- My love for apex legends has been fading lately and I thought the game warranted a critical look at with an honest review of Apex Legends & The Glaring problems. Apex Legends Season 19 will roll us straight into the 5 year anniversary of Apex Legends. I've been having a tough time getting into the game. I love Apex but lately something has felt very... meh. The game just has not evolved. Let me know your thoughts on Apex right now. 2024 is going to be a fun year, can't wait to start streaming more! Stay tuned!

I've found myself more and more jumping off apex and into titanfall 2 since its recent update.hearing u mention a BR mode but on a huge map with titans really resonates with me. And considering the universe apex is based on it feels almost separate from the actual game play. Besides some guns and only 1 character that's actually from titanfall, without looking into the lore you wouldn't know this is the titanfall universe and that's just sad to me.
I started playing apex just about a year and a half ago and fell in love with it made it to masters and diamond a couple times got an heirloom it’s been my main game but the last couple months I’ve just lost interest I agree it’s just not evolving and pubs is just too sweaty they gotta work on it
I've played since day 1 and have over 5k hours played. I've experienced all the changes that Apex has had. The good , bad and ugly. I agree with a ton of what you've mentioned. I believe it's the willingness of EA/ Respawn to spend (money or time )to make changes. They expect their player base to spend on all the cosmetics yet can't even give console 120 fps, fix audio , or handle cheating. Apex is played on an outdated source engine that's tweaked to death while thier competition strives to make unique changes. All my friends I use to play with moved on long ago and I've stayed loyal even tho solo queuing is poison to the soul. If Apex just stays the same I'm honestly not sure I'll continue.

I miss the days of playing this game as a complete noob and not having a clue about what makes this game bad or even what a predator or 3 stack was and just enjoying it for the pure excitement and chaos. After grinding this game hard for the last 2 years, I’am above average but somewhere along the way I just learned too damn much and can see this game for all of its flaws now. Matchmaking is the biggest issue of all and just wish they would genuinely do something about it

Now it’s a great time to play the finals then. It’s in that early new phase we’re everything is new and fresh. I had this same experience with apex and Overwatch unfortunately
@@ornerycollop4670 Truth. Used to play multiplayer games like apex a lot, but then I became tired of them and switched to singleplayer games. I had way more fun with those. Now I'm playing the finals and honestly I'm having so much fun with it. I don't even feel mad when I lose like in Apex because it's so fun for me.
It's the servers. They're worse which is insane since less people are playing. EA is a dogshit company.
My problem with apex and Why I havent played this season:
Mainly it is just too sweaty. Apex is a game where you have one good match and then 16 catastrophical ones. I feel like it is just not fun anymore. And of course, Ranked sucks very badly.

I don't remember the last time the champion squad didn't have every badge I've never even come close to getting. We actually alt+F4'ed out of duos last night because of the what the drop ship spewed out after an hour of punishment. Enough is enough.

@@fistofram5526 sweat ain't a skill issue when the system they should be using for ranked, is how they balance pubs. When the whole community has an issue with matchmaking, it's not a skill issue
I never realized how important solo mode was until I jumped into Fortnite, just a mode with you by yourself figuring out the mechanics and only facing solos is always a breath of fresh air from the usual team battles, I just don't get why Apex won't see that
Because its designed as team game which fortnite or cod isn't.. Solo would be pretty unbalanced between legends abilities or sum. They should try it again tho.

For the very same reason why the characters chemistry feels so much on point. Every single aspect in this game, abilities, gunplay, map design, loot pool, is balanced out on a team of 3

Who remembers when we could get at least 2 packs from the collection event JUST by playing the game? As soon as they removed that I knew it was over

Yeah now you can earn at least for the current event I earned 1 pack just by playing. Not counting the free pack.

Remember when every free reward tracker had at least two free legendary items that could only be earned not bought? I have only seen epics for a long time.

Just going by how Respawn and EA has been in the past, I am confident in saying that anyone who is making a living off of this game needs to start looking for another game. This one is going to die because they are not willing or able to do what needs to be done. They are going to squeeze it for every penny they can they abandon it for the next new game
People been saying apex will die since S04.. Everytime its same shit with "apex dead" or "dying" videos and yet here it is still almost 6 years.People just get burnt out playing same game over and over again and then start bashing it. I have so many friends who play fortnite and have 10k+ hours and all they do is bashing the game. Just quit the game if its so bad and be done. Go play perfect game that is fresh 24-7 and lasts forever lol.
@@TheN2pster I haven't been saying the game is dying since season 4 so I don't know what the hell you are talking about and I like everyone else that is complaining has a lot of time and money invested in this game and dont want to see it die but it is going to and everybody else right a long with me has every right to complain so the only reason you have for commenting something like this on my post is because you like being an internet ass hat
@@TheN2pster is apex not dying? Player counts are down, viewers/attention is way down. Apex had a good run. It just hasn’t really bring anything new to the table since it introduced respawn cards

As a player who played apex since season 0 I can definitely say this game was fun back then now player running whit 4k damage badge and master/predator badge and now destroying lobby they need to step up fixing matchmaking!
I love Apex, but much of this video is correct. I understand them not adding a solo mode, but a BR mode with Respawns or a small-scale BR like WZ’s Resurgence could really help for quick, casual matches that still capture the BR experience.

