Our new friends from the Munjack anchorage have invited us to the nearby town of New Plymouth on Green Turtle Cay. They need more rum and we need to upload a video, so we figured we'd bring everyone along for a whirlwind tour of the "city life" here in the Abaco Out Islands.
We have Nancy, our Green Turtle tour guide, with us and Gee our motor vessel chauffeur. They share a few of their favorite tourist stops and a few local spots for booze, food and groceries.
As always there's loads more including photos and links on our website: www.gonewiththewynns.com

I know we’re bound to get this comment a hundred times so let me answer it here:
Yes, filming and editing video takes us a long time. It’s a balance between creating videos, writing articles, keeping up with boat chores and enjoying our travels.
In a perfect world, we could do it all and be up-to-date but unless we have a full-time videographer and editor on board there’s no way it’s gonna happen.
That said, we’ll be working our butts of the next few weeks trying to play catch-up. Our goal is to be less than a month behind and I think we can do it if nothing crazy happens in our lives (and depending on internet for uploads of course).
you are on a trip of a life time. the videos are to entertain us and provide us with a sense of what's life is all about. so don't worry about being behind a bit. you'll catch up on a day you're bored. take your time and enjoy life without deadlines.
Gone with the Wynns we've gone to all the same places in the Bahamas u guys have been I would recommended going to treasure key beach
That place looks more expensive than Hawaii. Cool drone footage. Thanks for sharing.
You two just keep doing your thing and we will always be here to watch when you get the vids uploaded. We know that trying to enjoy your travels, work on the boat and relax time let alone internet issues takes a lot of time to make thing happen.. Fair Winds, Safe Travels and
Stop The Madness and Start The Adventure
Thanks Rezo, many people don't understand when things aren't in-the-moment, but you totally get it.
What a surprise to see my late father's old boat, and that Gee is happy with it. Tonka was originally named HunkyDory when dad imported it to the Bahamas. Man Of War, and the Abacos, were a second home for my folks for many many years. Enjoy your stay.
+William Burgner what a small world! We loved that little boat. So perfect for the Bahamas. Glad to bring back some fond memories of your dad.
No complaints here. I've been following along for awhile now. When I was pregnant in 2014-2015 I watched you both with my son kicking my insides and now he cuddles up next to me at 22 months old while we both enjoy your adventures. Your Chicago videos inspired me to take my family there this summer. Enjoy your travels and I look forward to every future upload from you two.
Thanks Melissa, that is such a cool story!
It makes me happy to know someone is following their dreams. This society does so much to squash them. Keep up the good work!
Things don't look like they've changed all that much in 30 some years. Thanks for the memories.
$10 cranberry juice but the lobster is free...I could live with that. ;^)
I'm generally just happy that you are posting anything, I love watching your videos, no matter what order they are in! Keep up the good 'work' 😍

ditto...
I think it is remarkable how well you guys do at uploading your timely posts....no complaints coming from here.....
No complaints here. I'm just along for the ride.
What a wonderful surprise this morning! We were curled up in our living room catching up on a couple of Wynn videos (sunken ships from earlier this week and a December Q&A) and *boom* Green Turtle Cay dropped into my watch list. Given that we are looking out our window onto a layer of snow that was covered up by freezing rain and then a sheet of ice, your Bahamian video was a nice little ray of sunshine in our life. No complaints here about your posting pace -- we enjoy them whenever they come!
Thanks Stephanie! You are too kind :) Stay warm.
Hi i'm from sweden and i look forward To next video. I like your videos a lot. I love that you have your cats on board.
Beautiful lil island
I left some memories back on that island
Looks like a lovely sweet place.
Love you guys!
So good to see you two, thanks for the awesome videos!!! ;)
in gone with the wynn land a month behind makes no difference.
the videos are awesome!
I can’t stop watching it..
