Yeh that’s not a bad idea! The will be quite protected if they are behind the wheels! I’ve see people make like a ‘Y’ connection out of pipe for connecting the two waste pipe outlets, is that what yours has?
Did exactly the same thing to ensure we were CSC compliant as well. Had it checked by a NZMCA self containment man and he gave it a tick. Makes life a lot easier when you want to park up for a week or so. 👍
It is probably worth mentioning your caravan already has a shut off valve (flow on/off) and an F-type or A-Type camlock adapter (the thing the camlock clicks on to) installed. So if, like me, your caravan only has a male threaded grey water outlet, you'll need a second short length of hose screwed into the grey water outlet at one end, and with a shut off valve with an A-type or F-type at the other end. Then the set up in your video can plug into that. ... Hope that makes sense.
Just a point to note, if your shower has a non return valve fitted in the waste line (to prevent water from the onboard grey tank running back into it when driving) then you need to extend the vent up to the next height (usually hand basin). Otherwise there is a chance of the tank overflowing - as it won't run through into the shower base.
Wow that boy is growing up so fast. I have his name down for an internship at KVM Camper Vans. Not much to do though my vans seem a lot more strong and reliable than that Jacko brand so there's nothing to fix ha .. Good luck with the south Island trip. looking forward to some nice drone shots. Quick question, do you need that full set up if you’re just releasing some grey water from your onboard tank into the rollaway tank to dispose of, or just if you have it set up as a permanent over-flow tank? I often empty my grey tank into 2 of those portable rollaway tanks to then take to a dump station, but I never leave it attached. It’s purely to take away some grey water then re close the onboard tank. Interested in your view. Cheers
Hey Matthew. Really good question! 😊 as far as I know you are not supposed to release the grey water into the tank without a pipe... I’ve been doing exactly what you do for ages haha. I’m not sure if you could empty your tank into day a bucket and carry it over 😅 i kinda wanted a semi permanent setup as we plan to stay in the same place for a week or so each time 👍
Deferent inspectors sometimes interpret the rules differently, Check out All points camping web site, they do a great job of self containment. I use them for all my vans.
You can use a short section of hose to drain your onboard tank into a smaller tank (such as this) to take it away and empty it. It isn't recognised as part of your water capacity for self containment though. I use a couple of 20l containers if required.

can you have the external tank only. I have a older van that has no grey water tank. Do I have to fit a permanent one. Cheers

Doc sites are great....you can dump your grey water in the gardens an lawn. Run your hose into lawn and unhook from roll away. Ace
