Ever thought about leaving the top rack in the front to back position and drilling a hole in the front and back sections to slide a couple rods through so that the canoe can rest on the 2 rods and get tied down.

Some good ideas there for sure!

You could probably add some hitch tighteners to add some more stabilization to the 2 inch hitch connection.

Interesting. Built a canoe rack on my ATV with some truck racks from the Surplus section at Princess Auto. Not as simple an idea as the hitch mount but rock solid on logging roads because of the 2 points of contact. When not in use, remove the front part but leave the rear exactly for rollover protection.

Excellent Video and set up. Thanks for the detailed info. We just need this lingering winter to get lost. I want the spring to get here so bad I can taste it, hahaha Thumbs up buddy.

@@DrenalinAdventures Oh yes , I enjoy the videos. it gets me excited to get on on my bike and hit the trout lakes of Northern On and Algonquin park creeks, no ATV's in the park but I do use the Honda 250crf Duel sport to get to some of the allowable spots hehe.

Very cool Scott. I have an idea that may improve your canoe rack set up. It would simplify solo loading, be more secure and still work for hauling tree stands and that sort of things. I'll try and remember to explain it next time I see you. Cheers.

Pool noodles sliced, or PVC pipe insulation would also work as padding. Also could you put a hitch receiver on the front? I don't know anything about them. but having 2 would provide even more stability.

Like Red Green says if the women don't find you handsome they should at least find you handy. If you find the strap in the middle holding the boat to the rack coming loose you could add a strap from the rack to the front of the boat since the rear straps are trying to push it forward.

Perhaps you can clamp an upright bar on the front rack with a cross bar on top for extra stability.

Yes, I ‘twas thinking that as well - the fact that the ATV is on even ground helps in the video, but this is not always the case.

That would work but the idea is that it isn’t necessary. This surprisingly works really well.

Where did you get the license plate bracket?

I do the same thing with my side by side but I added a 2” reviver in the front and use 2 off them .I only use it for my sportpall 🛶 canoe , even with pool noodles after extended time I see some wear on the gunnel of my sportpall I am leary of putting my Swift on top of it … note just loving that camper .