What an amazing journey you guys have had so far. Just think about how time has flown right by. I have been enjoying your videos here in Djibouti, Africa... It keeps me going on the weekly basis. My wife and kids are also watching them in San Diego, so it is exciting to talk about your journey and how ours will be when I get back and we untie the lines, and set sail!
Awesome, thanks Joshua.
Very informative regarding the cost of groceries - thanks for sharing.
just wait for the provisioning video we plan to post tomorrow :)
What a cute town! Love the architecture and those lovely paint jobs.
Anything at anytime is fine with me ! Just glad to see you guys ! But would like to see more of you guys sailing !!! Not just land ! But anything is better than nothing !!!
So great! Thanks for taking the time to make this!
looking awesome
What a beautiful place! It’s all worth it right there 😉💝
Reminds me of the Bahamas I grew up in all those decades ago
Thanks again! such a great difference from the desert....a nice break
Such a cool little town i love it
Your videos are such a treat we dont mind the delay! Kisses and fair winds! I hope one day to meet you in person with my future catamaran!
You videos keep getting better and better. Thanks!
Very nice. Seems as if you are really enjoying life.
Y'all did better than I would have....i probably would have hung out there for several months!
Nikki always the fashionista, reckon you would look elegant even in a hurricane! OK....drinking rum is fun, whisky makes you frisky whilst gin will give you a grin but best go light on the brandy!! PS great video!
hmmm, light on the brandy? I wonder why? Too sweet maybe?
Stock up in Marsh Harbor. Sorta like real grocery stores there.... Good other stores too.... Y'all are doing great!
Great video you really did a great job showing Green Turtle cay, I am thinking of going to Abaco (treasure cay) in June I will have to go green turtle cay now. I understand the water is very shallow in some spots is that why you had to go through the cut I guess north of whale cay and then back in to the sea of abaco south of whale cay. Safe sailing
I love your video's and will take them as I get them and be happy. Sail on Wynn's!
You do a wonderful job making incredible videos. Thank you. Keep having fun.
Beautiful and tranquil
That place looks more expensive than Hawaii. Cool drone footage. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, a very friendly bunch!
My wife and I look forward to your videos and living a bit vicariously before we get the chance to do the same. We were "Lagoon people" before watching you on your Leopard - now I think we are Leopard people all the way. Such a nice boat - might be going to Miami to check out the new 45'. Thanks and keep up the awesome videos!
We got to see the 45 at Just Cats as it was on the way south from the Annapolis show, it's very nice. If you are serious make sure you speak with Peter at Moorings, he's helped us out with a few Leopard specific things and seems to be a nice guy.
Beautiful! I always love seeing you with friends. Makes me feel you're safer for some reason? And yeah if you hadn't said Thanksgiving I would have never known it wasn't yesterday! Such slow internet would drive me bonkers! Thanks for this, always enjoy you two so much. Cheers!
Amazing how little communities spring up and to see how they get by doing the day to day that the rest of the world does but always with a slight flavour based on the history of the place. Great video and a good visit. Cheers for now guys, see you next time... ;-}
My favorite memory of living on a boat was Lobster and eggs for breakfast. Mimosa too. Hope you do that soon💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛💛
Damn, when I find Kerrygold butter under $2.50 each, I stock up!!
Keep up the great work
Nice.
No one goes to jail in Green Turtle Cay....Its a mini paradise
That looked better than the "original" Plymouth Rock.... LOL
Thanks for another great video. I really enjoyed it.
That looked like a great little community. I might have stayed a while longer.
I'm much more of a sailing person, but that little motor yacht seemed really handy.
Good Vibrations
looks like a Painkiller! made famous at Ivan's on Jost Van Dyke, BVI
You might consider putting your videos on thumb-drives and mailing them to someone on the mainland to upload. That might actually be faster - especially if you do more than one at a time.
And that's why many cruisers in the Bahamas reprovision in Miami or Ft Lauderdale, even if it does take half a week. It's not bad if you're buying local chicken and eggs and things, but stuff that comes over from the US is pricey.