They could do a Respawn in solo mode similar to second chance and three strikes
To sum up: Bad leadership doing nothing but launching sale after sale and not developing the game.
For me, the pandemic was my favorite time to play Apex. But then I also think that was the turning point. People had a lot of time to really grind and master. And for people like me who just casually play just got left behind. And that’s a big issue, because there are a lot more casual players.
Sheesh this was the most brutally honest apex video i ever seen by any creator ever.. you are a voice for the people of apex's community
For me the game has felt the same for as long as I remember. Every season consisted of playing BR on the same maps with little to no changes with the same guns. Now I’m even more disappointed since there’s no winter express this year, the LTM I actually look forward to playing more than anything else. Nothing new is being brought up so there’s always the same expectations each time there’s a new season.
For how long have you been playing? I don't agree it feeling the same at all. I didn't play much last two seasons (this season a lot) but have been since season 1. We had all different kinds of meta regarding guns and legends.
Love the fact that this video not only brings forth the problems with Apex, but also addresses ways that the game can be altered to be fun to play for a larger group.

This is the best summary of the state of the game I've seen so far, I completely agree with all the points you're bringing up. I love the game but only have a couple of hours to play a day, and my friends have completely quit on the game, there's just no place right now for non high-skill players, which is a shame. Really hope Respawn is looking at these breakdowns instead of focusing on selling more skins. No one left to buy your shit if they all quit lol
I'm not overly fussed about new legends every season. A dev made a good point about each legend needing to have a distinct silhouette so you can more reliably tell who you're fighting. Permanent events with like the one copy cat kits, ultra zones, 3 strikes or something where everyone gets super charged abilities would be awesome to keep things fresh. But yes, more balanced match making would have to be the biggest priority.
I'm often going against players with 10K-50K kills on their main, while I have 4K kills on my main, which is just silly.

They are failing hard at that distinct silhouette then. I can barely tell a lifeline from a rampart at times and some skins look too close to another legend. Mirage's fucking cowboy skin makes him look like seer from midrange.
@@aerostrafe1075For sure, there are a few examples like cowboy mirage that don't help. I'm pretty sure Horizon and Watson both have one that look like Valk too which was an odd choice and not ideal fromma distance.
Great opinion piece and content. Love the comparison and history as well as a day one player to truly understand and appreciate where we are from our past. I am hopeful.
I played season 1-12 of apex legends then came back seaon 15 and left 16 17 18 and i just came back this seaon only for cross progression because i wanted my seaon 1 skins trackers etc however after being gone for 3 seaons in a row it took me a few weeks to get back to where i was mechanic skill is so important apex that honestly new players dont have chance its tough
I think nomber one problem is matchmaking. There is nothing in this game to play and enjoy if you are not good.
Honestly I don't mind the content, character, map etc. Even though it is dry, it is not that important if you can't even play the game chilling, not sweating out, and grinding everyday.
Having a casual BR experience is a MUST! 🤟🔥 Even after 9K+ hours in this game I still love it but I have noticed I play it a lot less because of SBMM and when I play with friends they are barely surviving which in return obviously ruins the experience for everyone including my dear friends that just wanna have fun 💀
In other words you want a game mode where you will be matched with players that have below 100 hours of game play so that you can "have casual fun" stomping them. Non sbmm game modes are only fun for the game veterans. They do not give anything to a new player or a casual with not a ton of hours behind them.
My friend and I still have a blast playing this game with each other, but if we arent together we have no fun playing apex. I genuinely cant see myself playing this game in a year, maybe even 6 months from now if changes are not made to improve the single player aspect. I still love the game, but it needs an insane season ASAP or else its gonna slip
I think progression needs updating. You touched on problems with apex packs but I think that they should simply be more frequent. I am 550 levels in with no heirloom and i know that there are many people without one who are higher levels than me, but with new modes and things I think there needs to be more to grind to than collection event prize trackers, battle pass, the recent weapon mastery system etc. 100% agree with everything else you said. W vid, likely that a dev would see this
What really ticked me off and ended me was seeing the anniversary skins in shop, that was the one thing that made me feel unique as a day 1 player. Also SBM was horrible for me as I never really had people to play with so after a few wins back to back would get matched with bots and have to carry the team but in this game is rarely possible.

