  • After two weeks of trying everything we possibly could, I finally worked up the courage to put poor Peanut down.
I know in my head, it was the right thing to do... but my heart is not so convinced.
The boys are working well, and even the new boys seem to be pulling their weight over in the big barn.
The shop build is full force, with all of us helping out our plumber Mike to get the insulation down on the ground and get the infloor heat tubes laid before concrete arrives next week.
Wheat harvest is around the corner, and second cut hay needs dropped ASAP...

There is nothing worse than a Forman not relaying important information of the concrete pour date. Knowing that you are pushing to get it done for a date you have been given. He knows full well that it takes one bad store to undo all that hard work, it’s why it’s always left to the last minute to ensue that no damage happens before the pour.

Sandi don't be hard on yourself or allow anyone else to be either. You are who you are! Your love and compassion for your sheep is so beautiful. You did your best for Peanut, and as sad as you are, just remember you loved him, and he knew he was loved all during his decline in health. He didn't die alone, even to the end you were with him loving on him and that is golden! 💛

It takes a strong, ethical woman to do the right thing. Overcoming your heart is the sign that this isn't just a job or income for you. You are emotionally invested in another living being. That's why you touch so many people and your followers are devoted to you and your journey. We love that you love your animals. Peanut is fine. Now Sandi, take care of Sandi.

The fact that you care so much makes you a better farmer and a better shepherd ❤ even though it causes you pain, it is a good thing, it makes you so attentive and work so hard for your animals.

You did the right thing, for that baby.
People that are negative about how you run your farm. Have no idea, how it is...unless they walk a mile in your shoes...don't judge others.
You are an amazing person that only wants the best for your animals!!!!❤

Honesty, I couldn't believe that Peanut made it more than a couple of days. I fell in love with him the moment I saw him but told myself not to get attached. Then, against all odds, he thrived. I wanted him to grow and live so badly. You gave him the best, unfortunately it just wasn't meant to be. I'm glad we got to have him as much as we did. You have my sympathy Sandi.

It's hard when you know what's best for Peanut and other lambs/adults. No one wakes up thinking "Yay! I get to put down an animal." I cried along with you every time you have to make that decision. Your compassion and love for these animals is one of your best attributes. We were all rooting for Peanut to get better. If farming was easy, everyone would be doing it. You are doing great! We love you and your family. Keep your head up! ❤