Miss Emily's is a must stop bar while visiting Green Turtle Cay and the Goombay Smash will knock you on your...
okay... so WHY did you leave such a great place so quickly? Looked like a superb place to spend some time ...
Most channels, especially sailing ones, operate with a backlog, otherwise, one same technical issue could throw off a schedule. Keep it up, doing great.
Mike -Sailing Small
cute dress, Nikki!
I'm guessing the rum was way cheaper than the cranberry juice? Glad you guys are enjoying life!
Ha, same price :)
Gone with the Wynns! You mentioned that posting times and that is understood, also the fact that posting and connections speeds not being what they could be, I feel your frustration and also love your guts to do this! Being that this was Thanks Giving, will you be having family soon for Christmas or is that a spoiler alert? Well faire seas and sweet winds for you and your crew.
yes, we had family visit for the holidays but we didn't shoot anything! we just enjoyed their company :)
We did the same, no shooting and just loved being with and sharing the love! I can say that your views of the sunsets are a wonderful way to end each day! Thank you for your lovely work. Fair winds to the Wynns!
Glad I am not the only one feeling the stress of food prices. :-0 Crazy!!! Guess it's beans and rice for u guys.
With caught fish. Lol
I'll have beans and rice any day with a fresh fish :)
The food is crazy high, for two reasons. 1) EVERYTHING gets here by boat. 2) There is no income tax, so the entire economy runs on import duty. If we didn't pay income tax, there would be more in our pocket to buy those groceries. But our after tax dollars don't go as far. Ah, the price of paradise!
Gone with the Wynns - me2! Yum!!
Your friend has a nice C-Dory! One thing though - if you ever go sailing to countries other than the U.S, Bahamas, and Canada, get some sort of fuel storage for the dingy. And get a speargun. With that little spear you won't be able to get large fish like small tuna and grouper.
+DaebakMonkey yes, spear guns are illegal in the Bahamas so that's why we chose the Hawaiian sling for this trip.
I love how every single person I’ve ever met has called kerrygold butter “the good butter”
So Nancy is actually a Super Ninja Turtle
Not sure why you say that, but I will take it! :))
Nancy
You talked about the difficulty of getting fresh veg. Look into sprouting and microgreens. It's easy to carry some bags of seeds with you, and the only thing you need for sprouting is a n empty jar, and for microgreens you need a tray and some kitchen towel (no soil involved!). Sun and water you get for free. RUclips is full with videos about this. Your vitamins will grow before your eyes :)
yes, Nikki and I have talked about this numerous times. Micro greens might be the answer for herbs and greens!
There is something called cat grass... the furry Wynns would like that too.
We eat a superfood nutritional program where we have freeze dried greens and fruits. When we go cruising we stock up on them along with our protien shakes. All we need to do is add water and have a complete nutritional meal getting the protien we need and not have to worry if we CAN get fresh meat or if we can get it if we aren't paying an arm and a leg for it! Top quality and organic, gotta love it!
As we are getting ready to embark on our new life style, could you talk some about customs ,where you get the flags you fly? What are the best books for Bahamas and Caribbean? How do you know where customs are located? Do you have to pay? Would appreciate all info.
If you plan on exploring the Caribbean I would suggest sailing to
st.Thomas. My family and I cruise through the Caribbean and Magens Bay
St.Thomas is a beautiful bay and beach. It is just something i would
recommend. Another cool Island is Grand Turk.
We plan on hitting them both :)
First hand review is that they are paradise. Good luck on your travels!
And we think we pay outrageous prices for groceries. LOL Hope all is well. 🌬⛵️
might try that rum with some fresh lime juice and just a touch of simple syrup with a floating lime wheel (daiquiris anyone!).
I could live on that island. But I would grow my own food.
agree! There was one little Asian food truck restaurant that had a fresh garden, but it looked like it was just in the infancy phase so nothing was ready yet.
Hey Nicki & Jason, love the video... keep them coming!