To this day after all the explanations they gave us I can't make up why there is not a solo mode for whoever doesn't want to deal with teammates. Apex imo has the one of the best 1v1's in which the actual better player wins and it's all watsed since you need to "work as a team". Imagine how good it would feel to go aggresive by yourself in a solos lobby and just go crazy. Only thinking about it is so much fun.
appreciate this vid, good breakdown. lol, it's actually crazy. around a month ago me (a non-pc but apexm player) and a friend (who has an account but doesn't really play) who pretty much know the mechanics of the game hopped in to the game. bro we have pretty much new accounts, lowest ranks but why was the competition actually so hard 💀. with the movement and all of the opponents there was just no way they were in the same rank as us
My hope is with a lot of concerns like this being brought up recently, Respawn/EA are gonna amp it up a bit next season if they really want to invest in Apex. (Hoping for a Titanfall 3 game in the coming year or so that directly can tie back to Apex)
Remember when you only had 6 characters and had to buy Mirage and Caustic? S1 Kings Canyon gives me heavy nostalgia. Was a blast to be part of this game in its early years and have some great memories from it. Not played it in about 2 years now
I had this thought the other day and I think it can help improve the game (content wise). 1 the introduction of perks (from leaks and the new revenant event) can create more chaotic gameplay and can make some viable or less viable legends more viable/ fun to play (ex. fuse with 3 stacked grenades was crazy fun). The second idea is a wall running mode where players can be in teams or 3, 2 or solos. This mode will feature faster movement, NO legends, faster time to kill numbers, and faster healing and faster dropship revives. This mode can also be a BR or an extraction shooter where players collect items and head to a dropship evac zone. there was talk of a new city map and this mode would be perfect for it. it can also be called Octanes gauntlet (because now Octane owns the Silva company so now he is the new game head). Here Octane wants to see the best of the best in pilot gear to fight to the death or gather cool items for him. This would be a mode that drastically changes the apex dynamic but at this rate I think Apex needs this to keep people invested. But that's my thought.
Agree with every point. I’ve only played 3 seasons and love the game but the match making for me is something that could make me stop. I can’t get any of my friends to join because the learning curve is so steep and I’m getting put against masters players when I’ve never got another gold and get placed in bronze for ranked.
I started playing Apex back in Season 13 and at the time I really needed something new to play I mainly Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch and when I played Apex for the first time it felt like such a breath of fresh air I hadn’t played anything like it but as of late I genuinely haven’t played it as much. Ever since this season launched I genuinely just haven’t cared and just went back to R6 and Overwatch because the matchmaking is just that bad at least you can still causally have fun in those games but in Apex??? You’re putting yourself through it just have one decent game where you at least felt like you did something and it doesn’t help that I’m sadly a solo player my friends pretty much gave up on the game because of how sweaty it is and I honestly couldn’t blame them the matchmaking is just that bad playing Pubs genuinely feels like I entered a tournament and the person that wins gets 100,000 dollars 😭 all in all I really love this game at its core it’s amazing but something has to got to give. You can’t play this game casually anymore you have to sweat
I see so many ideas online, free ideas for respawn to use. Introducing a creator program would help if they need ideas. I would honestly like to see down wih someone from Respawn and understand what the problems they face are and discuss how this game can be revived.
I hope the devs see this… great GREAT breakdown. This is the only shooter I have played since it launched and I would love some evolution. My life has even changed so much since 19, back then I was single and had hours and hours to play, now im married with a kid and barely have time to hit diamond…evolve!
Apex is a case study in how to mismanage a player base. They drove all the casuals away with years of appalling matchmaking. And how they have never put in a true solo queue rank mode is mind blowing.

