At least he didn't throw his helmet. I guess he knew he'd need it to 1- Hide his tears. 2- Protect himself against the 16 year old kid he decided to jump.
His apology was actually well thought out. The incident is ireedeemable but he does tell everyone that he himself is quitting motorsports because he understands that what he did was completely wrong. He also says to not be too harsh on anybody for being 'lenient' with him, because they did not have the authority to actually take away his licence. He surrendered it himself out of guilt. What he did is dangerous and stupid. But I applaud the man for coming out with a REAL apology, and not some canned response to shift blame / 'sorry you got offened' type shit.
I get angry every time I watch the footage and want them to throw the book at him but that apology seems genuine. I hope he can get some help after this.
It's good that he apologised, even better that he handed his own licence in, but he still needs to be formally banned for life by the FIA. Frankly I think he should also be investigated for assault, but that's a decision for the police.
I'm with Jenson on this one. Throwing a piece of debris like that could have potentially *killed* somebody. This goes beyond manus behaviour into criminal territory. With everything that's transpired, Corberi would be extremely lucky not to have charges pressed against him
rest of the racing world: "that's it for you, you're too violent" nascar: "ey boy! I heard you're not only throwing it around the track but also throw those fists..."
Not really. Nascar, as little interest as I have in it, is all about successfully navigating around at the edge of adhesion while managing ever changing multi car aerodynamics. I'm pretty sure those people don't want to crash and burn as a matter of regularity.

There's literally drivers who've done crazy purposeful crashes & even outright had fist fights post race & loads more stuff that's isn't so public e.g. Racist father & son ganging up an Indian driver & abusing him.....The current precedent is literally that this behavior is ok if it isn't on camera, doubt standards
No doubt this guy & his Dad need major racing & legal repercussions, but I think questions need to be asked of the FIA as to why a guy hanging around a fast straight looking sketchy didn't bring out a red flag, & why a bumper thrown onto track still didn't bring out a red?!!
Throwing an object on track during a race, to me that's reckless endangerment. He threw it at a mobile opponent, that should be classed as assault. He missed his intended target resulting in another competitor getting hit and I question why the innocent party hasn't sought legal action.
Hi there, i wanted to share a story with you guys wich happend to me back in 2019 i was 12 years old at the time and taking part in a local karring championship ( it is a small town so no tv broadcasts or anything ) so there was this guy who joined in the championship. I must say he looked alot like mazepin spinning all the time but since then he has imporved, anyway the championship starts, and 3/10 laps in he suddenly is right behind me ( me being p5 and he p6 ) and there was a nice hairpin comming up, so i did what any karting driver would do, try to defend , so once at the hairpin, the guy goes round the outside and i had the inside, as he is comming out of the turn, he all of a sudden moved to the inside line, hitting me in the back causing me to spin out. I was very sad that day, but what cheered me up was his sportmanship, right after the race he came to me with some fries at my garage and apoligized and we shook hands and now he is my best friend... It was a pretty crazy experience hitting the wall that hard ( there is not alot of runnof area ). So thats my story i wanted to share with youguys, i could've also decided to throw a part of my kart at the dude but i didnt😄 thanks for reading tho.
FYI for anyone checking this out late, the FIA recently landed on a punishment. Corberi has a 15 year ban. I'd say that's reasonable. Not sure if his father faced any punishment, but he should have.
That wing might’ve cut someone, make a huge wreck on that corner, or damage a driver which could render THEM not being able to drive FOREVER. For shame.
I started karting in 1967. I'm glad I'm too old to race karts anymore. The on the track and off the track behavior of todays young kart drivers is disgusting. A true reflection of today's society.
Given I've only been karting a year now I can't say much, but from what I've seen you're looking for any excuse to confirm your biases. Sure, I've seen a few messed up things on social media relating to intentional sabotage of other drivers, but quite frankly pretty much everyone I meet are perfectly fine and a bunch of fun. So personally I don't see why you need to throw in everyone else when one or two idiots appear. You haven't even mentioned any examples, and what examples exist are clearly one offs. So I consider your claims self evidently false for the most part. By the way, Karting has Masters classes, you are never too old for it. My local karting place has a number of 50+ guys.
Bro I thought Russell Ingall v Mark Skaife was the most outrageous act of aggression I’d see after someone was taken out but this dude took it to another level
Still though the track Lonato is honestly an incredible track, and it is so so iconic and legendary in the karting world. Only problem is that the owners are terrible
its pretty sad that even after throwing a bumper at the dude and missing he and his father had to gang up on him, a 15 year old, off guard, truly a low brow move in any context