I was my understanding that you were required to take lobster by hand not by sling...has there been a recent change that I'm not aware ?
spear and sling are ok in the Bahamas, not in FL.
stop in at guana cay ask for sue and norm bruin they have a great house there and close to nipper
Just curious, would you ever consider uploading in 720p to make the internet issue slightly less of an issue? Is there anyway to tell how many people watch in full screen where HD would make a difference?
In the past I did upload in 720p for this exact reason, but too many people complained about wanting 1080p :(
I don't personally care for my viewing purposes but the public has spoken!
so i have to say the RVing videos where inspiring . they inspired someone like my say to want to get out and go RVing and showing alot of cool thing to go see . the cost of rving is much lower then what you guys are doing now and not a every day guy / women can go do and see alot of the things you guys are doing now . in the past just havng a car could take me to some place you guys have been ,, i love what you guys are doing but its just not the same any more and yes you guys are taking us to some cool places we would never go but its now the same thing find a spot . look for food and net to upload videos and do it all over again the next day . i love the time you put into editing the videos but its just not the same any more .. just saying i miss the old Gone with the Wynns . PS hope this comment comes over in the right way .
We've met people who buy a boat for $30,000, sail for a year in the Carribbean on a budget of $20k, finish their trip in FL and sell their boat for $35,000.
Yes our boat is more expensive but it can be done on most any travel budget.
Great videos. What would be really helpful is to get an idea of what the "burn rate" is for cruising? What's it running you a month to be there? How much fuel are you using, marinas versus at anchor, that kind of stuff. Thank you!
We have been keeping track and plan to share soon.
Great! Thank you!
Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice in Cali $3.28 but I find it on sale for $1.99 all the time... $10 bucks is NUTS!!!
Land Lakes Half and Half ($4.75) here $2.20
Most items are about 50% more expensive but the juice blew us away too!
It sounded like most things where like Nuget Market Prices.. so not to bad... That juice was nuts.. .
At over $10.00, there's not going to be any sundowners featuring cranberry juice....
TOTALLY! Rum on Ice sounds nice to me :)
That place looks awesome except the grocery prices. I can't tell the temp/water temp tho
Beautiful videos! Are you using your iPad for aN auxiliary Chartplotter? If so, what program do you like for the Bahamas?
We talk about these items on our website a bit more, currently we're using Garmin Blue Charts on the iPad.
Have you guys thought of some trash compacting contraption for the boat? I'm sure there must be some manual ones out there.
ohhh, that's a good idea. i'll search Amazon.
Jason's muscles
haha, yea :)
It you guys are in the next port, find the local garage. Look for the guy with the welding torch and tell him you want a thing that can squish the trash in your trashcan. For a few bucks, I'm sure he'll make you a simple, but handy stamper in like five minutes.
do you exercise on the boat? what workout do you do? maybe a tight space, workout video showing how you manage! thanks
my sister and her boyfriend just gave us TRX type bands and showed us a few moves, will show in a video once we get it down a bit better. :)
Water, rum and rice. Not ice. Makes The Bahamas nice! See why I said use a whole berth for beer storage!
+SailingExodus haha, yep! When our fam came we requested beer, chocolate and coffee!
Yo ho ho ho and a bottle of rum.
hi guys, did you know that many shared WiFi spots place speed restrictions on users even when no one else is using the shared WiFi? There is however a way round this by using a VPN (virtual private network) which sets up a private network through the shared WiFi network. The fact that doing this circumvents the speed restrictions is more of a symptom of VPN's rather than their purpose, but you guys should look at using one. They're cheap to subscribe to and its just software on your PC (no hardware needed). good luck!