Idk how hard it is and all but an idea have certain guns on the floor per day so you could have new guns in the pool The guns rotate if it’s not on the first map the next one have it on the ground Also Crafter Needs to take Zone DMG
Nah, this idea will alienate casuals even more than the game already does. This is why they limit how many maps are on rotation. My bud started playing maybe 4 seasons ago, hes got a xbox account to like level 300 and a pc account to around 150. Hes still not fully familiar with all the maps. Limiting gun availability will make casuals take even longer to learn the game which is already ultra sweaty making them way more likely to quit even faster.
I 100% agree with the crafter thing. Fuck damage tho, just make it so as soon as a crafter is touched by zone it explodes.
My problem is I just started playing apex again every game ranked or pubs I’m constantly going up against 3 stacked preds or masters!
Great video. Totally agree on all points. I remember when I was so into apex, but now its just more of the same with, The Finals, COD and Fortnite have revamped and made it fun again. Apex needs to make a change
Tbh one of the main problems of apex is the constant focus and prioritizing pros and content creators. There should be a balance between the normal gaming and this issue
Solo mode with random pickable abilities wull be a bang, i think they were trying it out in that event
Apex is one of my favorite games, but im right there with you. Its lost its fun factor. Matchmaking is in the worst state its ever been! Hope it gets fixed.
I really like 3 strikes, and i like the one now straight shot. 3 strikes makes me feel like its more fair if i die by a master bc i suck so i have another chance. And straight shot just feels quicker and i like not waiting 5min in-between matches if the last one sucked or was short
I’ve been playing since the beginning, but currently playing The Finals. Don’t know how long it takes, but I’m definitely not coming back to Apex until there is AT LEAST 120fps on console. I bought a damn new monitor for my PS5 when they said it was coming. And on top of that, the game is dry af atm. Hope it will be good again though in the future.
TimProVIsion, I doubt you'll read this, but, I'm someone who started playing Apex in season 18, about 3 months ago, and as a newbie I just wanted to give my perspective on entering the community. I actually really enjoyed the fact that the game was made up of basically a bunch of players who had more skill than me. I felt as though the extremely unforgiving learning curve was more of a challenge, than anything. Similarly to why I love Elden Ring and Dark Souls, the "get good" vibe of the game kept me coming back to Apex. I was getting killed over and over again, and in total since I started playing I've only won about 25 battle royale matches, but I personally love that. I feel like every win is because of my own growing skill, and it's much more rewarding than killing bots in a game like Fortnite. Plus the fact that there isn't a solo mode encouraged me to socialize with the community, and find players who I get along with and work well with as a team. Those players then helped teach me new skills and learn new things, and have helped me improve in the game as well! I've made some great friends through Apex in the few months I've been playing for, and maybe that's just because I play with my mic always on, but I find that despite all the negativity that can be found online, with some persistence and patience I found friends who were willing to help me improve the game and then improve together with me as a team.
I hope Apex makes some of the changes you mentioned in this video, because I've actually enjoyed my time with the game and hope that it continues to live on and evolve over time.

It is nice that you look at it that way but you are the minority in that thinking. Apex being a free game means its easy to download it, get stomped a few times, and say "Fuck this. Uninstall."
@@aerostrafe1075 That's valid. I'm definitely in the minority of players who really like that "get good" style of gameplay.
most importantly: turn open mic off you satanist. On a more serious note the "get good" mentality is not a good one for the game nor is it the majority mindset and in fact I would consider it a problem because its a never ending cycle that just makes the game miserable to play for anyone who doesn't share that mentality. Nobody thinks that just killing significantly lower skill players is fun but people want a fair shot at the game which the game objectively doesn't give you, fights should be a 50/50 of who comes out on top not through weapon choice or obscene engine exploits (aka movement tech) but through tactical awareness and outwitting your opponent. As it stands the matchmaking is out to get you and for 90% of people that isn't fun.
I started playing months ago and I feel the same as you. My background is competitive fighting games, so that explains my love for hard high learning curve games, like this one. But, the thing is, this perspective and mindset is an explanation of why this kind of games will have a permanent playerbase, but not necessarily a big one. There are many fighting games that live years with 1000 players, having the craziest competitive scenes. The shooter game scene is just not used to this kind of games, which are expert centered or specialized players and lower counts of people playing that are crazy faithful to the game. Apex will not die, but maybe it will simply not be the biggest mainstream game.
Happy you are enjoying the game. Unfortunately after 5K hours and non-stop 3 stack pred lobbies in pubs and ranked, Enjoyment for myself is hard to find.
I started playing 2 or 3 seasons ago, Best BR I've ever played hands down. BUT the matchmaking/big brother system that they have going on is infuriating, and the ranked system just boils down to time played=higher rank.
Nope, if you think ranked is just time played, try rank into masters or whatever. You need to be able to win in diamond lobbies in trials.
@ahchood2258 I mean to be fair I was D1 last season. Don't get me wrong, it's not JUST about time played but it's undeniably a massive factor especially since it's not even a ranked game mode anymore it's just a MMR based BR with few rewards. Any half decent player can win their trials when you have unlimited attempts lol
@@ahchood2258 Nah, he's right chief. Ranked matchmaking is only skill based now, so you're gonna face the same skill level of players from silver to masters. If you don't matchmake based of rank, then ranked really does turn into time played == higher rank
100% agree. The fundamentals of Apex are so incredibly good (movement, weapon handdling - basically its physics). But we need more modes, more rotation in the meta etc.
Makes sense to me that season 8-9 was the highest. I feel it was at its best state with gun/character metas and map rotations diversity
I'm very curious what the devs will plan for coming season. If they don't manage to reverse the current issues I feel like Apex will end in the gutter for a while.
I've still been playing a lot (maybe I shouldn't) but it takes a lot. Only playing ranked (30% solo) and we're doing well but it takes a lot of time. For ranked, I do like the matchmaking (hot take) because I'm playing people of the same skill. Ranked IMO has to be sweaty, but putting me in silver when I'm a mid diamond player just feels off, having to play diamond like lobbies for so long with low rewards for everything makes it just a time based grind.
2 years ago I tried this game but I find myself playing with high elos, so ofc i quit
2 days ago I decided to give it a try again and nothing changed, playing vs high elo.
how are we supposed to learn the game !! or even keep playing.
@@johnnopeyy4129 Actually what we have now and we didn't have back then are the game modes, so yeah I only play game modes and I'm not interested on battleroyal anymore xD
While hacking is almost unheard of in this game. An easy 30-40% of the player base are using exploits and cheats that make the game unplayable especially on console. The amount of times a Bangalore has used the loba armor swap exploit to reset their grey armor to purple after I crack them is so common, then they beam you with aim scripts installed on their consoles. Legit I see preds move like they’ve never played the game then as soon as I crack them they hide behind a corner and pop out with new armor that couldn’t have been swapped out legitimately and then suddenly they shoot like a predator but their movement is sooo nooby it’s obvuous
One way Apex can bounce back for me is by bringing Arenas back. They got rid of it cause no one played ranked arenas but I never understood why they couldn't just leave it as a pub game mode. Arenas is waaaay more fun to me than TDM, Control, and gun run.
I 100% disagree. I respect your opinion, different strokes for different folks but tdm and control are a ton of fun. In fact its all i play, gun game can go away tho lol, thats just terrible.

