    Just an update folks, I unpacked my lay z Spa today after 6 months in storage. I was able to do this same fix again. So just to confirm.
    With unit unplugged, disconnect the flow sensor.
    Plug in and turn on - actually turn the unit on using the power button on the pump.
    Reconnect the sensor.
    PLEASE DO BE CAREFUL AS OBVIOUSLY YOU'RE WORKING WITH OPEN ELECTRONICS
    I found that the seal on the flow sensor housing had perished today so have completely bypassed it using a piece of pipe.
    ALSO
    As pointed out below. Make sure you don't have any flow issues before this, as obviously, you are removing the part that is supposed to tell you when something has gone wrong with the water flow system.
    I'd recommend that if you do - do this fix, you keep a regular eye on your pumps internals.

    Worked a treat for my Lay-z-spa. After checking the impeller and finding it was fine, I tried this fix. When I started the system after, I immediately got the E01 error. I did as someone else said in the comments; seperated the magnets when I turned on the system, then I taped the magnets together, closed it up and ran the pump. It's working now.

    Big thanks! SImple, good idea, and it is working well. As mentioned below: After magnet is taped to the sensor, before turning on the power, the sensor's connector often needs to be pulled out. After power is on, it can be reconnected, and it should work :)

    Hi watched your video bout a year ago and it solved our E02 problem. Recently we've had a new water pump and replaced the flow sensor and magnet flap. Still getting E02 so back to your method! There seems to be little magnetism between the sensor and magnet. Thanks for such a great fix

  • @ThatKeyserSoze

    I have a slightly different version of this hot tub with a slightly larger and boxier "egg." I got the E02 code when I first tried to fire the unit up. Following some of the steps you talked about, I was able to diagnose my issue down to a recessed pin on the connector for the flow sensor switch. No bypassing needed, just reseated the pin and it started working.
    So, thank you for the right direction to look in. But I also wanted to make people aware that it could be even a simpler fix than they think.

    • @michelerina9642
      @michelerina9642 2 года назад

      Interesting! Can you tell how you reseated the pin? We've tried everything.

    • @ThatKeyserSoze

      @@michelerina9642 I used a very small flathead screwdriver; like eyeglass repair kit small. Should be able to give the wire a gentle tug and not unseat the pin. May also want to check to make sure the pin wasn't installed upsidedown, which would put the locking mechanism on the wrong side.
      If I remember right, the wires didn't look quite even when correctly seated. But they didn't move when tugged and it's worked since. Good luck!

    Ive discovered that a huge issue with this error code is the little rubber nut that sits in the hole where impeller fits in ! Its supposed to be on either end on the shaft but if u dont know about it , u have no idea that little sucker is stuck in that hole and the impeller is off balance … hence that damn code!! Took me 3 tries and a discovered you tube video that mentioned this! Spread the word! This tiny 2cent piece is the cause of serious headaches for tons of people!!

    Thank you, sir! Your suggestion worked like a charm, where replacing the impeller did not! I took this one step further and ran the sensor for now to the outside of the "egg" where I taped it with a magnet. To prevent an E01 when resetting, I just separate the two first, then join them again before starting the pump.
    Problem seems to be caused at factory by an undersized magnet on a wobbly sensor where the two don't align very well after getting worn.

    • @TheQashqaiGuy
      @TheQashqaiGuy  3 года назад +1

      I think the magnet may wear out or something. Just make sure to keep an eye on the flow, if it does have a problem, there's now no error code that'll go off for an issue.
      I'm going to wire a switch to it as someone else has suggested.

    So far it has worked for me! My parents gave up on the tub and pump problems and offered it to me. After about 3 hours of fiddling with it, I found this video. It took about 5 minutes and worked like a charm!
    He did say this in a later comment but just in case you don't see that one- before connecting the magnets together, plug it in and turn it on. Otherwise you'll end up with a 01 error code. I didn't see that part the first time... anyways, unplug it, plug it back in, turn it on (just the power, nothing else) then connect the magnets. Close it up and if you don't have a bigger problem, it should work! I am going to purchase a new sensor but I'm in no rush to do so.
    Thanks for the advice and for saving me a bunch of money!

    This fix worked for me. Meaning it allowed my pump and heater to turn on and no E02. BUT... all it did was show me that when I had it running last winter and didn't get to it after the 3 day auto shut off and it froze, that i had multiple cracks at about every plastic piece you can think of inside causing water to squirt out everywhere once i did this hack, including over electronics - so be careful, make sure you don't have flow issues because of cracks! thanks though.

    Thank you for this video. It helped us get out hot tub up and running, only to realize that if we shut it off, we get a E01 code every time. No problem getting back on track, but wish there was a place I can get the sensor switch replacement in the US. It seems like the switch does hold the paddle the way it should. All the ones I see are in the UK. But for now, this will work.

    Two questions: (1) You show taking the little white cap and magnetic rod out and taping together and left in the housing. Do I understand correctly that you're just leaving it in the housing so you don't lose it? You're basically just removing these two parts and could likewise put in a drawer somewhere? Hi. I have the 2021 system. Unfortunately the internals are different in a few ways. The flow sensor housing is a different shape to the 'egg' design. It's more oblong the old one is rounded. I'm pretty sure my flow sensor has broken but having trouble sourcing the newer shape one.

      Then I would say that the E02 message is showing due to your pump being faulty or broken.

      @@aneetmw hmmm, not sure what to advise. If you've tried my pinned comment above, it must be the pump.
      The thing to remember is that the E02 code Is a warning to say there is no flow.