Thanks! We've also been looking into a hide-my-vpn service so we can stream and download regionally restricted content such as Netflix
❤️
Nikki, I would LOVEEE to know where you got your small black sling bag that you used in this video. Perfect size and style for traveling! Sending you guys lotsa love from the Philippines ❤️ as I continue to binge watch all your videos from the start haha
+delangepam You have great taste in bags! Love my Ugo and if you use the link here you can get a 20% discount. www.gonewiththewynns.com/product/productugo-waterproof-pack
Thank you!! ♡♡♡♡♡
I could never live on a sail boat... I am a recovering DRUNK!!! once I start drinking I don't know how or when to stop until I black out and or pass out then I wake up and start all over again until something bad happens and once I pay for the bad thing I did that I usually don't remember doing I start with just one drink and a month latter I'm full time drunk again... I tried for years to have just one drink and I just had to have just one more!!!!! Once I drink booze my common since goes out the door without me....
And your reason for posting that here is.......?
You both seem genuinely sad to be moving on. I wonder how many places you will visit where you have that same feeling when it is time to move onto the next stop.
+David Newbold hopefully a lot :)
I may have missed it, but was wondering if you ever got that 20K dollar worth of repairs made to the boat. Also, wondering about the bottom. I saw a little algae growing when you had the haul out. Have you had anything done to the bottom? Anyway, beautiful little island. Are you going to head North or South?
Heading South!
We did several videos on our repairs and many we did ourselves.
As for the bottom, the algae is scrubbed off by hand every few weeks or so.
High speed internet in the Bahamas = Island speed internet
Haha - have a sundowner & relax.
We don't mind at all if you're behind real life. It all looks like one cohesive story here on RUclips (I don't read the blog regularly).
If you run into problems with file transfer, you may want to consider FTP or Bittorrent technology to transfer to someone (or a private server you can remotely access) stateside, then upload to RUclips. It has the ability to resume a broken transfer where you left off.
We are trying to keep things in order, which sometimes makes people upset when obvious events are mentioned like Thanksgiving when it's being posted in Jan.
I have thought of some sort of bit torrent that divides the video into small pieces then uploads, it could work.
+Gone with the Wynns
You know you can't please all the people all the time. And now that you're not in any US time zone you are subject to "Island Time". That's a reality anyone who hasn't been there just can't imagine.
Don't feel bad...its common with the sailing channels on RUclips. Delos was 18 months behind at one point mostly I'm sure due to poor internet availability. I'm sure another factor is passage sailing videos can get kinda boring where there are repetitive days with not much content going on. I'm sure its hard to do post production when you're underway. Bottom line is who cares....haters gonna hate.
Have y'all tried sailing to and off the mooring yet? (without using the engine)
We have, first time was in the Fl Keys on our trip down there.
Did you make it to the Dollar Bar at the Green Turtle Club?
We did not.
just curious what you picked up as far as groceries go. I know you guys are for the most part vegetarian so were there fresh options that were cheaper or did you have to settle for frozen?
A full-on provisioning video is coming soon :)
awesome!
So if prices are high what do you guys do for groceries, surely you don't live on RUM and seafood only? what about cat food?
+Elf Lords Journeys we suck it up and buy what we need, it's just part of the life I guess.
Well that's better than the 9 to 5 stuck in commuter traffic anyday, right.😀 Enjoy your journey.
Maybe you should be a beam antenna from Ubiquity like the Nanostation m2 (not the loco one). Then you can use the Wifi from the Café over night (if it's on and they allowed it) to upload the video from your ship. :)
We do have a WiFi Ranger and it works wonders, however our anchorage is way too far from the Cafe.
Hey! Thanks for your fast response. Really enjoying your videos currently - hope you're fine. :)
Well, it's part of my job, so trust me when I say, a Nanostation is way better than a normal ranger. You would only need a second anchor/stone/riff where you can fix your boat at the stern or something like this to use it, because it have a limited degree of gain.
To give you an idea: We use Nanostations a lot for a free wifi network, the maximum distance to an iPhone 5 is 130 yards line of sight plus a thick 12 inch stone wall while still getting 6 mbit from the Nanostation to the Phone and 1 mbit from the phone to the Nanostation.
That's the same butter I like, have to see what I pay for it
What you really need there is a motorized cooler...
Ha, like the one we gave away :)
How was the Conch Burger?