I've played since day one, I completely agree with this. I just don't seem to enjoy it anymore. Solo is horrible. I remember I think in season 2 they had a solo mode for a bit and I absolutely loves it.
They got rid cos they said it was unbalanced. Why don't they do a solo mode but only certain legends you can pick, to keep it balanced.
I really, really want to enjoy it again, it means a lot to me as it's literally the game that gave birth to the idea of my book Gamertag Stories. Come back Apex.
I personally would like to see rotating LTM modes. Also a lot less likely a mode where they test player feedback on new buffs and nerfs and possibly new items/weapons even without modles give me finger guns with same feel as the gun, and in the same mode maybe test legends as well. I would prefer 3 strikes for this mode so everyone has a chance to use these items more. I'm not sure how difficult it is to set different damage and recoil for weapons and legends stats but I personally would enjoy this. I believe it would not only be fun but give us a sense of community so long as you know they actually listen to everybody playing it lol
I personally came back after a 2 years off, and well, I found the game to be exactly the same of two years ago just with mechanics I don’t get anymore, the caustic I left is completely different, at least it feels like, plus the SBMM is embarrassing to say the least, I am always against opponents that are a little too strong, the game clearly doesn’t take into account the fact I no longer am the same player of two years ago, especially since I apparently no longer can aim in this game
Great analysis, I agree with a lot of what you're saying. Right now I'm just not excited to play. 3 Strikes was great, but Ranked isn't worth the time. In addition to the extra-sweaty lobby, I keep getting started in Rookie, even though I have like 8 seasons of Ranked under my belt. How is that encouraging?? I have to grind an extra four levels if I want to get to my usual gold and I don't have time for that. It's only been the last three seasons, so Respawn/EA changed something for the worse.
Actually I didn't really like three strikes. Infinite lifelines and newcastles ressing each other. "Another squad incoming" has become my motto for this LTM
Earlier this year Respawn added another office in Wisconsin to have another team work additionally and exclusively on Apex Legends content. There might be some big stuff in the pipeline we just don't know about. So it might not be all doom and gloom! Well at least that's my hope since i love this game.
Its been a year since that office was launched so if anything was coming out of it then we would've seen it by now

Honestly best thing they added this year was the wepon kill trackers it makes it so u can basically show of all ur kills on all the legends making kill grinding on 1 specific legend not worth doing
I think the worst part about this new era of Apex being the "holy shit ranked is so bad" year, is the fact that from now on, any time a regular apex fan sees Ballistic, they won't think about his banger backstory or his fun kit or his snobby voice lines, but his face is forever ingrained into our heads as "yeah that dudes face reminds me of when ranked used to not suck." Like the bad vibes actively seeks out and overshadows actually cool things being added to the game if that makes sense...kinda sad
A squads mode would b great, would love to try the 3rd person mode and a no abilities mode would go crazy

