    Always good to hear about the Wright Brothers. Dayton will always be the place where Aviation began. Many famous aviations came from Dayton and many achievements were made from the first man to orbit the earth, to placing boots on the moon, to flying the Shuttle, and many more it all began in Dayton.

      It wasn't even the first real flight in the United States, let alone the world! Americans are very misinformed and deluded about their own history! Just remember the centenary celebrations of the flyer in 2003, a real fiasco, but, showing the truth of the first flight, which never happened in 1903! A serious and effective investigation, and above all, impartial, without emotions, is enough to discover the true fact, for those who have a real interest in the truth, without nationalistic distortions, just the purely scientific point of view for everything to be clear, simple!!!

    We like to think we flew BEFORE the Wright Brothers.. Richard Pearse was a great Kiwi innovator.. cheers from NZ👍🇳🇿✈️

    If you click on the purple channel icon to the left, you can see 5 videos of the first ion propelled aircraft to carry its power supply onboard. It is just a rough model, but It is based out of Oberlin Ohio.

    There's another difference between the replica Model B and the original. The replica has a modern Lycoming? or Continental? flat-4 engine that's way way more powerful than the Wrights' original engine.

    I thought Henry Ford bought and dismantled the Bike shop and moved it to his museum in Michigan ? The one we are seeing in Dayton is a recreation ?

    There is not a single picture in a newspaper before 1908 showing a Flyer flight . Even after asked by Scientific American, the Wrights never showed them their invention.
    Why?

      Charlatão é você que não inventou nada.
      Santos Dumont inventou o 14 bis, que conseguiu sair do chão e se sustentar no ar por meios próprios.
      Depois Santos Dumont inventou o demoiselle, que foi outra obra prima.
      Os irmãos Wright inventaram um planador que para voar precisava de muito vento, e precisava ser lançado ladeira abaixo.
      Depois eles começaram a lança e o planador por meios de uma catapulta.
      Foi somente em 1908, que eles conseguiram fazer o planador deles voar.
      Diz a história que eles adquiriram a planta do 14 bis, e viram que Santos Dumont utilizava um motor mais potente no 14 bis .
      Então os irmãos Wright adquiriram um motor do mesmo fabricante do avião de Santos Dumont, para poder
      desenvolver o Flyer número 3.
      Outra coisa que eles copiaram do 14bis, foi o sistema de decolagem e de aterrissagem, pois o planador dos irmãos Wright não devolava e nem aterrissava pois ele não possuia rodas.
      Como eu disse anteriormente, o Flyer era lançado nos trilhos e,precisava de uma catapulta para ir ao ar, e ele não podia planar muito alto, e nem alcançar grandes velocidades, pois ele não possuia trem de pouso.
      Por isso ele era lançado, ai então ele planava, e depois ele caīa.
      Foi somente em 1908, que eles conseguiram voar de verdade.
      Então Wilbor foi para a França fazer a demonstração do Flyer número 3 para os franceses, e o Orvile ficou nos Estados Unidos para fazer uma demontração para o exército dos Estados Unidos.
      Antes do Santos Dumont desenvolver o 14 bis, ele já tinha desenvolvido 14 aviões, e nenhum deles voava.
      Depois do 14 BIS, Santos Dumont desenvolveu o número 15, o 16, o 17, e o 18.
      E em 1907, Santos Dumont desenvolveu o Demoiselle.
      Para acabar com essa discussão toda, e coisa e muito simples.
      É só mandar a NASA, e Airbus fdesenbolver umabreplicabdo do Flyer número um de 1903, e do Foyer número 2 de 1905, e fazer eles saurem do chão, se sustentaram no ar, e pousar no chão em seguranca
      Na Internet tem um montevdr vídeo de planadores inventados antes de 1903, que eram lançados ladeira abaixo para planar.
      Estude melhor a história de aviação, e tire suas conclusões .

    It is funny that till 1948, the Smithsonian was sure the Wright brothers weren't the first to fly an airplane. 🙂
    Also funny that nobody has any proof they could fly an airplane before 1908.
    Also funny none of the replicas built so far can fly sustained.
    Faith is required to believe the Wright brothers flew an airplane first . 👍🏻

      The Smithsonian’s deception had nothing to do with denying any credit to Santos-Dumont, as you and Palhares have implied. Nor did the Smithsonian ever deny the timeline of the Wrights’ achievements, but it simply claimed, falsely, that Langley's aerodrome was the first aircraft. So the Smithsonian’s deception does nothing to support the claim that Santos-Dumont flew before the Wrights. By the way, the Smithsonian rectified the matter, and recognized the primacy of the Wrights long before 1948. If you did some genuine research, you wouldn’t get the dates and other facts wrong.

      @@cardinalRG Smithsonian was blackmailed by Wilbur . They
      just would be able to have the Flyer if accepted some strict condition. Even without a proof they should say it was the first airplane to fly sustained.
      Even the replicas can not do that. Physics laws are the same as in 1903.

      The Smithsonian didn’t recognize them because they wanted to give credit to Samuel Langley, who was the former head of the Smithsonian. Recognizing the Wright Brothers was a correction.
      “Nobody has any proof” I guess you just ignore the photographic and eyewitness evidence.
      There are replicas that can fly. I’m not sure what arbitrary definition you are using for sustained flight, but any aircraft this early would only be capable of short flights even in excellent conditions.
