brain prior to the transfer similar to how courts have ruled rape victims were responsible fir child support? And in case of a brain transplant (rather than whole head) how might this impact Transgender? And if a brain was placed in a much younger body would it live longer? Like could a grown man have his brain placed within a little girl body (there's at least one public case where a man identifies as one) and given how parents have in the past been court ordered to allow organ donation could parents legally do anything about an adult wanting their child's face? And if it was allowed how old would they be? The age of the brain or body?

Severed heads usually live for about 45 minutes. In lab studies on homeless volunteers, it was discovered that many of them were able to perform menial tasks like chewing dirt and chain smoking menthol cigarettes well past the 30 minute mark. They all reacted to being maced and slapped well past the 30 minute mark. They would last an extra 10 minutes if placed in a freezer, and last 35 minutes less if microwaved on high. While many of them appeared to be experiencing agonizing pain, scientists say that would be impossible without a body or blood flow. These experiments were deemed totally humane.

In the book Crucibles: The Story of Chemistry, a story is related where the unnamed servant of chemist *Antoine Lavoisier* was beheaded by guillotine. According to the writer, Lavoisier immediately picked up the head and asked the servant to blink if he understood. Reportedly, the man blinked. There is also an oft-repeated anecdote involving Antoine Lavoisier’s own later experience on the guillotine in 1794. The story is dubious considering that it does not appear in any of his biographies, but reportedly he told his assistant that he would blink for as long as he was able after execution, and successfully did so for fifteen to twenty seconds.

There are many instances of heads surviving for some time after execution by guillotine during the French revolution. The most famous was the case of the brilliant scientist Antoine Lavoisier. He was accused of treason by the dastardly Marat and was sentenced to beheading, as was the custom of the time in France. Lavoisier, ever the diligent scientist agreed with his assistant that he would, after the removal of his head by the blade, continue to blink so that the question of whether the head remains conscious or dies instantly could be answered. It was reported that he continuing blinking for up to 30 seconds after his head fell into the basket.
The evil Marat was actually stabbed to death whilst bathing by Charlotte Corday (an event celebrated in a famous masterpiece by David). Corday herself was subsequently guillotined and it was reported that her head survived for up to three minutes.
Lavoisier was pardoned by the French government some 18 months after his beheading, an action which could be seen as one of the most pointless or perhaps overly optimistic decisions of the time.