I just started playing the game after almost a year and I quit cuz it got too sweaty and it got to the point where it wasn’t even fun. After giving it a try again it’s even worse than I remember . i’m giving it up for good
I haven't played Apex in over a year, being some of the points you brought up as well as some other reason as why I haven't, like the start of it for me was at the end of 2022 where there was a limited time mode event that broke the game, straight made the game unplayable for a week/more for some and all they did as an apology was extend the rank playlist by a week. Now I'm not one of those players after the game somewhat breaks after a second to scream "FREE STUFF NOW", but they 100% should've let every player have a choice of a single item from that event since they didn't even extend that event to allow players time to actually play that event to earn really anything that one could playing it since no one could for a week straight. After that fiasco I just lost all hope from the team specially since their a part of EA. I feel like they need to break apart from EA and go solo or find a less greedy company to be their publisher in my opinion. But yea I too at one point longed for them to bring back Solo's as well as but since their weird view on their game is it's a "Team Hero Shooter Game" which sounds more like Overwatch and they have something that would be a ken to a solo mode in Apex called Free For All, so to me that excuse goes out the window. In the end though I feel like Apex has it's end coming and there's little to no chance of being on a increase of players in my opinion. Great Video.
I think apex would benefit greatly from a movement system “rework”. It seems like all the moment tech in the game wasn’t intentional and because of that there are no real tutorials of how to exploit the mechs. Meaning even causal who have 1000+ hours in game cant use movement in a meaning full way. In top of learning weapons in legends. Matching can’t be fixed. Because the gap between players who get it and who don’t is to huge. Meaning you’re only playing with bots/ok players or complete sweats. The gap is too big for the player base to not be two extremes.

You forgot one important thing: the servers are still at 20 tick rate and shite.This is an embarassment for a game which wants to be an esport in 2023. Riot Games baths itself in glory explaning how they reached 128 tick rates in Valorant, and Respawn tells us still shitty stories about why 20 is enough.
I enjoy the game a lot since I started in season 10. My biggest issue is constantly running into smurf accounts. As a casual player, it annoys me that because I have worked on Mirage for 7 seasons, I am constantly matched with 4k, 20 bomb sweats. Or I'm matched with lvl 25 accounts with 2000 kills. I feel everyone should have 1 verified account and only one.
Something like creative from Fortnite would be so beneficial for apex… imagine having custom 1v1, prop hunt, movement, mini game maps.
seeing apex not be on top of the industry makes me so sad because the core gameplay is hands down unmatched.
I stopped playing Apex in its entirety for over a year when they made the ranked changes around season 13 or 14 or.. whatever, can't remember. I have always been a solo player, solo grinding ranked, and the lack of a solo game mode had been rough enough as is but the ranked changes made the mode as a solo player even LESS fun. It wasn't worth grinding for me anymore.
I started playing again for a friend of mine and I have no words for how sweaty these lobbies are.
You'd think it's simple enough to introduce something like a solo game mode or fix sbmm. I genuinely hope they do something, anything about the state of the game because it's one of my fave games and seeing its potential go to waste is such a shame.
On Japanese servers god damn ranked is sweaty right now. I m jumping between gold 1 and 2 when I triple stack. If I solo it s impossible to ranked up random teammates doing silly things and for some reason the game thinks I should carry the other 2 teammates.
I feel like the emphasis on more competitive/hardcore player support is paramount for keeping the game in sharp working order. However, the game must be welcoming for casual lowskill players, so that in the end they may rise up to kick-ass players themselves. To achieve this the tutorial system needs to be reworked for clarity so players jump in. In my opinion, the game must acquaint these players with clear in-game tips for effective strategizing and tactic use as a main target. Examples may include: distance management, cover usage, item prioritization, etc..
I like Apex Legends because of the movement, weaponplay, competitiveness, character design, and short matchmaking. But, for people not too sold on the current gameplay experience, Respawn should focus on making people understand and feel that they can get better at the game.
I would be seriously surprised if something like this happens though. Smh.
To be fair though. When we didn’t get a new legend we either saw the character class system change which I believe was a big W or we saw a objectively bad character get a rework and is now a good character to play as now (Revenant). While these changes didn’t bring more players back as shown in the player chart you showed us in the video I still believe that these things were for sure a W for Apex.
Matchmaking is the big one for me. Simply can’t play with my friends casually. We having a blast on The Finals though. Feel kinda sad to move on from Apex finally (hopefully not permanently) but it stopped being fun a long time ago when the mm went awry, but in the same breath I refuse to keep playing a game that isn’t enjoyable for me. Suffered too long battling through it pretending I was having fun.

