- We’re heading to Colombia to hang out with one of the coolest families around - none other than the magical Madrigals! This incredible cast is stacked with some of the best performers around - but the secret behind this cast is… many of them never actually acted before! From the seasoned veterans to the newbies who brought their talents to the Disney screen - no one missed a beat when filming Encanto.
Stephanie Beatriz is no stranger to the business - the Argentinian-born actress has spent loads of time doing voiceover in the booth and acting in Brooklyn 99 as Rosa Diaz. Being part of this film was extra special for the actress - especially since her father is Colombian!
There was no shortage of legends in this cast. We’re talking about the likes of John Leguizamo, María Cecilia Botero, Diane Guerrero, and Wilmer Valderrama just to name a few!
There were some other pros in this movie who didn’t happen to be so well-versed in the filming world - but that didn’t stop them from blowing us out of the water. You’d never guess that Adassa and Mauro Castillo had never done any acting before because their parts in the movie made their mark. We wouldn’t be surprised if we start hearing their voices a whole lot more!
What was extra special about this whole cast is that all of them had some personal connection to Colombia - either they were from there themselves - María Cecilia Botero recorded the entire movie from her home country- or one of their parents was Colombian. Getting to celebrate that culture and passion boosted everyone’s performance and left us with work that is nothing short of amazing. We’re Encanto fans, there’s no doubt about it.

Even at 7:14 i think those were some clips of camilo’s lines to casita, but they cut it out from the movie.

Well it is pretty common in animated movies for the actors not to be in the studio together, so them not recording together here is nothing new
@@gurp1997 actually for a lot of voice acting they have a group of characters in the same room because it’s easier to get conversations to flow. the reason why recently there hasn’t been that is because of the pandemic. If you watch moana behind the scenes Dwayne and auli record in the same room together at the same time
Disney's animators have this uncanny gift of being able to make the characters look like the actors who voice them. Not 100% exact, but so damn close you can see the influence. They're VERY good at what they do.

It makes so much sense that they casted her as Isabella
imo if there ever would be a live action then theyd need to cast an actual dark skinned person. so no she wouldn't be perfect..

The actress of Dolores is so beautiful and i love her voice especially her soft voice which is one of Dolores' trademarks. Dianne is also perfect as Isabela, actually all of them are perfect in playing their roles. Hats down to Disney for casting actors with Colombian roots
My favorite is Abuela's voice. She has the warmth and somehow I feel her voice conveys the wisdom, pain and experience of the character. Loved her above all others.

He's more than just Sid. This guy has been in many Hollywood movies for decades. My favorite performance is the Clown/Violator from Spawn.

*For the record. I need you to know that the media never cared about this movie until people fell in love with it.*
*Encanto came out in November. Stayed for one month in the cinema until they released it on stream. Then the wider public saw it and loved it.*
*That's why all these media hype are in January. You won't find any from November and December, despite that they saw the movie.*
I knew this movie would’ve been good but why pay for it when you can just wait for a month and watch it for free..
But ofc i didnt have a high expectations due to lucas.
Also, I read the critical reviews the other day. People have been trying to write LMM off as something of a ...not one-hit, but a one-note wonder.
The crazy thing is that a bunch of the reviews said he needs to take a break from writing songs. They kept saying that the music of Encanto is bland and (get this) none of the songs were memorable. None will stand out after the movie is over, they said. Shows what they know. This movie was totally underestimated and unappreciated by the critics.

The thing is you can tell Bruno's part in all the songs was written by Lin for himself.
#8 is my #1. I loved Jessica Darrow's singing in Under the Surface\Surface Pressure and her work as Louisa overall.
Luisa touched my heart so much. So cool to hear she was voiced by a Cuban American - representation feels so good!

Hmmm... I'm a little bit older.
Watching the movie, I noted the wide range of shades, shapes & sizes and thought the accurate depiction was awesome, but I didn't realize how much the actual people influenced the looks of the characters. Its that type of attention to detail & authenticity that I enjoy about the more recent Disney movies 🤗.
P.S. Lin Manuel Miranda + Disney = I'm here for it!!! The attention to detail he puts into his music is perfect for Disney.

Sometimes in some Disney/Pixar animated movies they did animate themselves as a cameo.
It's not super unusual for the character designs to get altered slightly after casting because they like the look of the person doing the voice. Felix's actor does look CRAZY like the character, though.

Dos Oruguitas is my fave . Who wouldn't like it? It's very emotional and I cried everytime I watched it.

It's amazing how Disney add some of the facial features/looks of the voice actors/actresses to the characters.

I relate to Luisa's song, Surface Pressure, feeling the pressure of being the strong one, but inside, we break down from the heavy lifting of keeping our emotions or thoughts together... but I can say that Encanto was really special and relatable to what people go through now, Being the Foundation of a Legacy(Cassita/Pedro) Loss of a loved one/finding joy again(Alma) Insecurities/finding time to be vulnerable and relax(Luisa), Forced Perfection/Discovering there is more to one than their talents or looks (Isabella), It Also Taught Us To: Listen to Your Heart(Dolores), Finding Yourself/Being true to who you are(Camillo), Communicating with the ones who are most quiet/animals or people(Antonio), Understanding Your Emotions and how they work(Pepa), Healing the soul/helping others (Julieta) Seeing into yourself and helping others to see themselves as their best version of their future self(Bruno) Supporting and caring for the past(Felix) and Loving Your Children, gifted or not (Augustine). But above all, Acceptance, Self-Love and giving/receiving Family Support(Mirabel)! The candle could not only represent just the magic or miracle, but: Love Shines Brightest Of All!

The voice of Dolores who singing is Adassa she is a Latin artist I met her back in 2007 when I was 18 she did a concert in Italy I got to dance on stage got a picture of us on stage. I have her autograph and a few of her songs I got to meet her in person she is a nice person.

It's amazing how many of the characters look like the actors. Fantastica. My 8 year old is thrilled that her name is the name of one of the main characters. I think my 10 year old has clung to Mirabel as being her fave. While my kids say I'm like Delores because according to them I can hear everything, even when they are upstairs in their room whispering. Got to say she is my fave so I take that as a compliment

Stellar cast! I wish more people recognized diane guerrero for her role as Jane in Doom Patrol, where she plays 64 different personalities. She is a phenomenal actress

Angie Cepeda did not have a big part in *Jane the Virgin* but for some reason, she was one of my absolute favorites so to hear her voice as Julieta was wonderful! My favorite character is probably Dolores, and favorite song is *Surface Pressure* by Luisa (Jessica Darrow).

I actually personally know Adassa, she goes to my church every sunday. It's crazy to think that I know someone that's in a movie! I also watched Encanto a to the day it was published with her in the same theater.

Diane more so, because I simply adore her as Crazy Jane in Doom Patrol. She's an extremely good actress with lots of range for sure! with Wilmer, I couldn't recognize his voice off the bat. But I know him from The 70's Show for sure.
