Great video. It’s interesting you keep stressing don’t use wrist to add spin while the other famed coach emphasizes otherwise. The high speed camera footage is on your side👍🎾
Thanks Jason. To be clear, the wrist is not "locked", it moves naturally when the sequencing is correct and the arm is relaxed. The attempt to play with the wrist is a myth that some famed coaches advocate, but this is poor advice for players at virtually every level. Yes, the video footage and images prove otherwise. Thanks, John
Great question! "Feel" and practice. Keep the same racquet speed, but apply more spin for a shorter flight. It's really a "feel" to blend the spin, speed and depth. Practicing the drill I present in the video will develop this variety. Thanks, John
Hi John this was really exceptional as always just as with all your serve videos this helps alot. I am trying to migrate from being a more flat hitter to getting more forehand topspin. Will loweringly more back shoulder aid in getting more topspin or is that just bad technique ?
Hi William, Thanks for your great question and contribution to the video. Lowering your back shoulder will likely create a more upward swing, but it will also result in two things:1) it potentially will influence (open) the racquet angle, and (2) it will reduce rotation of the body. The ball doesn't respond to shoulder angle, it responds to the racquet speed, angle and path. If you can create the desired spin and maintain your posture, I believe the results will be more consistent. Best, John
@@williamsannuto8239 Hi William, that's tough one to predict. Nadal's injured foot looming, Djokovic not maybe as match sharp (but rested) Alcaraz on a roll but lack Grand Slam experience...Tsitispas is a threat on clay and was a finalist in 2021. And Medvedev, who is so tough. I am going with Djokovic. He want to stay with (or pass) Nadal's 21, has the experience, and is well rested.
@@PerformancePlusTennis I agree I think Djokovic is the odds on favorite based on his experience and I feel he will beat Nadal unless Nadal serves incredibly well. For Carlos I think there is something about him he has this it factor and seems to embrace the big stages and welcomes fierce competition in big matches. I am going with Carlos I feel with him tennis hasn't seen anything like him ever. He is as they say a turn on the TV type of guy. For me those guys were McEnroe, Connors, Agassi, Sampras, Becker, Roger and Carlos at least for me is the next. I also think Djokovic better win as many slams as he can this year cause Carlos is coming quickly. Like Hoger Rune as well. Very disappointed in the Americans another busted clay court season. Since Courier, Chang and Andre Americans haven't had a threat on clay in 20 years just awful. More coaches more technology more resources less top end talent. Hard to believe.
@@williamsannuto8239 Hi William, I can't disagree with any of your viewpoints. Carlos is the next superstar. The time window on Novak (and Rafa) is closing quickly, as the new generation of players are much better than the previous group that could never truly penetrate the top 3 (Del Potro could have, Wawrinka and Murray did well). The American men are currently better, and there is hope with Sebastian Korda, but after that I don't see anyone who is a consistent 10 player or grand slam threat. Best, John

The two cones in the service box are quite close. How do you adjust between the two?