That’s so true. Left the game a bit because of my newborn son I had to stop playing when I came back it took me a month of playing literally 3 hours every night to stop getting stomped even in pubs not mentioning ranked.
Now that I’m back to my sweatiness I can finally enjoy the game just to leave it again because time and have to get dumped on for a month the next time 😢
Grats on putting in the work to get good again. But this story shows how unforgiving the game is and that is a massive problem. Im all for esports, shit i been pushing esports since Halo2 so i been at it before a large portion of the player base was even born. But i also always respected the fact that a game needs to be fun first and foremost and esports second. I would he giga sweaty in mlg customs, and in mlg ranked. But in pubs and non ranked i played hard, but didnt really call out or hold power positions like i would in ranked because it can kill the flow for casuals.
Halo even tho its kinda ass now days is a great example of a game that can be giga sweaty while also being so casual that someone who plays maybe once a week can jump in and not have to feel like they need to be a god at the game to have a tiny bit of fun. With forge and the ability to create custom matches and a custom matchmaker you can log in and go play tower of power, or zombies, you can go find a match with AR starts, or br starts, you can play the way YOU want, both casual and competitive can exist.
The problem with apex currently is that there is no option to be casual.. its either you sweat or you are okay playing loading screen simulator, because you just get rolled by the first squad you run into, mixtape brings some casualness but 9/10 matches are still pretty sweaty butnthey are also extrmely unfair. One team usually completely rolls the other and its fairly rare to have actual close matches, tho sometimes that just comes from players lacking teamwork fundamentals, in the end all players have the same damage output but 1 team has 100x more assists than the other.
This game needs a full infusion of content and almost a complete reboot at this point imo.
Ive full on quit playing the BR. Ive always hated the idea of battle royal because its too much rng imo, i cant stand getting 19th partied by the entire lobby if i shoot a single bullet, but the gameplay of apex is so good i put up with it. But omfg lime you said at the start of the vidost , it felt like a full time job.. in order to even net 1 kill it felt like i needed to be plating 5 hours a day or i cant kill anyone because everyone feels like they are so good. My experience for the most part was queue up, load in, draft squad, drop in a spot that didnt have 15 teams dropping to try and have a chance to survive but only to instantly get rolled by the 3 stack of master players who contested the poi we picked.. then load up again.. so my expeirience turned into a loading screen simulator. Load up for 2-3 minutes to loot for maybe 20 seconds and get 1 clipped and repeat… its a massive waste of fucking time.
They released mixtape and since im a halo kid at heart the mode is not only more appealing but i actually get a chance to shoot and play the game, i also find myself at the top of the scoreboard more often than not.. which makes zero sense since in the br i struggle to kill a single person. So i play some mixtape maybe 1-3 times a week for a few hours but even then it still feels like a job to do well.
Oh and lets not even get into the solo or duo queue experience.. im plat skill at absolute best.. so why the fuck do i have to fight 3 stack of masters while my random is a legit level 1 who has no idea how to heal. I told my duo bud i refuse to waste my time with the br because of the trash teammates we get who run off alone or are legit bots meaning no matter what 9/10 matches its basically 2v3. Well my bud asked to play just 1 br match this season… and boom we get the solo who does not know how to heal.. i have not played the br for like 3 seasons now because of this bs, and my first game in 3 seasons is that again.. my bud coudnt stop laughing, and said that when he plays br solo he almost never gets that.. idk wtf is this bullshit matchmaking but respawn and ea can take their eomm or what ever manipulitive matchmaking they have and shove it up their peepee holes. Fuck this game and fuck the execs holding the devs back from making the game actually good instead of some psychological manipulative engagement matchmaking.
I have got to agree with you 100% TimProVision on how Apex doesnt have any real gameplay that is tuned for the new players, and or the longer term casual players. I myself started playing Apex when it originally started, and it was extremely fun. I ended up playing almost 4000 games in the first couple of years, but then I quit playing for a couple. Now when I came back to start playing again in 2023, I found the game just didnt have any game modes for the casual single player. That pushed me into having to play solo in duos because I dont always want to be teamed up. That being said, Apex Legends does need to makes some serious overhauls to keep the game relevant for as long as possible. Last point to make is that I started playing Fortnite because my son enjoys the game, and what I found is that even though Fortnite doesnt exactly hit the mark in certain areas of the FPS genre in that its a first and third person shooter genre game, The absolutely massive amount of various game modes, along with the ability to play ranked for a more difficult game, or non ranked for casual players, along with solo up to 4 player squads, with build or non building battle royale modes has almost completely pushed me away from Apex to mainly focus my playing time on Fortnite. That alone sucks to say because I feel Apex has the potential to be an amazing game still, but there needs to be some massive work on how to increase all levels of player skills, solo match games, and then more limited time multiple respawn matches that are rotated, and not taken away. Thanks again for your honest and detailed analysis of the multitude of issues Apex Legends faces moving forward into the 2024 year, and I seriously do hope the changes are worthy of bringing new as well as more casual players back to the game. If that doesnt happen, and soon, I honestly think Apex Legends will not last much longer than a couple more years until a new battle royale game is released that makes Apex a game that just couldnt keep pace with what the game needs to keep players on the game.
Some legends I love, so change is scary. But I am for it.

