While the 300 series Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol Y62 owners are talking dyno specs and measuring there peckers the real 4wders are out there in there old 80/105s and GQ/GUs hitting the tracks n giving these old rigs a flogging. You don't need big power on a 4wd just a good set up rig for the tracks you drive every weekend.
Patrol by far. I saved 50k and I just need it for a tow tug on the weekends and ferry the kids to and from school weekdays. I won't be spending $50k in petrol over 5yrs. Me that's a clear winner. And I don't need to add oil to the motor between serving. My friend works to Toyota and said why would you by a 300 series. 200 yes not a 300
Without a doubt, this year will be worse than the last. I lost a lot of money last year as a result of bad investment choices that I would not have made if I hadn't been so worried about my portfolio. I kept investing, but I couldn't determine whether to start paying for a house. In the end, I sold my positions, and the house needed more work than I had planned. I'm not sure how long I can keep going like this
True. My portfolio was diversified across several markets with the help of a financial planner, and were able to achieve over a million in net profit among high dividend yield equities, ETFs, and bonds. It is vital that you have a variety of exposure, including in firms that are currently generating cash flows.
Yep exactly my question you did a before and after with the 300 what about the y62 before and after a tune? Not a fair comparison with mount those figures????
Was the y62 done as rear wheels only also or was it done on the 4 wheel dyno. Awesome work comparing apples and oranges though cause the pre tune figures are less than the tuned figures and you've compared a tuned car against a stock car 🤷♂️
Put into perspective stock for stock the y62 stomps the 300s for +20k less and the y62 is in competition with the 200s will be very interesting to see the new v6 y63 with the twin turbos after a tune
What modifications did the 300 series have done to it? And what did those mods cost? I'm guessing alot. You could prolly buy 3 patrols for what it cost to get the 300 series to those power levels
So the reason why Toyotas motors are detuned, is for LONGEVITY And RELIABILITY..... how many of those nissan hand grenades did we all put up with years back, why wasnt there toyota versions of those, because they de tune for that reason, tune it and risk loosing it, and for what reason so you can beat a 80 series off the mark or a tradie wanker in a ranger .... but end of they day, any idiot in a bog stock camry or hyundai i30 is gunna blow the doors off any 300 or y whatever. They arent racecars and arent designed to be.
That dosent seem quite right for the y62... mine is putting pretty much those numbers out at the wheels.. not the hubs. Yes my is tuned with an intake, exhaust and custom dyno tune but is putting out 246wkw and 445wNM at all 4 wheels (not just the rear wheels)
246kw at all 4 isn’t a correct number. We have the 4wd dyno as well as the hubs and have checked back to back. Depending on tyre size (as that makes a difference to numbers) ave is 160-180 at all 4 depending on tyre size. Come down to our dyno and we will run it up on the 4wd dyno as a comparison.
that's weird on the rating. KW is a rate in which it spins up, if you have 6 wheels or 2... isn't the rate the same regardless. Example if the 2 wheel drive version can do a 0 - 60 mph in 5 sec. and a 4 wheel drive version (all the same in specs) 0 - 60 mph in 5 sec. they have the same power rating. Last example, by his explanation all things being stock oem. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is twice as slow as a 2 wheel drive..... but we all know this is not true, as we just tried a sample of pulling off the line between two exact vehicles one being 2 wd, other 4wd. Am I missing something
A dyno is just a measuring tool, used to measure gains or tune the engine better suited to your wants needs. The tune won’t be any different between the 2 just the numbers. If you don’t quite understand how a dyno works or reads power and torque I’ll explain. It reads power at the hubs/wheels depending on what dyno you’re using. Anything bolted on after the engine requires energy to accelerate (this can’t be accurately corrected so why results vary) wheels use energy to accelerate, so the more that’s engaged and turning (2 or 4) changes the figures dramatically. The y62 on our 4wd dyno in 4wd peaks power at 177kw tuned and runs in 2wd at the hubs 248kw. The energy used to accelerate the extra mass makes the numbers different on the dyno but wouldn’t make a difference on the road as it all accelerates the same. The highest number we have had from the hubs and y62 was 278kw with full exhaust inc headers, airbox, gearbox mods and fuel mods. Our 300series runs 280kw at all 4 wheels on the 4wd dyno. Impressive that a diesel can make more at all 4 than the y62 can make at the hubs with no wheels. And the acceleration is something you wouldn’t believe until you feel it. We have had both cars and love them both. The 300 is far superior in power and performance.
@@bogga163 I'm trying to wrap my head around the Kw... and I'm probably mixing up and introducing other factors when I shouldn't. So a Y62 in 4wd will record 177kw and in 2wd, will record 248 kw. So they truly are spinning at different rates... and physically we are probably seeing that the 4wd may have less KW but less wheel slip on the road surface, while a 2wd may have a higher KW but not as much traction. Because just for fun we had both Y62, one in 4wd and other in 2wd and the difference looked to be reaction times, both stock. It just look like that 71 KW difference should be big enough to see a difference in acceleration. All things considered we only accelerated to 70 kph
You must be living under a rock to believe this rubbish - compare standard motors between the two first - but now that you provided bullshit information, what about the "power to weight ratio" after the conversion of the 300?

Landcruisers are shit. Put 40k into the patrol to match up to the price of a 300 sport and you will have 420kw at all 4 wheels. It would destroy a 300 series.

How long will the drive train last in the 300 with that much torque?
Not long. You hit the nail on the head.
