Welcome back Jessica! A small suggestion, since that you’re already back in the Philippines, why don’t you reverse the theme of The Sunbae Club (Korean Ate) by letting Filipinos try uncommon Korean foods or snacks and ask for their reactions? Thank ü and GODSPEED!

Bibingka used to be only made during Christmas time. Especially made for those who go to the very early Catholic mass at around 3 AM or 4 AM. It is eaten with salabat or ginger tea. Technically there are two kinds of rice cakes; the dry one and the wet one.

    "Biko story from my childhood"
Here in PH when your birthday comes, you should have or eat Pancit (specially Pancit Bihon), you should eat something really long because they believe that it gives you a long life.
But when I was a child, I always get sick.
Because they don't cook Pancit for me on my birthdays.
Instead, they always cook Biko on the 25th of October.
Yes that was my birthday, but they didn't cook Biko for me, they cook Biko for my grandfather's death anniversary.
So in the end, Biko was always my "Handa" on my birthday.
I really like Biko when I was still a child, but when I grew up...I don't like it that much anymore after learning that that food wasn't actually for me.
Now, only the elders in our family want Biko. They still cook it every October 25th and November 1 - my grandfather's death anniversary and birthday.