Played it for a bit when i saw big x hydro (a caustic main) play and wanted to better myself with caustic. That lasted for a good 2 weeks then fell off again. Now that the finals is out and im playing Spider-Man 2 and ect, why tf would i go back to playing apex unless its to torture myself.
I’ve been playing Apex for 2 years and I’ve honestly never thought Apex was a game for casuals. To me Apex has always felt like the most competitive BR game out there so I’ve always thought it was a game for a different kind of player base.
What he said about changing half of the guns in the game is something I think they should really think about doing that because it would make the game feel so different.
They should have solo lobbies (60 players) , all ltm’s besides seasonal in mixtape. Also the ranked play needs more reward . They still have time but it’s running low
I think two things need to happen:
1. With live service games i have found that i need to take like 2 year off and 2 years on. I dont think any game can be entertaining if you play it every day for 5 years. So people really need to step away from the controller.
2. They need to increase rhe TTK. Its way to easy to get downed. Im thinking it should take ahout 1.5 clips to take someone down. Halo really does this well i find that usually have at least a few second to get away and recover.

I had played Apex daily from Season 4 up until Storm Point dropped. After that, I’d play until the map switched to Storm Point, then play something else. I despise that map, Broken Moon isn’t much better, and the lobbies I’m in, you either drop hot to actually fight because over half the lobby is dead before round 1, or drop elsewhere and spend 15+ minutes looking for a fight. I’m either frustrated that I die immediately bc the bin I opened had a white shield and a shotgun bolt while the enemy next to me grabbed an R99 and a Mastiff, or I’m frustrated bc I didn’t drop hot and there’s only 6 squads left at round 2 on a big map.
Don’t even get me started on the fact that after years of playing apex daily for hours on end, I’m still waiting for my free heirloom and most of my drip that I’ve earned has been for legends I barely play.
they have to add some kind of legend and weapons progression with free skins and specific packs as you progress and level up, look how the finals are doing this
That wont save the game. People are not quitting because there are not enough rewards, or that theres not enough progression. People are quitting because the matchmaking is too brutal and in order to enjoy the game you need to be playing almost every day and trying super duper hard. There fact that pubs are harder than pred lobbies is kinda insane too since pubs are supposed to be your chill and casual mode. Its not fun to spend 2-3 minutes loading in, drafting, landing and looting only to die 1 minute later to some cracked 3 stack of master players who roll you before you can even reload your gun, only to send you back to the lobby and having to wait 3 more minutes before you can get rolled again by a different 3 stack of master players.
This is why i now just refuse to play the br, i dont have a trio, at best i play with my duo bud and our random 3rd is always abysmally bad. Its a complete waste of time, playing video games is already in theory a waste of time, not actually really getting to play the game on top of that is a colossal waste of time.
@TimProVision I have been playing this game since the hour it launched. Grinded pred, been on leaderboards periodically for grinding & purchased every single event.
It's came to the point above everything that this game absolutely does nothing to help solo players. I hate to say but after 5 years if we don't have a permanent solo's mode I will be Uninstalling Apex for the first time since launch and its sad this is what is most likely to come.
I pray for a permanent solo's mode, ranked solo's I think could really give so much great content & even give more for pros & ranked grinders to keep this game fresh.
They need to add a three strikes solo mini br mode. Unique solo map with maybe 20-25 players so lobbies dont need the insane 60 person requirement. And maybe even release a unique legend designed for solo so everyone has to use the same legend that way we dont get a dumb solo meta for the legends. Imo that would be pretty good. The legend lock can go if people deem it dumb since i have a feeling it will, but eventually the meta will be 99% of the lobby using the same legend anyways.
We dont need new maps . We need quality of life fixes . Like sound in game how hard it it too fix . Adjust ranked its really fun when it works . I really love how you have to win a match to move up on tiers or complete the tasks make it more rewarding

Im glad i got to play old apex with my duo back then, now i dont play at all really.
I used to love this game so much. Played from day 1 for a long time. I really got into it around season 2 with the disruptor round meta. I took breaks but would always come back after a little while, until I didn’t. The game has just gotten so stale, and while I wasn’t bad at the game at all, I was tired of getting one win, and 15 losses with the horrendous matchmaking. All of that combined with so few changes and such little content. I’ve been thinking about getting back into the game, but this video makes me doubt that I’ll enjoy it again. I hope I’m wrong, and that Apex will be able to revive itself, and significantly change their weapons, legends, and add much more content.

Maybe change maps to match the seasons add some bonus care packages with one having 3 red tier weapons for all of ur team to have one each…. I’m not one for ranked as if I go down my team mates just leave me or they just try and play solo…. I play apex more than anything else and I just don’t care that I’m not getting 4-5+k damage as I’m just trying to keep my team healthy and at times it’s hard if team mates are dropping in 3 different places or they drop on to many people and not enough ground loot for everyone
Since cycle:frontier died and tarkov being tarkov, adding an extraction shooter mode for Apex would shoot the game's popularity into the universe imho.

Those skulls and maps after dark where nice to play.. but I do agree that a BR mixtape mode would be sick. Flash point, shottys and snippers, solos... dangggg the potential
