Dear Klavan: How is buying philosophy, art, etc. as a patron _not_ capitalism? When you say "as much as I like capitalism, I believe there is room for patronage..." you're falsly suggesting that patronage isn't capitalism. Capitalism isn't about "making money" it's about trade and self-ownership. You can trade for whatever you like. Don't undermine how good capitalism is with this rhetoric.
Sorry, "Renaissance" does not equal "Conservative". Your intellectual views are based upon maintaining status quo. Banning books and attacking "others" is not the description of "Renaissance".
This is a superficial understanding of the word “conservative.” It’s not the “status quo” that anybody is looking to conserve. It’s the ideas that have lead to the greatest proliferation of freedom and alleviation of poverty in all of human history. As opposed to, you know, cutting breasts off of little girls, sexualization of children, and the promotion of economic and social policies that have within the last century resulted in 100 million deaths from mass starvation and genocide.
What? To stand for something means you are staying against something, first of all. Secondly, the people in the Renaissance way more conservative than the conservatives today, they would held beliefs you would consider out dated because of the time you live in. Finally, the Renaissance came out of the middle ages, and was based on the middle ages. The present is something that is complete shaped by the past. So much so that if you were to go back into the past and step on a leaf, you would change the present to such a degree that it would be unrecognizable. This simple fact is true during the Renaissance, it is true now and will continue to be true.
Your pornography books have about as much of a place in the school library as Mein Kampf. Assholes like you are the reason we are in cultural decadence.
@@JC-pi9em Renaissance thinkers including humanists were not conservatives at all, many of them were attacked and censored by the state and clergy of their time for espousing new ideas.
No, banning books - the woke rewriters with their “sensitivity readers” - and “attacking others” - the woke screaming bloody murder unless you use “their pronouns” - is an attack on the renaissance, the movement that begat the liberal values we take for granted.
I love the Klavans so much, they’re so wise and fun, and bounce greatly off of each other!
The klavans are definitely my favorites to listen to because they both talk like they're writing a story straight from their heads 👌🏻
Love these guys. Andrew is the greatest satirist of our era. A renaissance is what we need.

What does that have to do with his ideas? The quality of his argument is not contingent on who he’s married to.
You are planing a renaissance in your allowed sand box .
