what i love about void linux is it's simplicity and snappiness. never have i seen any other linux distro yet that mimics the same snappy behavior of void linux. it's desktop/windows/mouse rendering are somehow vsynced out of the box. it's very noticeable esp at high refresh rates. window dragging, even dragging a browser playing 4k60 youtube video is very smooth and does not show any screen tearing... that and with minimal memory and cpu utilization makes me like this OS more.. even more than windows.

That's great. I only played with Void, I never lived in it. I spend most of my time in Arch. Thanks for sharing.

@@linuxmench2118 i made a sample capture using my cellphone 1080p@60 at how vsynced window refresh of a youtube video (1440p@60 via brave) behaves. i cannot seem to achieve this level of fluidity in any linux distro i tried - ruclips.net/video/H0XfjmnpGpA/видео.html

@@linuxmench2118 upon further checking, it may have seem related to using xfc. trying linux mint has the same window smooth effect that i did not achieve using cinnamon desktop. the same smoothness is evident using mate as well.

The GNU C Library, commonly known as glibc, is the GNU Project's implementation of the C standard library. It is a wrapper around the system calls of the Linux kernel for application use.

So far it has been a great exp.

I never lived in Void and I played with it a little a few years ago. When preparing for and making this video, I was really impressed with the operating system.

Hey! Just stumbled upon your content. Great work! I love Void Linux so much but I have 0 use case for it. I have it on a VM just to play around with

Thanks for the kind words. I just play with Void in a VM too. My computers are running Arch Linux.

Thanks for the enjoyable and informative videos! These must help a ton of users. Since you demo the command line stuff so well, is there any chance of making a video on the pass password manager? It's the standard UNIX password manager (some distros call it password-store), available to all Linuces and is run from the command line. Good if you are not so inclined to use proprietary stuff like Bitwarden, 1password etc, etc. There is also a GUI PC app for pass called QTPass for those who prefer that, as well as various browser extensions for accessing the password-store directly from a browser login page.

You’re welcome. Thanks for the positive feedback; I really appreciate it. I use KeepassXC. It’s an easy to use graphical app available in most Linux distributions. The password manager is stored on your hard drive, not in the cloud. It’s easy to copy it on to a thumb drive for safe keeping. I played with pass a few years ago, but never really used it. I will consider reacquainting myself with it and perhaps making a video. Thanks for the suggestion.

@@linuxmench2118I'm slightly said nerd with these distros. I believe that Void Linux is worth to use. Have already installed XFCE on virt manager. Now trying to learn Void Glibc on other PC on real hard drive.

@@linuxmench2118 I assume that you have possibly already used the fuzzy package in Arch.
Have you tried fuzzypkg (fuzzypkg-1.0.11_1) on Void Linux.
It's workin fine on Void Linux also.
Currently installed Void Linux with KDE Plasma / Kernel 6.6.32_1.

Did I miss something? I believe you meant to use the mount point of /boot for the /dev/vda1 partition but you specified / as you did for /dev/vda2. But no harm done because you are not using LVM or encrypting the root partition.

Yes, I didn't do it right, though it did no harm. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I appreciate it.

How to connect wifi for installation voidlinux

      @linuxmench2118  2 месяца назад

I presume you want to use wifi to do your installation. I have no experience doing an install through wifi. If there is no way for you to do your install through wired internet, you might try reading the links on the following website. Sorry I can’t be more help.

The second most annoying distro after Arch. I won't bother with distros that don't give you a choice in how you choose to install it: The easy way and the hard way i.e. custom install. Void can't even do a guided partition you yourself HAVE to do it and this is important Void is not about choice, they force you to do the installation like it is 1993.