Cozmo Anki He literally waited for the race to end to attack the other driver though, that was definitely planned out, and NOT because he lost his temper.
Cozmo Anki I’m pretty sure anyone waiting 15 minutes would think “Hey, maybe I shouldn’t attack this guy, maybe I should only say some things to him, maybe cuss him out a bit as I already have done something really stupid” but no, he didn’t. He waited for the other guy, after the race and absolutely done something stupid that he probably knew what he was doing
His statement is as follows about the issue: "I'd like to apologize to the motorsport community for what I've done. There are no excuses to explain why I've done such a disgraceful act, this has been something I've never done in my 15 years of career, and I really hope it won't be seen by anybody else in the future. After the race, once i've been called by the sporting judges, I've asked them to take my licence away because I was fully conscious about my irreparable mistakes, but as they showed me, they don't have the power for doing it, it's written in the international rules, so please, don't be against them, they were just doing their work in the best way they could. For this reason I've decided to don't take part to any other motorsport competition for the rest of my life, that's not a self justice, it's simply the right thing to do. My family has been in karting since 1985, we've seen it grow, we've seen the best and the worst part of it. This episode will be remember as one of the worst in our sport and that's something I'll never forget. I'm not asking any indulgence, because I don't deserve it. I will totally agree with the punishments required. I'm writing today to say sorry even if it's not enough, because after all the bad things that happened during this event, the worst ever has been done by me, a guy who love this sport and after the worst day of his life will still remember his good racing memories. Thank you"
@Lord Mahaveer Maldonado Conspiracy theory - the boy was forced into karting by his father, and felt he had no way to make anything of his life other than karting, which he secretly hates. The only way he could escape his father's pressure was by getting banned from the sport by some other authority. Therefore, he thought of the most illegal thing he could do and waited for an opportunity to make it appear caused by anger. When he got driven off, he had planned to throw something on the track, so he grabbed the only piece of debris from his own cart and threw it believably, but ineffectively, on the track. Fearing that would not be enough, he then proceeded to start a fight in the pits - not actually injuring anyone, but making sure his behavior was inexcusable. Later, he finds out that the relevant authorities can't actually ban him for life, and has to paint himself into a corner - tying his father's business reputation to his very public, very loud promise never to kart again. He then goes on to chase his dream, his scheme successful. Whether his father is aware of his scheme or not, his career is unsalvageable, and therefore his future is his own.
I remember an incident with my older brother about 10 years ago that was like this. I was 11 and he was 14, it was his birthday and he and his friends went to go karting and so I went with them. After the race I topped the leaderboard, and unsurprisingly my brother was mad that his little brother beat him on his special day, and like any 14 year old that thinks he's hot shit, he decided to fight me (Back then I played Rugby and was just as big as him so I kicked his ass.) The thing is, we were just kids and we acted like kids, but Luca is 23 and that behavior is unacceptable for an adult.

The hell are you on about? a lot of amazing drivers that are absolutely F1 material are still racing karts, all of them are driving KZ karts which are honestly the scariest things on 4 wheels since Group B and Superkarts.
@BallersKingdom Have you ever raced karts? I’m not talking about those rental karting places but the two stroke karts and especially shifter karts, they’re fucking intense some F1 drivers even say shifter karts are more physical than F1. The races are always intense and really it’s just a lot of fun, obviously all of the drivers in karting wanted to race cars but who knows maybe because they dont have money ( one the of world champions right now said thats pretty much the reason why they cant get into cars ) or they just race to have fun. Some drivers also coach other karts and help the kart manufacturers develop their kart. Another reason is that karting is the easiest type of motorsport to get into, if you have a kart and the track is open you can practice with just a few preparations unlike cars.
people dont seem to think that him throwing a part of his kart at someone could of seriously injured someone or killed them. it is totally unacceptable
Be honest, this incident reminds me of a video from a motorcycle road racing event in Indonesia (I forgot which city hosted the event) that went viral in 2017. In that video one of the riders who wears a high visibility vest was crashed into the barrier by another rider until he fell off, and runs away from him. The hapless rider then waited for the rider who dumped him earlier to come around while picking up a sandbag used as the track's barrier, and then throwing the sandbag towards the rider in question once he comes around. I forgot which rider was hit by the thrown sandbag, but the rider which was hit by the sandbag fell off and try to pick up a fight with the rider in the hi-vis vest who threw the sandbag towards him. Eventually those two were disqualified from the event. One glimpse at this incident reminds me of that Indonesian road racing incident, which I think would land a blow similar to Little Boy Atomic Bomb to the respective motorsport discipline.

are you refering to Piquet, Senna and Verstappen? well, the trio got a fine each one. the problem isn't the fight itself, give them a fine just for that... but the bumper incident, yes, permaban. he could've injured the other guy, or worse a completely innocent guy that had NOTHING to do with it wich actually recieved the hit from the maneuver. i know it is a plastic thing and that probably would NOT kill him (i dunno tho, if he hit head on in the head that would be a 100G impact, well enough in the range to kill someone... even falling to a body of water with that kind of impact is enough to kill someone), but i don't wanna know the kind of damage he would take traving above 100km/h. even cotton at those speeds hurts like hell if hit head on.

I read somewhere that he lost ownership of the race track because the FIA just threw him out but I don't know how accurate that is

FIA banned him from racing for 15 years. He is not allowed to race until 2036.

His statement is as follows about the issue:
"I'd like to apologize to the motorsport community for what I've done.
Thank you"
@Lord Mahaveer Maldonado or its just adrenaline

Honestly I’m amazed the guy he *actually* threw the bumper at didn’t come looking for a fight. Life ban for sure.
